Just based on getting open, and catching ability, they are both elite. Per, well, anyone you might happen to ask, Najee and Jaylen are a top-five RB unit (I’d argue they’re top-one) and Freiermuth is criminally under-rated as a big-body slot. If he could throw the ball flat-footed it would help him a lot, but he has to step into pretty much any throw beyond 15 yards. That extra step he has to take to wind up to throw adds about another half second that the line needs to protect him which is A LOT of time in the NFL

    Do you think he can be good or not and why?

    • @Steely_Cam
      @Steely_Cam Před 5 měsíci +4

      There's no "thinking" about it; he can be good and he has shown flashes of good, verging on very good, almost tempting me to pull out the g-word (great). Consistency is the issue. He appears uncomfortable in the pocket and the OL have told us it's a lot easier to block for a guy (Mason) when you know where he's going to be.
      Kenny came off the bench for Trubisky last year because Mitch was playing too safe. The narrative was "with TJ down we can no longer rely on our D to win games, so we have to go out there and sling it, for better or worse." That's who Kenny was last preseason. Somehow they've crossed like ships in the night; now Mitch is the gunslinger and Kenny is the Steady Eddie? Both those guys were confused about what the team wanted from them which resulted in neither playing to their strengths. Ultimately what lost Matt Canada his job was the "inability to be himself" as Tomlin said.
      Right now Kenny doesn't know who he is. He saw himself as a starter (he refused to play second fiddle in Seattle, don't believe anyone who says different) and he saw himself as a man who was above criticism from a female reporter. He hasn't earned anything in this league, not a starting spot and for sure not the holier-than-thou attitude.

      @snagginbirdies1006 Před 4 měsíci

      @@Steely_Cam Are you even watching your own video. He is getting SMASHED in the pocket, not out on the run. He was the most pressured (54% of pass plays) and most hit QB in the entire NFL. The only thing "Rudy" figured out was it's nice to play two of the bottom four defenses in the league followed by the ravens practice squad. He was pressured at 15% average per game. The O line didn't magically learn to block better because of Mason, they just played shitty competition in his games. For reference Kenny Pickett has had exactly 2 games his entire career where his pressured rate was 16% or below. Guess what game was one of them, that shitty Bengals team he played and put up identical numbers that Mason did. He's not responsible for shit o line play, that's plain stupid.

Here’s another stat for you: Pickett was pressured on only 52.1% of scrambles, per SportsInfoSolutions. That’s the lowest number in the NFL. Only Bryce Young and Derek Carr have a lower QBR from outside the pocket than Pickett.

He had the most free runners in the NFL. The O line was and is trash, they looked better because of the community college level competition when Mason played.
      As far as pressured on scrambles, I guess you are trying to make the argument he bails too early. And I agree he has happy feet and looks uncomfortable a lot. But I think you'd be very hard pressed to find any QB that is the most hit QB, most pressured QB, and has the most free runners coming that wouldn't get happy feet. Dude just watch your own video, these are his highlight throws and he is regularly getting absolutely hammered. Now add in all the times he literally isn't given enough time to make a throw and he's getting smashed. He doesn't trust his O line, I don't blame him, I wouldn't either. Neither would you bud

      @Steely_Cam Před 4 měsíci

      @@snagginbirdies1006 Exactly. They have their backs to the guy. The defense is facing the QB; they will always be able to react and re-track before the OL knows what’s happening.
