Pandit Ravi Shankar Lecture Demonstration - English Subtitles

Pandit Ravi Shankar gave a wide ranging talk at Rabindra Bharati University in 1982 with practical demonstrations
He covered a variety of topics- from Gaud Sarang, to playing the pure form of raag in Alaap , types of Jod, tempo of Vilambit, various Gats, use of fractional taals, contribution of Baba Allauddin Khan...
On the sarod is (probably) Ud Ashish Khan. I have not been able to determine the identity of the tabla player.
I have translated the Bangla to English for all those who don't understand Bangla. I've minimised the use of my interpretation- the translation is quite literal... to give audiences a feel of what was said, rather than what I thought was said...
This is s must listen for all students of instrumental Hindustani Classical music

This video was already present in bengali and I couldn't understand it. Thank you so much for the efforts of adding the subtitles. It is absolutely useful. It also a hard slap to people who always have tagged maihar as dirdir gharana. What a graceful and nuanced singing! Once again appreciate it.

❤Thanks for sharing this . I had never heard Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravishankar 🙏🏽 ji singing. He sings so perfectly. He has sung Goud Sarang and described difference of Dhrupad style and Khayal ang. The Sarod of Anindiya Banerjee is also following so melodiously.
