After almost 10 years of not listening to Scars on Broadway, for some reason I suddenly have the urge to listen to this song again. I now remember why I listened to them in the first place.
23 now, and was falling asleep to SOAD as a teen with headphones on in bed every night. If i can say one thing to all SOAD and Scars on Broadway fans, it's that God weeps with us. He hurts with us. And I have faith he is the light at the end of the tunnel. (I've had insanely miraculous near death experiences) but yeah, pls consider God my guys. There is hope in this seemingly damned world
This song is about Daron’s family that fled from Turkey/Western Armenia 🇦🇲 to Iraq (Babylon) around 1915 during the time of the armenian genocide where 1.5 million Armenians, Assyrians and Greeks were massacred at the hands of the Ottoman Empire… “running to Babylon.. running all the way to Babylon… see you there in Babylon…” it represents the time his family members are fleeing and telling each other we’ll see you there in the Middle East or IRAQ which is where his family lived and which is where Babylon is located. If you don’t know, Daron has family still living in Baghdad (formerly) Babylon.
Running to Babylon Run all the way to Babylon Meet you there in Babylon Meet you there in Babylon Running to Babylon Run all the way to Babylon Meet you there in Babylon Meet you there in Babylon Marooned again, you were the one That threw me into life Marooned again, you were the one That looked through the sadder light I liked the way we slept On rooftops in the summertime If we were all marooned again I'd give my soul to save you Marooned again, you were the one That put me in defense Marooned again, you were the one That took my confidence I liked the way we slept On rooftops in the summertime If we were all marooned again I'd give my soul to save your life Running from Babylon Run all the way to Babylon Meet you there in Babylon Meet you there in Babylon Babylon
This brings back memories of me and my dad in a car during a storm with the song playing The slow intro white watching the lightning is one of the best memories I have
I hadn't heard this song until last year. I'll be honest I was a Serj groupie and was on his nuts when his solo album Elect the Dead came out. I was all about it. Never got into his other solo shit. Didn't bother giving Scars a chance. Heard this song last year and I can definitely hear the similarities between it and a song called "Falling Stars" off the Elect the Dead album. I bet they tried to make an album and they weren't able to work out their differences. I've been meaning to listen to Scars' album and see if I can find other similarities between the albums. Wish, if they were to ever come out with another album, that it was closer sounding to their self titled. Original is always best.
The reason this sounds like something from elect the dead is because Serj and Daron and John Dolmayan were part of SOAD. Scars On Broadway has the SOAD drummer and guitarist.
If you look for the preliminary list of songs that were going to be recorded for mezmeriz-hypnotize you'll see that empty walls is there, someones say that Serj's annoyance was that John and Shavo took much more into consideration to Daron than him
I traveled throufh Egypt rockin this album on train rides e... now everytime i hear a song off this album im teleported back on that train watchiing history roll by my window

ilyass Well, SOAD is much better, of course. But I enjoy individual projects as well. Serj Tankian has done a good job on his own, and that enriches his musical projects. It will be useful even when SOAD returns!
Only technically, though. They don't plan on writing new albums and they only perform concerts every one in a while. They're just performers for now, not an actual band.
and the fact it was the same hook chorus hook chorus in the entire album look at the lyrics to world long gone to get my point. its easy and lazy song writing
This song is really fantastic. I wake up thinking in it. I suppose it's one of my favourite from the first album. Also, this is really a great album. I would like to particularly mention the use of keyboards on every track, that just added this special sound to the whole work. Personally, the second album is shit, altho have a few hits. I felt the lack of musical prodution in it. A raw sound... Without much pleasently to the ears haha (like keyboards could have done the job).
Spot on with the 2nd album. It just sounded like Daron released any riff he wrote while on coke. Lives is a decent song. But the rest was just a mess of instantly forgettable riffs and vocals. The 2nd half of Babylon has more musicianship to it than that entire album. I wouldn't even guess he's saving better songs for a new soad album as the 2 new songs they released also sucked.
Funny fact, until I heard what the song is about, I thought of literal Babylonians or people from those warm countries sleeping on rooftops, but thought that i was simply too much into cultural research... Turns out that I was not. One of my favourite songs, by the way. ☺️
I use to listen to Billy Talent all the time, I’m not even Canadian but still use to listen to them primarily, knew almost all the lyrics at one point, and then I got into SOAD and literally can’t listen to Billy Talent again, I listen primarily SOAD and Scars, I know all the lyrics to every SOAD song

Just imagine if it was actually SOAD, Daron's music with Serj's voice and lyrics...
What about those in their late 40s

his voice is everything, years have gone by it's still extraordinary
i always imagine serj in the background at 2:46 just makes the song a lil better

Marooned again, you were the one
That threw me into life
Marooned again, you were the one
That looked through the sadder light
I liked the way we slept
On rooftops in the summertime
If we were all marooned again
I'd give my soul to save you
Marooned again, you were the one
That put me in defense
Marooned again, you were the one
That took my confidence
I liked the way we slept
On rooftops in the summertime
If we were all marooned again
I'd give my soul to save your life

I slept on rooftops during summer break while I was in middle school, then I heard this song and knew I wasn't alone in those experiences.
0:01 that classic Daron riff, ambient and dark reminiscent of Aerials and Holy Mountains
Yeah
this is pure gold for real !!!!!
I finally found this. I remember sitting on the bus going school in fourth grade listening to this on my brothers mp3 player.
I relate to this song , I am helpless , trapped and I am willing to give up everything just to save those around me from this hellhole I am living in.
Im so sorry to hear this. Im sure thigs will go better ❤️

First time listening to this band. It's odd hearing Daron perform outside of SOAD (it would be nice if SOAD was still together though /sighs)
Yeah, but Shavo decided to be a dick and probably severed most of the ties they have.
Technically System of a Down is together.
Only technically, though. They don't plan on writing new albums and they only perform concerts every one in a while. They're just performers for now, not an actual band.
Colton Exner
Actually they are in the process of a new album called Little Grey Men
Andrew Burgardt Nice. I already can't wait.
Darian has a knack for making good pop songs (using unique spins and simple simple simple riffs)
Sounds to Serj's voice 3:22
Lol yes
for some reason I always hear Serg's voice in all songs
I thought that was Serj who was singing
This whole album is underrated.
Great song. Masterwork.
Why didn't this band ever take off?
Just Another Because everyone wants to see System, unfortunately.
and the fact it was the same hook chorus hook chorus in the entire album look at the lyrics to world long gone to get my point. its easy and lazy song writing
+Just Another Mainly because Daron apparently suffers from a terrible stage fright when he's the lead singer, which made them cancel a whole tour. :/
+Griefin' Didn't know that, he was fantastic on tour back in System
+Just Another Cause they were really bad
it´s great
Great record
I'm like this song !
This would've worked as a SOAD song too. Well, Daron IS essentially SOAD, but with Serj's voice, this would've been sexy as fuck as well.
Indeed, brother
I wish they’d perform some of the Scars/Serj’s solo stuff together when they got around to recording the two songs together
Marooned again you were the one that threw me into life.
Me encanta este Rolón lml.
Love to meet you with eaves end 🎉
Best music ever
2019 R.I.P.
Meet you there, in Babylon!
My Ears dig it, Killer !
True fans know your the mastermind that gave SOAD their pop
Serj is postmadonna
Serj sounds cool
But I prefer listening to SCARS
Scars on broadway 2020 20....forever!!!!
This song is really fantastic.
I wake up thinking in it.
I suppose it's one of my favourite from the first album.

Personally, the second album is shit, altho have a few hits. I felt the lack of musical prodution in it. A raw sound... Without much pleasently to the ears haha (like keyboards could have done the job).
Keys do flesh out the songs more for sure. Makes them more “full” if that makes sense 😂
Spot on with the 2nd album. It just sounded like Daron released any riff he wrote while on coke. Lives is a decent song. But the rest was just a mess of instantly forgettable riffs and vocals.
