How to rewire and replace the 3 terminal and candelabra socket of an Antique Table Lamp

Hi guys, in this video i rewire and replace the 3 terminal and candelabra socket. The common lenght of wire cord for table lamp is 8 to 9 feet long. i use a miniature LED bulb for the bottom light.

Hey, thanks for this! All I needed was to know the proper wiring spots and what this socket was called (It was erroneously called a "3-way socket" by the people I got it from), and I was able to pick up a new socket for 6 bucks and fix my old, valuable hurricane lamp. :)

Como esta usted? with respect Sir, it is not the wiring that is loose but the connection between the top and bottom globes. How do I tighten those connections? The lamp wobbles drunkenly.

Hi Danny I just want to make sure I'm wiring this correctly. It has two keyless sockets at the top one to the left one to the right and a little cluster body in between the two arms. A night light directly below the cluster body inside the cap and a three wire canopy switch. Very antique lamp. All the wiring is at the top of the lamp.

Hello Kathy, this is how you connect the wire. Connect the smooth side wire of the power cord to the black wire of the 3way switch. Then connect the red wire from the 3way switch to smooth side or black wire of the bottom socket or night light. And connect the blue wire from the 3way switch to smooth side wire on 2 keyless sockets on top light. Then connect the rough side wire from the power cord to rough side or white wire of the bottom socket or night light together with the rough side wire of the 2 keyless socket on top light.

which side is the white side attached to for lower light - neutral or hot (smooth or ribbed)? which is silver if not have silver tip black tip wires?

Hi there! The white wire or neutral of the bottom socket or bottom light attache to the silver terminal or neutral of the top socket or top light together with the neutral or ribbed of the power cord.

I blew out a fuse because I miss understood what the diagram of the wire placement is. I had to watch the video a few times to understand what is going on. People that don't understand electrical will not understand the meaning of textured "wrapped" and smooth wire when it comes to the universal negative/ground and positive/hot or neutral. Clear communication is key to a tutorial or teaching new people. Proceed with caution! The miss understanding of this tutorial can lead to a hazardous fire or electrocution. Daboy has good intentions and has an understanding of what he is doing but has poor English and visual demonstration skills. I figured out how to put it simple. Black wire from lower socket goes to (Black screw). Positive/hot from plug wire goes to (Brass screw). The white wire from the lower socket and the Negative/ground from the plug wire go together on the (Silver, Metallic, Chrome color screw). Please take this as constructive precaution for the sake of everyone's safety. If you feel unsafe about this project please take your lamp to a local lamp repair shop.
