    Check for horse rescues in your area or not too far away. A lot of horses are making their way to those horrible auctions because people can’t care for them any more. You can find an excellent horse for the adoption fee which is a lot less than what you would pay someone.

    • @BarrettHouser
      @BarrettHouser  Před 2 lety +12

      That’s great! Happy you’re doing some research. So when you open up a bale of hay, it comes off in chunks. These are called flakes.

    • @chrisquiett1776
      @chrisquiett1776 Před 2 lety +2

      It’s just how it’s purchased, flakes are easier to do business. I’m not trying to be rude, it’s just how it’s done. And a flake is a lot easier than measuring. I came here for a crash course because I’ve been out of the game for years, don’t feel bad

    • @jewelweed6880
      @jewelweed6880 Před 2 lety +1

    Can you do a video for those of us out here who would love to own a horse but can’t afford all the expenses. Like, is it a better idea to rent? Are there ever owners looking for someone to physically care for their horses needs maybe in return for being able to ride? Or are there owners who may be looking for someone to ride their horses if they don’t have time? Are any of these things a thing? If so how to you find these options?

Ask about stables, feed, vet costs, farriers and things of that nature. That is my opinion on how to best go about the expenses and starting to budget.
