- A story that follows office worker Xiao Wei who gets lost in the Forbidden City and finds that she has been transported to the Qing Dynasty.

Because of the intrigues in this episode, it helps to know which prince is who. I had to go back & watch a few more times to get it straight:
Main Leads:
"Iron Hat" Yinxiang: 13th Prince (guy with cute smirk) who first fell in love with Wei, our heroine
"Crown Prince Party"

"8th Prince Party" (all in with the Crown Prince in the corruption scandal)

== Yinti, 14th Prince (super competitive against our hero Yinxiang; betrays Yinti's murder to gain Wei's trust, but betrays her again.)

It must have been frightening to be a common person, and a woman during those days. A woman didn't have much say of what was to happen in her life. And being a single woman must have been extremely hard. You couldn't just go out and get a job that you could support yourself. We have come so far from that time. And it must have been hard to be an elderly or disabled person.
You are right. Women had no power or value and had to be extremely careful in order to stay alive. You had to be cared for by either a husband, father, uncle or brother. Without a man your choices were few - including a brothel or extreme poverty. I can’t imagine being given away in marriage to a stranger and just praying he would be nice. If he turned out to have a bad temper there wasn’t much you could do about it.
We surely have gone a very long way since. Even from 2 generations ago, women were still having that problem of being treated differently, stifling any potential to develop talents and act without fear of judgement.
I still don’t know why they never read everything about the era before going back in time. Read about the history who is evil and who is not know what’s to happen when and what to do about the situation. I guess it won’t be interesting anymore if they know everything 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
Actually history is always distorted. Who can blindly believe it??

There's another time travel drama called Bu Bu Jing Xin ( Scarlet Heart), which ironically was shown in either ep 2 or 3, when 13th Prince and Wei were watching TV. In Scarlet Heart, the FL read and knew the history of the Qing Dynasty, she just couldn't change the course.
@@rainaromes yes I watched that too, at least the FL knew what’s going to happen, even though she couldn’t change anything.That’s what I was expecting in this one but nothing like that yet.
Come on....besides the history recorded being distorted, is the fact that she didnt predict the time she would time travel....and she is an architect, not a historian

I wonder what other things the lessons entail and if we'll see them. They're not geges (格格）as far as I can tell. Do they need to learn how to wear flower pot shoes? Are they growing their nails out? Are they learning how to do that elegant walk while holding their handkerchief?
Why is she having misgivings about which prince is good or whatever you been with 14th prince in your time and before the stupid memory loss thing happen was planning to met him

It can get a bit confusing especially since they all have the same hairstyle. But our main lead always does this smirk thing with his lips so it's easier to find him based on the facial expressions he makes
