- It was time for a new exhaust note for my Honda Grom (MSX 125)! This time I'm installing the new Zoom Brute "GP" styled low mount. I give you my initial review and show you how to Reset a Grom ECU!
As many know, I loved my Zoom Loop exhaust for my Honda Grom and enjoyed the powerband in the upper RPM's. However I was ready for a new sound and longing for my lost torque. Zoom was kind enough to send out this Brute low mount exhaust to review and install on my Grom. In terms of what exhaust is best for the Grom or Kawasaki Z125, there is a lot to choose from with brands like Yoshimura, Hindle, Arrow, Comp Werkes, and Tyga. The Zoom line is an affordable exhaust that still takes a beating, but doesn't break the bank. The Brute has a deep exhaust note to it for a 125cc engine and produces a very linear powerband on the grom. As with any exhaust install, it's important to reset the ECU on the Grom and I show you how to do it with the paperclip method. The Zoom brute can fit both the OG Grom and the SF model MSX125.

Heard once you get these changing your oil becomes a pain in the butt, because of the limited access to the drainage bolt have you had any problems with that ?
@@user-vj9nd3hf9v it’s been ages since I serviced my grom but from memory it was quite easy to change the oil.

The brute has really grown on me. It looks like no other, and it has a great high rpm grunt compared to the loop. So I'm leaning toward the brute minus the issue with the oil drain plug not being as accessible
is the oil drain plug not accessible at all, or just hard to get to? Any pics of the drain plug with exhaust?
You're probably the 4th or 5th Evo owner who I've seen with a Grom now. I've been wanting a Grom for a while now. I think I might be giving myself one for Christmas.

Biggest problem no one discussed about installing this exhaust is the rear bolts that come with the zoom do not thread well and you need the stock bolt for the last rear mounting point
I got one for my 2022 Grom straight from Zoom here in Thailand....well made piece! I only used the pre installed baffle as I don't like an overly loud exhaust like on MANY MANY bikes here in Thailand!
*I want an exhaust like the exhaust of a dirt bike, a protection plate on the engine and all terrain tires to turn the groom into a scrambler.*
The Zoom Brute seems to be pretty well made and sounds pretty Brute too. :)

Much better. You need to do the kitaco cover mod with the removed oil spinner and cooler. Revs up much faster without that 2 and a half pound chunk of spinning crap in it
That may be the next mod!
ALLDAYANTHONY makes a big difference getting rid of that spinner and now I just change a cartridge instead of pulling the case off.

I like the deep throaty growl of the zoom loop but they both have their pros and cons.

I like how that exhaust has a moto GP look. I have never heard of Zoom but it appears to look quality. I have ran many exhaust systems in my 27 yrs of riding and i had this obsession with Two Brothers only after realizing they are junk. I pretty much have Arrow exhaust now on all my bikes. Two bros sound good but break quickly, Arrow is not as loud but also doesnt break. Btw good vid, and as for the 270 dollar price point on that Zoom that alone would make me buy it.
For the price, I really think its a fantastic pipe!
ZOOM is massive in Thailand. just not so much in USA or other western countries. Thai exhausts have come along way in the last 5 or so years

Zoom is poop compared to yoshi or tyga. My grom got slow from a zoom exhaust put a stock 17 exhaust picked up alot. This is even with a pcv5 and autotune

Yoshimura Exhaust review, I feel like on a little 125 most exhausts are going to sound about the same, I thought I want the Yoshi but can't justify 550 bucks for an exhaust on a 2k bike

@@loganmumma4506 True out the door it's like $3,800. But you can get this nearly brand new with less than 3k miles for 2k or so. My friend got one a few weeks ago ,2019 Grom 1,050 miles for 2,300
Just be patient and search for a good deal, I recently bought a 2018 with 95 miles for 2800 on Craigslist. Came with aftermarket seat and mirrors

Can you remove your oil drain plug with the Brute installed or do you mandatorily have to remove the Brute exhaust ?
My buddy had his weld on the mounts break and the thing fell off while tiding...not a fan of their welds. He then got a replacement. And the Welds broke in a new spot. I have to get it welded now so I can use it
That’s strange to hear. I have a couple thousand miles on this exhaust with no issues!
ALLDAYANTHONY update today my buddy’s zoom his SECOND ONE the exhaust cracked at the weld this is his second one same issue.

So I have installed this exhaust, do you ever get any chirping noises when the bike is idling or coming down from Rpms? I’m just confused on why there is a chirping noise, it doesn’t run bad or anything literally the bike has 200 miles on it. Both dB killers are off.
No chirping noises on mine
I recently installed the Brute on my 2015 Grom and noticed the chirping too. I only have 163 miles on mine, so low like yours. I rode it today, but didn't pay attention to the noise. Tomorrow I'll see if it's still doing it, it might just be that the air is whistling through something in the exhaust.

Turboe1 you’re fine, but I would recommend resetting it

to reset ECU paper clip will go on the left side of the switch just like shown in the picture with the green circles? one side on the top the other on the bottom then boom done...correct? haha thanks

Hey mate, I’d have to say I’d highly recommend a power commander 5 if doing exhaust and air filter. I did those mods and the bike was running lean. I checked the spark plug and it was pretty white. Once I installed the pc5 with the 2 brothers exhaust map the bike ran better and the A/F ratio was good. Spark plug looked perfect.
