- Montage of one of my favourite teams of the last decade. Obviously it is a bit of a Komova/Mustafina fest. I actually made this right after the Olympics but it kept getting taken down because of all the money I was making from it.

This team was excellent, but I will always be a Mustafina fan in particular. She was such a great athlete. representing her country and the sport in general with dignity, courtesy and a fierce unwillingness to back down. It’s why SHE became an Olympic champion- twice. That and Grishina… as much as these games didn’t go as she’d hoped she was still a wonderful gymnast. I loved her beam most of any of the girls on the team.

what about that Arabian on the beam by Komova and that floor elements by Afanasieva??
they're all so great, and I hope everyone is going to heal or be in the best physical and mental condition soon.
And Mustafina also hasn't been shining so much without them...
Aliya returned to the Olympics, got three more medals including defending her gold on bars- the others didn’t. Obviously with Komova it was understandable- I know how it is to fight a back injury- but the rest didn’t make it because others were better. I’d say she DID outshine them in the end.
