Welcome back Mr Biased. I hope you had a nice trip. Josh ❌ THJ ❌ DJJ ❌ Klay ✅ Naji ✅ Grimes ✅ I really like the moves Nico and his staff made. Definitely got better and they also didn’t need to give up any 1st round picks to do it.
Will the Dallas mavs bring back the 00s away Navy blue and Silver Jerseys?. There still a lot of fans that want those jerseys back even as a a throwback atleast?
@@james9580 I like the black, but we need to bring back the green ones or the throwback white ones that have green letters/numbers with a blue outline. Similar to the ones the wolves had this year. Those are my all time favorite
@@Spacewalk11yeah but the green one already got a lot of Love and can still buy them the Navy Silver ones of the 2000s are hard to get it would be nice to bring it back those made me a MAVS fan
people need to make peace, clean there house, dust off their shelves, and understand how much klay will elevate this team. 40% on damn near on 9 attempts... A tall defensive minded front court thatll help klay be better on defense. Less need to run around screens so he has more energy for defense. This move will light up the league after a 15 game adjusting grace period. Trust
You know Nick is for real as a Star Wars fan when he references the "I lied" Vader quote from the Force Unleashed. We already knew he was for real, but this puts it beyond all doubt.
The DJJ stuff is clearly related to Klutch Sports, all of a sudden everything changed once he signed with Klutch, and this fits so well with how they operate. It felt like by declaring that he wanted to stay a Mavs he lost his leverage, so Klutch tried to bait the Mavs, Nico said, ok then and signed Naji Marshall. Nico is well versed in Rich Paul moves, for sure. Maybe Klutch thought they would stall and get the Mavs to compromise but once that happened, Mavs moved on and DJJ had to accept the Clippers offer. If you put the tax part into it, I'm not even sure if $1M/year more is that much better considering you wanted to stay. One could argue that now DJJ would have more playing time, that he would be a starter instead of playing behind Klay. But DJJ never struck as someone that cared that much about his role, playing time, etc. not to mention the fact that one thing is to get open looks created by Luka and another is having Kawhi as the main guy and Harden is NOT Luka. It does feel like Klutch would say oh, but being a starter will help you get a better contract next time or something like that, which is probably not true. There are lots of examples of players that looked great around Luka and that were never the same after, you can include Dinwiddie, Bullock and even DFS. I don't think that $1M/year difference is worth what DJJ ended up giving up.
Going from DJJ to Naji you lose the lob threat, but Naji's marginally better 3-pointer and bursts of playmaking can potentially more than make up for it. What I'm more worried about is if Naji can be the equal of DJJ as a POA defender on the smallest guards. But if Grimes returns to his old Knicks form he can take Naji's spot for those matchups and you're fine.
Naji can still catch a lob, he a big guy. Not as athletic as DJJ obviously but Luka gon make him get up there a few times. And then you got Gaff/Lively and even PJ who can catch a lob. Lob City Mavericks are coming back lol
I don't know if this was Nico's plan all along but if you really look at this roster (especially if they can get DSJ) there appears to be a very interesting theme with it. And it's a really interesting way to look at the way the roster is built. We all saw what Gafford & Lively did for this team. It gave Dallas 48 minutes of really good C play. Then there's the other-worldly PG play from Luka & Kyrie giving you 48 minutes at that spot. And I have a feeling that Nico is trying to do this for the team. PJ & Naji strike me as very similar players. Good defenders who can guard 1-5 but their sweet spot is 2-5. PJ has flirted with 38% from 3 for a few years and Naji shot 38% last season. Both are gonna be Stand on Business type of dudes. So there's 48 minutes of kinda the same guy and you're really happy with the original guy. So why not another? Klay & Grimes. I've heard from many Knicks people that they really believed Grimes was gonna be the next Klay. And I suppose he still could be...and imagine that, this Klay Jr gets to see exactly how Klay does things. But that would be freaking insane if Grimes did show out to be a young Klay. I mean, even if he's a Bargain Basket Klay in his prime then that's a damn good player. The question is where are you getting 48 minutes from the SG? You're getting some from Luka & Ky. But where's the remainder coming from? And this is where DSJ can fit in. I feel like Kidd could cobble together some really good minutes from Exum, Hardy & DSJ. Exum is like you're all round guard off the bench...does some offense does some defense. Then Kidd's got Hardy to use when he needs more offense than defense. And when Kidd needs more defense than offense he would have DSJ. Then you've got Maxi as like an X-Factor type of thing. But looks like Nico's got some really good 48 minutes from each position.
Hardy? Exum? Not to mention that Grimes can play SG too. Specially if defense is needed. I am more concerned if there are enough minutes for Hardy, and even more O-Max, to get the reps needed to take the next steps. If DSJ wants to sign for the vet Min, cool. If not we should keep the roster spot open, or sign someone for a non guaranteed vet Min contract.
What if Klay already discussed being the 6th man THJ role? He did pick JET’s number #31. I personally think Kyrie should be the 6th man. Give luka Klay, Lively and TWO real defenders in the other spots to start games. Close with 4th quarter Kyrie!
Anyway, Luka may rest more often, with Kyrie and Klay/Dante on the floor, depending the other team...
Před měsícem
Hardy is going to be a better option as a 6th man playing around 24 minutes each game. Allow Gafford to back up Lively and we’ll have to see if Dallas is able to get O-Max on the floor ahead of Maxi. I’m not sure how Marshall and Grimes will be incorporated but Kidd definitely has an idea or Nicco wouldn’t have acquired them. But Hardy is definitely the Jamal Crawford type Dallas needs as a 6th man.
I'm more excited about how our 2nd unit will look than our starting lineup. I think out Luka Kyrie Klay lineups will just be the same offense we've been running where we dare you to not double the ball handler of Luka/Kyrie. I think Klay with only one of those on the floor will have us break out more actual creative plays to get PJ and Klay looks.
"Shut it down, let's go home!"-Big Dirk. Great show. I'm so glad Mavs got better even after a finals run. Let's go, Mavs! Ready for next season and to see how Klay "Splash" Thompson does for us! The next couple of seasons will be fun!
Green can't navigate screens, and Grimes is a more willing 3pt shooter. It's irrelevant if Green is a better basketballer 1 on 1, for what the Mavs need Grimes is a better fit. He can provide competition for the primary POA defender spot in the way Green could not.
Grimes still on a 1 year deal and the Mavs can't afford to give up on 1st round talent drafted with the picks they have given up although the upside it were for players in Luka's age range(PJ and Gaff). Still a gamble as Green still had more potential to grow on defense as wasn't afraid of shooting in big moments. He was key in that game 6 comeback vs OKC with his hustle. Grimes has big shoes to fill and he is expected to cover this while just joining a new scheme and is coming off injury time off. It's still a risk but with high upside.
@@beastscale1892lets stop with this bullshit. Josh was a bench player at best, earning 14 milion a year. What are we even talking about, thats a bad contract for what he brings.
@A7JJ77 Yeah last game as a Mav he drops 14 points in the Finals while going 5/8. Josh had his ups and downs like most young players but we aren't going to act like he was trash and didn't offer anything. He was a great hustle guy that didn't fear jumping into the post for rebounds while also attacking the basket. We need Grimes to step up especially for the departure of athletic talents like DJJ and Green.
Tons of lineup combination possibilities so hard to project mins but Kidd has a ton of versatility at his disposal. One of the biggest changes I’m hoping to see is a Gafford & Lively lineup. Not to start but through the course of the game.
Marshall AND Grimes are an upgrade over Jones AND Green. Klay is a offense AND defense upgrade over Hardaway. This team HAS upgraded both offense and defense overall.
To me Grimes and Naji set you up for 2+ years down road. Klay retires in 2-3 years, Kyrie becomes 6moy in 2 years. Grimes and Naji fill 2/3 spots as starters locked in with Luka/DLive/PJ timeline.
Was mentioned that Grimes might start. I think its possible. Take a look at this list of players:- Fabricio Oberto, DeJuan Blair, Keith Bogans, George Hill, Francisco Elson, Roger Mason and Matt Bonner. All of these players Started more games then Manu Ginóbili, over the course of 4 seasons of Manu's prime. People forget Manu moved to the bench role at 29 years old when he was arguably the second best player on the Spurs. In 2007-08 he lead the team in scoring and steals, 2nd in assists, 4th in rebounds, 3rd in minutes and won 6th man of the year at age 30. That is the role Kyrie should play for this team. Luka, Klay and Kyrie combine for 96 minutes always with 2 of them on and 1 off, which was basically how Pop used Manu, Parker and Duncan. With that all said benching Kyrie to be the best bench scorer of all time might unlock something. That does not mean he is not the second best player on the Mavs because as mentioned Manu was second best player on the Spurs and they won a ring with him coming off the bench.
Mavs defense counts on two guys being solid and everyone playing their role. People are worried about Klay. Klay can still play team defense and knows where to be and how rotations work. That is something that torpedoed our defense every time THJ stepped on the court. The only player I am worried about torpedoing the defense is Luka. Disagree. New intro music is better. The old intro is iconic and will always be sweet but I like the change. Things change - the team - the co-host. I’m glad it is retried.
He deleted all social media and news apps before leaving for Europe. He wanted to be out of touch and fully involved in his vacation. Also, became an awesome stream that SB and Nick just recorded on SB’s CZcams. It’s funny bc there are a bunch of fake feee agency moves that Nick throws at SB.
What about starting lineup vs. next 5 guys... on training.... Luka, Kyrie, Klay, PJ, Lively vs. Exum, Hardy, Mashall, Grimes, Gafford... man where is place for Omax, Kleber, Powell? I would not bet on 2022/23 end of season starting 5 Mavs if they play against Exum, Hardy, Marshall, Grimes and Gafford... Mavs will be super strong again!
Again they're dinwiddie away from being a complete team coming into the ssn. You can't blame dinwiddie for choosing lakers because mavs weren't even a playoff contender before the trade deadline and possibly him getting traded played a big part in his decision. Dinwiddie is a better pickup than dsj. Dinwiddie is a big upgrade from exum. Defensively, dsj is that guy but we need a legit playmaker once luka sits out on the bench and play with kyrie.
We need a speed bunny, a dawg on defense that work as a facilitator the 2nd unit that can kill defenders with speed, leave them behind at the same time finding shooters. That would open lots of space. Look IND play better than us even tho they got swept but they almost won 3 of these games because they play with speed. Speed will kill Boston. We need to get back to the Dallas 2011 style of play
What I'm excited about is the small defensive upgrade from THJ to Klay. Klay can't move well since the injuries, but at least he understands defense theoretically speaking in his head. THJ efforted and tried but was like a headless chicken out there, just no defensive IQ, hopeless from the get-go. At least with Klay he knows what he ought to be doing, it's just a matter of can his lame foot get him there in time.
Lively and Gafford can’t remain confined to within 5 feet of the bucket. They need to develop a respectable jump shot….Celtix took full advantage of their limitations.
@@Tall-Cool-Drink no lively is actually a decent three point shooter just hasn’t had a chance to showcase it in games because teams he been on hasn’t really needed lively for 3 point shooting. Mavs didn’t really on it because they had decent shooters who could knock down a couple threes like luka, ky, Tim, pj, maxi, hardy, green and what they were in need of was a big man. Celtics is really the only team were mavs struggled shooting wise and could have used an extra shooter. It’s not that lively can’t shoot he just wasn’t needed to shoot
@@dabestgoat9367 Then Kidd must be a moron of a coach. I’m not even talking about 3 pointers. I’m just talking about being versatile enough to be respectable from about 12-15 feet.
QG is better than Green lol. Much better shooter, better ball handler and simmilar in defence. Green was more of a hustler but thats about it when we compare the different areas of BB play between those 2.
if that podziemski dude in golden state who relpaces klay averages 18 points like klay did in a down year they gonna offer him the max lol our gain their loss.
The trades move the needle... unfortunately it moves the needle backwards. We've given up way too much athleticism and speed, which you need in spades with Luka. We've lost one of our best shot blockers. We've lost 2 excellent transition players, which is now a massive area of weakness. We've lost our best point of attack defender. Green shot 39% on 3 in the playoffs - the best on the team, and better than Klay's % this year.

We need to get back to the Dallas 2011 style of play
Dinwiddie didn’t want to come to Dallas. So, screw him…😂
What I'm excited about is the small defensive upgrade from THJ to Klay.
If we say Klay is a THJ replacement then grrst, but untill i see Grimes and Marshall play in the regular season Im not yet excited for it
Ayy, we just signed B.Will. As a new mavs fan, is he any good at all?
He’s on a two way.
Anything
Lively and Gafford can’t remain confined to within 5 feet of the bucket. They need to develop a respectable jump shot….Celtix took full advantage of their limitations.
Lively can shoot
@@dabestgoat9367
Yeah. From 6 feet away.
Outside of 6ft he’s no threat.
@@dabestgoat9367
Then Kidd must be a moron of a coach.
I’m not even talking about 3 pointers. I’m just talking about being versatile enough to be respectable from about 12-15 feet.
Dinwiddie.
Can you play DSJ in the playoffs?
Probably not.
Dinwiddie can.
I didn't realize nick is tall
Is fake Klay coming to DTown??
Grimes is definitely better than Josh green 100% on defense and offense. Better shooter on more attempts
Basketball mavericks
blue room 🎉
QG is better than Green lol. Much better shooter, better ball handler and simmilar in defence. Green was more of a hustler but thats about it when we compare the different areas of BB play between those 2.
Green's shooting %s are better than Grimes. How do you figure Grimes is a "much netter" shooter?
@@edwinblack-rw5xk look at mechanics of his shoot and what stas are you looking at? Carrer shooting %?
The worst non sign, to me, was Carmelo Anthony. It was the worst for him, as well.... Because we won after.... And he still hasn't
🦝
Mavs still didn't got a creater klay nice but he can't create
if that podziemski dude in golden state who relpaces klay averages 18 points like klay did in a down year they gonna offer him the max lol our gain their loss.
Nah, we definitely moved the needle forwards
