- JAKE THE SNAKE | The Jake Roberts Story (Full Career Documentary)
There have been a lot of great personalities in wrestling. However, perhaps no one in the history of the industry has ever been able to perform with such an excellent grasp of psychology more than Jake “The Snake” Roberts. Yes, whether it be his masterful ability to hold crowds in the palm of his hand with his in ring work or his often chilling promos that proved you didn’t have to shout to be heard, few if any have ever built a more compelling character than him. But of course, with this delving into his own psyche came a whole host of personal demons being unleashed too. But how did it all happen? Well, join us today as we take a deep dive into his entire career journey in Jake the Snake: The Jake Roberts Story.

Hotrod: The Roddy Piper story

Who better! The chris kanyon story
Here comes the money. The shane mcmahon story
The Resurrection of Jake the Snake was one of the most emotional documentaries I have ever seen. I am happy Jake was finally able to defeat his demons and find happiness.
The way DDP has helped Jake and Razor is beautiful. Such a feel good story.
It was alright
I'll have to watch that some time
DDP deserves all the love, praise and admiration he gets for saving Jake The Snake Roberts' life.
Agreed 💯👍.. I have gratitude for DDP for setting his retirement plan to rescue former wrestling stars from self destructive behaviors.
DDP is the true MVP.
Yeah DDP is a great guy and im gonna try to be a better person 2 Jake is awesome 2 glad he is doing better and enjoying life believe me your life gets better without those drugs i always remember no demand no supply its really that simple thanks for reading this.
It's fantastic how DDP was able to basically save the lives of both Jake Roberts and Scott Hall, two of the greatest whose demons had almost brought to the brink of death.
And add years to the career of Dustin Rhodes
oof
Know it's Jake story but got to appreciate how much of a life saver DDP is
I’m not a religious man but if angels exist then ddp is for sure one of them
A friend of mine who was a wrestling manager a few years ago was able to take a DDT from him! Said it was one of the best experiences of his life!
Jake was the coolest wrestler when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s he was bad ass the way he had the snake in the bag and you kept looking at his matches waiting for him to let it out. One of the best ever.
Roberts is legend!
DDP has earned a lifetime of respect for all that he has done. He stayed true and never abandoned his comrades.
Even though I didn’t watch until way later, I’ve always liked Jake The Snake Roberts. His promos are spine chilling and hypnotizing. And his in ring work is excellent along with his psychology.
I see the Darkside of the ring episode about Jake the snake and I feel so bad for him and his siblings i’m glad everything turned out OK for him in the end
Jake roberts did a promo in which he just moves his lips for a few seconds, an says the he doesn't even have to say anything to capture our attention.
Can someone give the source and name o that promo?
I saw Jake at an Indy show back in 2013 this was when DDP was helping him get his life back together. After the show he got on the mic and stated talking about how he was getting his life back together and I still remember him saying “Kids don’t do drugs” it’s probably one of the best things I experienced at a wrestling show and something that I’ll never forget
Jake had his demons. But I saw him at a show in '98 & I'll never forget it. He was in the ring at intermission, taking pics with fans. This little girl (probably 9 or 10) was in the front row asking for an autograph. Jake stopped what he was doing. Had a ln attendant grab the book, signed it & gave it back. Didn't try to get money from the parents like many others back then would've. That girl's smile didn't leave her face the rest of the night. Jake had his issues. But he's a class act in my book.
I'm glad Jake has been able to become the man he is today. He fell so far and brought himself back. It's inspiring how he managed to do it and thanks will always be to ddp for helping in that process for not only Jake but so many people around the world.
I'm glad Jake "The Snake" Roberts made the feature here and rightfully so! One of the best in-ring minds of all time with the most known finishing move The DDT! To this day wrestlers use the move but none is better than its creator!!!
His WWF theme song had an 80s feel to it, still the best theme songs of all time alongside Mr. Perfect and I listen to it so often.
This was good. Let’s see TERRY FUNK next.
Love this channel! Keep rocking it Andy
Appreciate it man bro, you’re the man, love your vids too 👊🏻🤟🏻💪🏻
Haha man what a beautiful story of the DDT creations "he slipped while holding the wrestler neck" 🤣🤣🤣
Only to get a huge pop
"You are a sick man, Jake Roberts." - "Thank you very much."
One of the greatest heels in the business.
Finally Jake "the snake" Robert, I enjoy the narration and how detailed it is. Keep up the great work!
Jake had incredible charisma and overcame some unbelievable hardships-defeating them on camera no less! One of the ATG's! Jake💪& DDT's forever🤘
You guys remember that (botched) clip of Jake saying "You wanna play 21? I got 22!" It's actually NOT a botch, but a very clever promo. I'll explain it.
"You wanna play 21? I got 22" (As in a .22 caliber handgun)
"You wanna play blackjack? I got 2 of those too" (Blackjacks are a type of weapon used for beating people with)
"You wanna play aces and eights? I got too many of those too" (Aces and eights refers to the Dead Man's Hand, the cards Wild Bill Hickok was holding when he was shot dead)
Although delivered in a sloppy, slurred, drunken manner, it's actually a pretty decent promo! The more you know!
I have a tremendous amount of respect for Jake "The Snake Roberts. What he OVER CAME WHAT HE HAS OVERCOME is absolutely amazing. He could have died thrice times. He survived, then he thrived. Much respect to Diamond Dallas Paige. WHO STOOD BY HIS SIDE. MUCH RESPECT TO BOTH MEN. EXCELSIOR!!!!
Can we *please* have Ricky Steamboat's story at some point?
I remember doing coke and speed with this guy in the late 80’s early 90’s he got out so did I. Deffeting demons rather than becoming nothing. Love you brother.
I used to get shit scared as a kid, on seeing Jake holding a snake.
Joe Rogan has an amazing interview with the Snake
Thanks for this great documentary on Jake “The Snake” Roberts. I’ve been in attendance at some of his matches and have met him personally a few times. Regardless of how his personal demons had affected him, Jake gave me the impression that he was genuinely a good guy. I have to agree that he was a master psychologist when it came to cutting promos and he didn’t have to yell to be heard nor to get his message across. Jake is tall at around 6’5” or 6’6” but was not overly bulked up like Hogan or Warrior. And yes, I remember the crowd chanting for the DDT...those were the days!
Jake should have been WWF champion
The movie "the wrestler", the documentary about Jake the snake, and Jake's stories on JRE are what made me realize what pro wrestlers how much sad shit many wrestlers go through besides physical pain
It's still real to me dammit!
Jake was my favorite wrestler growing up mid 80s early 90s
Its so emotional to see legends and superstars overcome the dark side. Thanks andy
Thanks for watching bro 💪🏼
@@WRESTLEWITHANDY Anytime. Still waiting for the next video
Jake roberts did a promo in which he just moves his lips for a few seconds, an says the he doesn't even have to say anything to capture our attention.
Can someone give the source and name o that promo?
One of a few wrestlers who didn't need a belt to prove he's one of the best!
Been waiting for this one.
LET'S GO!!!!! I can't wait to watch this!! Thanks so much!!!
A wonderful video. Thanks for making it.
Thanks for watching 💪🏼🤘🏻
Great video bro can't wait for El Santo
You have great content and do great narration of it. Really enjoy your vids.
I've seen a few of these types of videos on Jake. And I do like yours better. You did a good job on your telling. Thank you so much for this.
Thank God he's still with us.
I just love his story and I'm glad God got a hold of his life
Yo Andy these videos rule man I’ve literally watched all the wrestling ones ..brings back great memories
Jake should have been a WWE Champion. One of the greatest on the mic EVER and unlike most of the others who were great on the mic, who were loud and bombastic, he was cunning and calculated.
He got back in shape thanks to ddp
Great video
Wowsers I loved him, and I cried when his snake Damien was crushed, so glad he's finally got better. Great video thanks 💖😁
Love the content all of the wrestlers are so unique and unexpected.
Id like to see George The Animal Steeles story
not a huge fan of the guy but its a very touching story how he has managed to overcome such challenges. Drug addict and a victim of child-abuse.
Thank you!! My favorite wrestler of all time!
Great video on a great wrestler! Jake is on my top 5 list as his ability to manage the emotions of the crowd set him apart and always had me watching; similar to how The Rock did in the attitude era
I watch every one bro! Keep doin ya thang
Awesome video Andy, yet again!
Just a minor error I noticed however is at 12:48 you say about with WCW and WCW’s doors being closed... I think you meant with WWE and WCW’s doors being closed.
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned that or picked up on it.
Regardless, just thought you might want to know.
Keep up the great work/content, we all love these videos you put so much effort into!
🥰❤️👍
I like Jake the snake Roberts. He's fun to watch
What he's doing right now I haven't seen him in AEW in a long time?
Another legend of my youth. Loved his style especially on the mic. 👌
Awesome!!
First and for most I'm so glad Jake the snake turned his life around. Ok now. The ddt has and will always be my favorite wrestling move. Jake's promo work is top notch .
Jake is the absolute goat on the mic and promos period.
execellent video
Greatest wrestler on the mike ever bar none. Soft spoken, mean, very intelligent, thanks Jake for all the memories and great promo's.
I'm still lost at how Jake never held the heavy weight title at least once. If Orton has won it as many times as he's done then Jake and Rude should of won it once.
Or even the intercontinental champion belt.
@@Dumapower1996 I didn't think about that. This is crazy.
But ddp helped him he's a life saver!
These videos are awesome. Can you do one on The Iceman: Dean Malenko?
I remember when honky tonk man did that
When I was young I didnt particularly like Jake or Macho Man , I preferred the powerhouses or acrobatic guys but as I get older I see the personality they had
I loved macho as a kid. Early macho with the intercontinental belt with his robes star trunks and Elizabeth. My favorite of all time. I never like Jake then or now for some reason it just didn't work to me.
@@dterm8526 people like Jake and Randy were brought up in wrestling families, it wasn't just a job or a gig to them they really lived that life , Guys like that really created wrestling , Their characters were part of them and actually had alot of depth
One thing I can say is that regardless of everything he’s been through this man did his job so well in and out the ring one of the most remarkable heels
Great memories
What I love is how back then, the DDT would it opponents out cold but now guys barely are affected. Lol
That time he said "in the end were just dirt in a box" has always stuck with Me. Probably bc it's true.
This guy is amazing
Probably the best promo ever.
NOW could you please do a Shane Douglas story wrestle with Andy 👍
Nice.
Omg gotta got watch the vinettes with him and warrior...so awesome
Jake was a prototype for a wrestler should be on the mic and in the ring one of the all time greats
Jake's philosophy of matches being like love making was so good and makes perfect sense
Speaking of great fighters helped by ddp, could do a biography of the underrated buff bagwel
I remember he entered into a feud with earthquake
Personal hero and a wrestling god.
Have Jake the snake Roberts return and be a wwe writer that can start having older wwe wrestlers become wwe writers and we need that now days off wwe in 2021, and also the future
What does DDT stand for?
The end.
What a mad lad.
Notice at 13:48 he said wcw and wcw
Don't worry it's humans that make mistakes plus u probably work harder than anyone
OH OH MYYH GOAAAWWD YOU'RE MY FAV CZcamsR AND YOU HEART MY COMMENT
Jake talking about his childhood with Joe Rogan and Tony Hinchcliffe is heartbreaking, but also shows his intelligence.
What a story...
Sometimes I wonder, who is the bigger villain? McMahon or Hogan himself?😏
Neither they both made a fortune and built wrestling up so much everybody involved made money.
@@dterm8526 So they were both greedy
@@muhammadHassan-kj1jy I would call it successful
I remember when he scared him out of royal rumble with snake
Legend
His talk show was great!
The Commonwealth Kingpin: The Will Ospreay Story... BOOK IT!!!
Finally
Now we need Terry Funk's story!
happy halloween everyone
You as well
Please do EDDIE KINGSTON!
@13:46
"So now with WCW and wcw's doors closed. "
Lol I was un aware there were two WCW's
Jakes in my top 5 ever
That opponent was the grappler Len Denton. They would pitch ideas in the back on what to call the move.
Jake is top 10 all time. No doubt.
