Footwork in the Golf Swing | The Missing Link for Speed and Consistency

  • Strike and getting the ball flight under control were the 2 main objectives for Ian. Once the data revealed that he was not using the ground for torque as he could - a few exercises and gait cycle work got us into the space we needed to then use the GRFi board to allow his body to optimise these forces naturally. Thanks for making the trip Ian!

    Amazing teaching!
    Little tad bit of a neurological fun fact: What we perceive as a "reaction" of our body to something is actually the brains "best fit" simulation for the intended result. It's an active process albeit entirely subconcious. Your brain is simulating a multitude of motion patterns from your previous set of experience and is constantly cross checking with your intention! If you lose the intention your brains "best fit" optimization is disrupted and the result is the average joe's attempt of getting all the youtube tips right with their swing. ;)

      @GRFGolf  Před rokem +1

      Thanks and totally agree. You'll hear me say countless times in previous videos on the channel how the body is actually simulating movement and that the golf swing is a simulation from a recognisable movement map that we develop through experiential learning 👍

Your lessons on the full swing and even chipping have made the game feel more effortless than I could've imagined. I only wish I had found you years ago before I got caught up in all of the technical jargon that most others teach. If you're ever in the States I will certainly make an effort to come see you. Keep up the great work!

    I like the " Intent " part. Now when I practice or play, my first thought is what is my intension, instead of being so target oriented, or how far I can hit the ball. This has elevated my striking.

    WOW. I can empathise totally with this person. I’ve slowed my swing and shortened it in an attempt to get more consistency with my irons. The opposite has happened. I’m hitting irons 20 yards shorter and my head is now like a bag of toys. If ever Zen golf comes on “tour” to South Wales I’d be first in the queue for a lesson.

    This is so amazing to see. I'm coming to see you on the 21st June with an SOS! I've recently started to shank 85% of irons, worse the shorter the clubs, I'm sure this is a combination of moving weight onto the toes and lacking side bend. The result of it however is to restrict the golf swing as I'm so scared of the result. I need to get confidence back in the shot and become more free.

    hi marcus, i understand the concept of the foot mechanics creating the ground torque and this has helped my swing massively as i was using far too much upper body on the downswing. however on recording my swing the backswing takeaway is ok and the top of the swing looks ok but midway back my club goes quite flat this is my natural swing and i struggle to change it, is this something to be concerned with and should i try to make a more conventional backswing?

      @@GRFGolf hi thanks for the reply.
      I've always been told during lessons that I'll never improve whilst my backswing is flat around my body.
      I don't understand the mechanics of the swing and have always tried tirelessly to make it look right but always fall back to my natural flat swing.
      Does the backswing have any effect on the overall swing as long as the lower body works correctly?
      Thanks
