Lag solution: Where you have your villagers stationed, place a magma block underneath their job station - It basically short circuits their AI and they stop trying to figure out how to pathfind out of their hole.
by killing them, they wont be able to pathfind at all, perfect solution

Yep, this. Also put vines in where the villagers are, to disable collision checking
Also, you could move the villagers to different chunks, far away from your base.

For the lag problem: Put double carpet under each villager, this will disable their AI. You will still be able to trade stuff.

Your Nether Portal Transformation is one of the most unique, in terms of concept, that I've ever witnessed. Since you completed that in the Nether, what about the Overworld?

Hey brock, if you feel very laggy because of the villagers, when you don’t need to you them, you can place a magma block under their work station and they will stop their AI, which reduces the lag!
It might not mean much, but your videos have single-handedly gotten me interested in modern, unmodded Minecraft for the first time in 7 years. The editing, storytelling, and wonderful evolution of your builds has reignited that spark of creativity once again!

Solution for the villagers: If you watch hermitcraft, you can put magma blocks underneath their workstations, this gets rid of their AI. I'm not sure how it works.
Less AI = less lag. :)

To handle villagers, you can place a magma block in the floor in front of them, which will prevent them from moving around too much.
I learned this from grian. I’m pretty sure it works because he is trustworthy I think. Take it with a grian of salt though.
The village is starting to look big. With a ton of farms and paths, but not at all houses. Build more houses for your village please

Amazing build as always. And also in your villager trading place a magma block under the work stations this will kind of freezes their AI basically it stops their AI from working thus preventing lag
Your jump cuts are getting so good to the point that sometimes I don’t know whether you’re breaking something really fast or jump cutting :D
The portal design is something that I’ve never seen before and I think it looks awesome. I do think that if you textured the blackstone in the walls (adding gilded blackstone, cracked blackstone) and made the gradient at the top smoother (putting some crying obsidian in the regular obsidian row, some warped hyphae in the crying obsidians row) it would look a bit better.

Heey dude, just an idea to help you out with your lag problem. What I have noticed alot is that during a period of time around any place I build for awhile lots of mobs gather in unlit tunnels and some picked up items like eggs or whatever and that has created most of the real lag I experienced. Hope this helps you out and that you like caving with torch spamming :P

The Nether floor being hollow is frankly not surprising - I would prefer to fill things in when I can, but the Nether, no way. Love the series.
To stop your villagers from lagging your world you can put magma blocks under their block job to stop their AI. I don't know how it works but Grain did it in the latest season of hermitcraft with his villager trading area.

you could also make a chourus farm, link it up to a super smelter and then craft the purpur blocks also for end rods its torch with a blaze rod i think

You can avoid villager lags by putting them on double carpet or putting magma blocks in front of them
extend the village more, it’d look so sick!! this would decrease the taking care of villages issue
