A ruined theme? Stone bricks? Now I finally know how strongholds and such showed up. They were built by the advanced Etho race, but crumbled into pieces as the amplified terrain gradually eroded.

Etho, at 24:02, you see that indent in the wall directly in front of you? It looks like the entrance to a church - you could make a really neat ancient abandoned temple going into that cave, and could even put catacombs under it (like under the town hall on MindCrack,) or a network of tunnels which you can only access from the temple. Does anyone else like the idea?

Her's an idea to add to the ancient temple theme, when i played the new tomb raider, there was like crumbly buildings and loose stairs and rope bridges, all sorts of cool ancient stuff! Etho, along with the catacombs, make broken stairways and rope bridges and traps! ancient temple's have traps ^.^
You see, that's what I like about Etho. Lost 50 levels and just carried on without raging
He has everything and therefore doesn't care about losing things that he can easily regain

That ice mountains biome looks really cool. Like a scene out of Frozen!
Etho, read this if you want your terraforming to look more realistic. If you dont care that much than dont read this. You need to think about how everything came into place. When you place grass, you need to think whether or not a seed could be carried by the wind or a bird to that place. A steep ledge is not the place for grass to grow, but if there is a flat area or ledge that a seed could fall on, put grass there. And in a mountain, there are different types of rock that erode in a different way, so there will be boulders half sticking out of the ground or cliff face. Also concerning caves, think about the water erosion it took to carve out that cave. Where did the water come from? Give signs that there was once or there still is water there.
Don't try to apply logic to a game with giant white floating marshmallows and cubes of lava that multiply and try to kill you :P

PassionatePwnage landscape is actually realistic in non amplified places. Just look at how caves are all circular as if water actually went through them and carved them.

Man, I just realized that the ocean changes with the temples would make post 1.8 UHC's super interesting depending on how often you find them. If you manage to get past the guardians, theres 8 gold blocks waiting for you at the center, so you'd be able to get a ton of normal golden apples, or a single notch apple.
But Maybe they will bann the Temples cuz a Notched Apple ist way too over powerd...

They make sure there are no oceans in UHC. And also, it would be dumb to try and go down there, you would quickly loose air and the gaurdians are really strong compared to normal mobs.

The best thing about Etho, besides his awesome personality, PvP and building ability and everything else is the fact that I can watch him while my parents are in the room without them getting mad at me for watching someone who swears. Of course I can just wear a headset, but we've all had that time where you aren't wearing it and your parents walk into your room at the same moment that the person you are watching swears. Well, at least that's happened to me. xD

That amplified spiked ice plane looked really cool, it makes me want an amplified UHC season. Especially with a spiked ice biome in there.
For Etho and those who are interested. He mentioned the structures being implemented in existing chunks of old worlds.. this is incorrect, all updates need to go through the process of allowing it to work in older worlds. Jeb was just saying that's the part of the process he has left with it. It's nothing new, every update, every feature needs to be implemented in older worlds... not existing chunks.

Etho you should build a statue near the pit so that you can see it from that pad you were looking at it from. It could be cool if you made it look like an ancient civilization built a statue of their god to fit your ancient ruins look.

Etho, I'd love to see what you can do with these new mobs. They drop shards to make those awesome lanterns, sponges, and all types of fish. It'd be cool to see how they could be farmed.

Etho I think you should make it kind of like a massive jungle, build extra large trees and climb around on the branches like tarzan. Considering you have jump pads and stuff I think it would look pretty darn cool, LIKE SO HE CAN SEE!

Lastly regarding the building style I would love if you oriented it to the likes of Tomb Raider 1. South America, Andes, Peru, Machu Picchu, Vilcabamba, Inkas,.. that kind of stuff. Basically wood for bridges, paths, railings and bricks for pillars, doors, maybe some more important areas. Also lots of moss and vines...

If your theme is ancient ruins you should make a floating island in the middle with a quartz temple with vines hanging down that would look amazing
It was sooo refreshing to sit back and watch one of your videos Etho. I subbed to you awhile back and since then, I've been very busy and haven't done much YouTubing and today was just one of them days and it felt so nostalgic to watch one of your videos. As always, great commentary and even better gameplay. Don't ever quit Etho, you are the greatest MineCrafter in my opinion and I hope you go places with CZcams and such.

Dear mr. Etho (aka. sneaky ninja man) i now from documenteries that the maya's and the inca's had water transport ways in walls and in their path's with small bridges over them, so i thought maybe you could use that for as an example farms
water on ice blocks in walls and under blocks you walk over so you can see the items getting transporten under you or right next to you, i think that is a cool idea and i hope you maybe get an other idea or a bit of inspiration of this. anyway love your videos so as always +1 thumbs up!
Hey Etho, you should make a huge temple at the top of a mountain, and make it huge and crumbling. I'd suggest using a single TNT blast everywhere you'd want a building to look crumbled, and then pile up some cracked and mossy stone bricks on the ground under it. Keep up the awesome videos!

Etho, why don't you make A huge tree in the middle of the ruins, with a huge treetop and roots sometimes going through the area, and even being integrated into the build

The thing about adding new stuff to existing worlds is called retrogen and it's been used in mods for a few minecraft versions now. Glad Mojang decided to use it. It's basically like world gen, only the game tries to generate only the things that were added by checking if it won't hurt anything (like generating new ores only in places it finds smoothstone and generating temples only if it doesn't find not natural materials in some place).
I think it would be cool to have it look like pieces of the overhang had collapsed, being flush with the wall, then have an ancient ruin substitute. Also, you should but tiny houses jammed into the sides of the pit, like cliff dwellings.
Honestly Etho, I don't think it's worth it to start a space engineers series because SO many people are already doing it, including a couple of the mindcrackers. Plus you have a lot to do right now, Crackpack, Terrafirmacraft, this and the Mindcrack server, I don't think it's worth the amount of time and dedication you'll have to put in.

It's not a bug ,in beefs vid he said that guude deleted his player profile to help him get on the server because he couldn't join. Probably the same with other players.

the pit seems like a great place to put the beacons. Under a pool of water with some blue stained clay for the beam.
Etho, I think that you should try Agrarian Skies: Hardcore Quest, It is a very cool modpack/map, that I think you would enjoy. It has a lot of cool mods, that really shape it and make it different than other packs, Like Magic Bees, and also Tech mods, like AppliedEnergistics and Thermal Expansion. (It also has ThaumCraft)

Etho, the best way to mine packed ice is with Silk Touch Shears. pick axes take just as long as the shears, or anything else.

etho- mushroom blocks now are two seperate blocks- red and brown. so you can fix your mushroom by using silk touch on an existing red mushroom.
Etho, you could definitely do some Machu Pichu-type buildings for your ruins. I like the idea of a civilization left untouched that still has working technology (ie jump pads and the storage). Great plan can't wait to see it.

Just got a little idea for your pit thing. You could integrate the whole transportation idea into it by stepping on a pressure plate when you jump down, this can launch a boat into a pool of water at the bottom, here you can ride the boat down a series of rivers & waterfalls to a location, all the while passing ancient ruins and what have you. I was kind of picturing the scene from Indiana Jones, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in the boat cars when they go down the waterfall :D. Anyways I think this could be a MAJOR addition to your new base and I hope you take note of this. PLEASE LIKE SO HE SEES!!!!! I THINK HE WOULD LOVE IT!!!

Hey Etho, you should have a giant creeper face (Like the lava one in the man cave) built into a cliff face or something. I think that would be a really cool start to the ancient ruins build. Anyway, whatever you do will be awesome. I love the new amplified base so far. It's coming along very nicely.
Hey Etho for the building theme make it an ancient ruin that has been discovered and is being explored. You can do that by making catwalks around a temple or support pillars out of wood and stuff like that.

You can make the episodes from 45 min to 60 min i find your videos flyby so it would be good for people who want to pass time

I'm playing on a factions-ish server and every time I go AFK, the Endermen wreck the sand and dirt above me, making my general location quite easy to locate. Totally understand the never-ending battle against Endermen.

Etho, for the pit you could add some hanging vines. It could look cool as well as having some function in letting you climb or stop your fall to get off at different levels.
