Filipinos/Filipinas are great teachers, mostly because they love to engage with their students and they truly care, and that’s the most important part especially during the early stages of education like Elementary through Junior and even Senior school, Filipinos/Filipinas will help these children develop. Putting in the effort to help your students goes a long way, and that is what most Filipino and Filipina teachers do. 😊
We need to help younger students not get neglected as this will carry through on towards as they get older, and most cases it could become problematic if left neglected. This is where Filipino/Filipinas come in.
I think many other countries should learn about the Philippines and their hospitality - a lot of it has to do with how welcoming people are. A little bit off topic but I think worth mentioning that we have less “mass shooting” or even close to zero because we do not carry the mentality of “if I suffer, I’ll make you suffer with me”, but of course that is always not the case, but to many Filipinos. And I believe the biggest contributing factor to this is because children are taught to respect others especially people who are older than them, right at a very young age. Discipline is the biggest key, but of course there will always be some “loose” ones but there are less of those.

@@TheDemouchetsREACT You're describing Philippines exactly. Though with the added drawback of earning what US teachers earn in an hour to 1-2 Days in the Philippines. Another downsides to it in the Philippines is that teachers visit students in their homes incase of absences with the money coming out of their own pocket. Also, the job doesn't end at 5 in the afternoon after school dismisses for the day. They have tons of paperworks that end up being done until 2 am. Teachers also serves as nurses, etc. They deworm kids, hold hygiene sessions(brushing, washing hands) as a classroom event. That's from Pre School until highschool.

We here she grew up, Manila, the University I went to in 1965 had 28k students and 4 more Universities within within 10 to 20 minutes walk away with approximately same number of students surrounded by tons of movie houses, restaurants, malls. (Kidding) 😂 But she’s from Manila, which is bustling, busy and everything is around you - gigantic malls, tons of restaurants with food from all over the world, places to spend your days off, 24hr stuff. You know? Like New York or Tokyo, it never sleeps. So, the culture shock must have been magnified. But I’m from Manila like her, and I personally would want to move to a small town (tired of big city life.) I moved to a small town in Japan (more convenient with efficient railways, but still quiet and slow.) If you get people like that to come to your small towns, it would probably work out better. Plus there won’t be any language barriers like I had to contend with here in Japan, since we already speak English.

Filipinos are jacks of all trades. During a climate change meeting of world leaders many years ago, there was a question raised by one leader if it was possible to land on the sun. The American president quickly answered a loud "no way'. One leader at the far side of the huge round table shouted "yes, we can". And everyone looked to him and asked "How???. That was the president of the Philippines who said "easy" and probed his point: "Why land on the sun during the day when it is very hot? Land on the sun during the night when the sun is cold". Confused & bewildered, the American president who could not believe what he heard gave a fleeting glance at the Philippine president, then shook his head and let out a loud murmur "Damn, why NASA lied to me it is possible!"

Some of these teachers returned to US after completing their duties and some remained in the Philippines the rest of their lives. That's precisely the issue within the USA presently where instructors aren't professionally compensated well, the reason numerous American instructors cleared out their educating employments and a few chosen to go to other non-English speaking nations to teach is that they are paid well there. A parcel of Filipinos now is driving within the USA utilizing the J1 visa given by immigration. They're as it were permitted to work but not legitimately to apply for a changeless home or citizenship. The reason she said America is like for us New York or California is since that's precisely what we saw in American motion pictures. Food: We had to substitute almost everything to get the Filipino flavor, if we wanted authentic veggies, condiments, and spices we had to travel 3-4 hours to Charleston SC where there are more Filipinos lives, and there were only at least 10 families in Upstate SC at that time.

      I appreciate that tol.
There are many Filipino here now in Upstate SC, but unfortunately, some of us(the "originals"= 40+ years in Upstate SC) have our own group and not getting involved with the new some of the newcomers, we also have a Filipino association that my mom took part from its birth in 1982 or 83, the membership now is 200+ families from 10 at the begining.
My mom lives in Daytona Bch. and has been president and/or board member with the Filipino association for many years.
Volusia Co. alone has 3 Filipino groups, 2 break away from the original, so you will not see me joining any of that mess.😁

In my opinion, schools in small towns are much better than those in the cities or large towns, I grew up in a small town and both junior and senior high are combined in one big facility, what would attract teachers is the pay and health benefits to offset the rising costs of living, there have been many issues with pay and benefits in the larger school districts over the years and teachers are quiting their teaching careers and doing something else with better pay.

It seems surprising that a teacher would be unfamiliar with rural areas in the US, considering the expectation of educators to have a broad knowledge of geography. It is often assumed that teachers, like yourself, would possess a deeper understanding of different regions, even through exposure to American movies or other cultural resources.

In books, movies, television and magazines, they focus on major cities such as LA, SF, NYC. They don't write books or make movies about rural America. She went to school in the PI, and the last thing they would teach her about is some rural desserted place out of nowhere.

Anyway, when it comes to the weather, both rural and urban areas in the US are well-known to us Filipinos because of the prevalence of American movies. It's amusing how television and movies often depict cities in America, while we are more exposed to rural areas through American films. @@nepaliexplorer8221 I am not a teacher, but that doesn't diminish my understanding of rural areas in America. As a Filipino, we are exposed to and influenced by Western culture. While someone may have commented that American movies mostly focus on big cities, that is not entirely true. There are numerous American movies that are set in rural areas, showcasing the diverse landscapes and stories beyond the urban centers. Watching such movies has broadened our knowledge and challenged the notion that America is solely defined by New York or Los Angeles.
