Gustavo Dudamel, Conductor
Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Symphony No 4 in F minor, Op. 36
Fourth movement: Finale - Allegro con fuoco
@ Royal Festival Hall - Hudba
If any other orchestra played at this tempo, people would complain that it's too fast - but not here, because their accuracy and precision is still top class, even at this tempo. It's like a musical sewing machine, just brilliant.
Tchaikowski's music speaks directly to us in a way that other composers can not. In the hands of this orchestra/conductor he speaks directly to the gods and they like what they hear. No other performance of this amazing music comes close to this, not even a little bit!
agree, it's on another level than most other music full stop
I was there! Goddamit we couldn't WAIT to applaud this exceptional orchestra!
I would have been beside myself in tears if I had seen that performance
Goosebumps 'cuz we hear that not a single musician is faking on sixteens tempo 4382097 BPM - what a pleasure to hear! Terrific interpretation!
Possible? EVERYTHING is possible!
1:07 perfect crescendo!
Now that is classical music playing at it's best. Bravo sbyo you rock.
Holy cow, this rivals my absolute favorite version: The San Francisco Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas. Bravo, what a talented group of young people!
MTT!!!!
Chaikovsky is ONE OF THE GREATEST Composer in history of Music.
This Orchestra is Proud of Modern Musical Culture.
I don't believe this has ever been done better, live or in a recording studio. Amazing.
I''m 80 and new here . . just a concert goer . . .who believes passionately in Jose Antonio Abreu.and loves those thousands and thousands of kids with whom he has electrified the music world in the presence of that world's finest conductors.
Now that's how its done !!! What passion beautifully executed.
The world's most exciting and innovative conductor, Gustavo Dudamel and this INCREDIBLE Orchestra of young people have brought a whole new life to this piece of genius from Piotr Illyich. It has all the passion and the grandeur needed to make this the benchmark performance. Can't stop watching it. SO wish I had been there. I'm reduced to tears watching the video. I'd have been a jibbering basket case if I had witnessed this. Bravo Maestro. (Check the violinists rocking at 7'35". Amazing)
The cymbal crash at the end is perfect! I always feel let down when I go to a performance of Tchaikovsky's 4th and don't hear it.
I've been the cymbal player a few times on this piece. Although I'm sore at the end, I'm giving that final cymbal crash all I got!!
They're such a huge orchestra! There's, like, BILLIONS of them on that stage! ;)
I fell in love with this movement the moment I heard it! Very impressed... congrats the orchestra!
It’s amazing that these young people are so good at

fabulous in every way I can think of
As long as you get the bombastic feeling of this movement the tempo doesn't really matter. Therefore I think this is a fantastic performance by SBYOV and Gustavo Dudamel.
Fantastic!!! Too bad the recording was not in HD...
i love Gustavo Dudamel!!!!
Dudamel vai ser o novo Karajan. Bravo!!! Como é boa está orquestra!!! Impressionante!!!
I was the 667th one to "like" this video so I was the one single-handedly responsible for preventing it from becoming cursed! You're welcome!
Extraordinary performance by the Dude and SBYO! Kudos
Thanks!!
What a great conductor and musician he is.
"WOW!!!!!!!"❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Magnificent!!!!!👏👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌🙌✨✨✨✨
Extraordinary
Pretty sure I saw smoke coming off those instruments...especially on the last section. Spectacular rendition of that movement!
It's a perfection!
Oh my God that is so good
saluti dall'Italian Brass week 2012
venite a trovarci.....ovvio gli ottoni...los metal.......
me encanta
Currently playing this in my youth orchestra... We have such a small orchestra... Only 3 trombonists and 1 trumpeter, 3-4 horns... Envious that the they had leigons of them...
EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed! I get the same feeling if you watch their Shostakovich 10 at Royal Albert Hall
Muy bien maestro esa obra
excelente
we are playing this in orchestra , i believe i will NEVER get up to this tempo -.-
This is little bit too fast ,anyway
Wow i would stand no seating back need it, no other to be played needed, impressive! Crazy tempo
O som de Deus....
I'm glad this video is here, but sad that it's only
I would probably be faking at this tempo

CHavismo took it to this Level sorry to say for you!
Crank it up!

London never had it so good.
MTT did one recording of this which I think is pretty awesome, look it up!
NEVER LIKED MTT, HE'S LIVING OFF BERNSTEIN'S FAME, BUT NEVER MADE THE BERNSTEIN MARK, LIKE BERNSTEINS OLD KIDS.
My friend, I have actively looking for this for quite a while so many thanks!
Do you have the rest of the symphony? Or the first movement at least??
Is this orchestra still around in 2022?
The last chord of this movement does not contain a cymbal crash, only triangle, but otherwise a great performance!
This is how you play Tchaikovsky.
What the fuck did I just watch? So much win.
Well I like it pretty much, but still, given that Tchaikovsky is a Romantic composer, I think that this piece Outta be some what slower... What are your opinions?
wow no I LOVE it, it give me goosebumps everytime I hear it, it's phenomenal!
Gustavo Dudamel the greatest conductor of alltime.
A modern-day Bernstein. I still think he was the best.
Dudamel is just a showman conductor, is the latin Andre Rieu...
For real Conductors there´s Gergiev
@@willow19460 this is absolutely great but nothing beats Bernstein
6:30 if you miss, you'll die
Ridiculously fast tempo!
are you sure about that the last chord would be at least FCC so there's no way you would hear a triangle.
@1tufboy Ridiculous comment!!! That's because you can't reach it! The best ever!!
It’s a bit fast don’t you think
What happened to you? I miss the uploads they were awesome
So fast,
I want to marry that flautist
for her musicality of course
No problem with the tempo (Mravinsky is even quicker, and Tchaikovsky marked it "con fuoco"), but I'm starting to object to the habit of using these humongous ensembles, which appears to be particularly virulent among Venezuelan youth orchestras. The Fourth is scored for a much smaller ensemble (e.g., two trumpets; I'm counting at least the double amount here). I'm no purist and an interpreter should never be a 'slave' (sorry, Maurice Ravel), but just doubling the orchestra in size does things to the orchestral balance that fundamentally alters the sound. The result here is that it sounds far more brass-heavy than in the original instrumentation to the detriment of the strings and woodwinds (the latter all but disappear). Moreover, dynamic differences are greatly enlarged. The finale of the Fourth isn't exactly the most subtle piece of music to begin with, but this approach removes all traces of finesse.
The Berlin Philharmonic under Herbert von Karajan also followed the practice of using very large ensembles. But I think this practice is only ideal for post-Romantic repertoire (e.g. Mahler, Richard Strauss).
You kidding? The bigger the better.
Bom Cabedal REALLY??????
yeh, but you're talkiung about Mahler and its enormous essembles. This is Tchaikovsky's and the original orchestation is not that bigger...
@@willow19460 HOLLA😉
The speed is vulgar truly
Too fast!
