Thanks for sharing Ken. I’m 42 now and sometimes I feel like it’s too late to do big things. Ive been working on myself the last 2 years, getting healthy and eating clean I lost 80lbs and started doing things I never thought I could. I could go on forever but wanted you to know that you opening up about these things have helped me realize that it’s never too late and the first step is the most important. Thanks Bro.

Congrats on your sobriety it's definitely not easy to do I'm 44 years old and have 11 years now and in the beginning it was tough. It took me waking up in a project apartment to my Mom banging on the door . Seeing her crying crushed me you never want to hurt your Mom like that. But when you are in the moment getting high you don't realize you are hurting the people around you. This past week is a year I lost my Mom to cancer and I promised her I wouldn't go back to that life. And I plan on keeping this promise she wasn't just my mom she was my bestfriend. Thank you for this video you are always upbeat and positive really enjoy that. I have always liked bikes but since finding your channel awhile back I have been wanting to get one of my own . And maybe someday financially I will be able to but till then I will enjoy it thru your channel. Sorry for the long comment lol got me thinking and I was up feeding our 4 month old a bottle while I watched lol. Have a good weekend and stay safe Jimmy from North Attleboro Massachusetts

Glad you changed your life for the best, I quit drinking almost 8 years ago when I realised either I'm gonna loose everyone and everything, best choice I made lost to many good friends to drugs and drink, in those years I totally realised my worth and realised what an "selfish" ass I was, don't really remember much before my 30s and probably for the best, love your family and the channel you're a great dude and an inspiration.

Thanks for the inspiring words! I own 3 CR500s and made my own aluminum frame conversion out of a 2005 CRF250R. I love riding. However, almost a year and a half ago my life got totally derailed. I used to have a high paying, high profile government job and was working steadily towards retirement. Long story short, I was falsely accused of a serious crime and in a heartbeat I was out of work, jailed, and deeply stuck in the legal system. Thanks to a bloodthirsty and rabid media I was plastered all over the news from coast to coast and they had me as guilty before my first day in court! I lost most of my friends and acquaintances, my reputation, gained 130lbs (in 1.5 years from stress), my job, and my livelihood. It is VERY HARD to find anything to be positive about, but I keep moving forward. I WILL SUCCEED! With God in my corner, I will come out of this vile situation successfully in late 2023 when the trial is. Your words help me considerably. I want to get back in shape enough to ride another summer with my Dad, while he's still interested in riding. Thanks!

Wish I could say the last 3 1/2 years sober was so great for me but it hasn't been.
Your passion is still an awesome inspiration.
Tomorrow I'll go out and install the exhaust I bought from racing-planet-USA and imported from Europe for the USA assembled Vento Triton R4 50cc 2 stroke that I have ( this thing could boogie but only liked smooth pavement - carb clean! it's been sitting at least 6 mths ).
It will at least give me a back up delivery scooter as I beat on the battered Buddy 125 I finally wrassled into reliability.
I will say you are right. You have to be sober no matter how tough the sledding is.

Congratulations on 31 years on being sober That is incredibly awesome Ken Sr, I love the way you talked about it when you said we can be our best teachers, well that's definitely true learn from your mistakes, I've been down that road for about 11 years of drinking and partying, so when I got sick and tired of being sick and tired I rebuilt my life with my incredible girlfriend and had my first son a little Jr, I brought him a brand new Honda CRF 50cc dirt bike when he turned 4, he wants to race so he's getting better on that bike then his next bike will be a Gas Gas 65cc and I want the Gas Gas 509cc and to 300cc and the Justin Barica 450 edition I grew up with him but I'm buying these dirt bikes of you because I can't wait to meet you you have inspired me alot on that video thank you so much Ken Sr and Ken Jr and the rest of your beautiful family for all the videos,, he's alot like me he was the best that ever happened to me when I watched my son being borned, it was the best high in the world, so little Jr Eric Balko is going to be the future he loves riding we go to open practice at Walden play boy track and ace track he's getting good quick so, he wants a faster bike, I love my son just like you love your kids, and I love all your great videos and the great goals you have have set and always but 101 percent towards all your goal, I can't wait till everything is done stuff you got in line, and I love how you boarded your property with that beautiful concrete wall and those awesome lions your property with those cement, pillars with the beautiful lions, man I have to say sorry I talked to much but you work really hard and Ken Jr and the family and team are always right there with you helping you, God bless you and your beautiful family Ken and congratulations again on 31 years clean,, God bless

And like you said there will be set backs, but keep pushing and stay forward, I bought a brand new car a fully loaded Nissan Murano Cash money brand new 2018 at the time and my son was a couple months away from being born, I was on my way home from work from the city and two older women blew a stop sign and slammed into the side of my brand new car I only had for a month, I Thank God that I woke up in the hospital, but with serious injury's 5 herneated disc in my neck my back is even worse I don't wish that pain on no buddy barley walking and every step I take pain shots up to my back from both legs from my siatica, so it's been 5 years and my back and neck are still not right and are getting worse, I had 7 MRI's and everyone is getting worse and worse, so I had my deposition and it got cancelled because my lawyers want me to go in for surgery and I finally agreed, I kept saying nah I'll heal, so I need the surgery bad I guess my girlfriend is like you walk with a limp everyday, so I'm just going through all the b,s stuff now where I'm on the phone with my lawyers, because my surgeon orthopedic I have now sucks, they keep rescheduling my appointments so I got rid of him and I found myself a great Orthopedic for back and neck surgeon in New Jersey, because If I need this surgery I want it done right and in the next 3-5 months I need to go back to work I'm only 32 years of age, I've been pushing to go for walks with my son and he's like daddy why you always hurt, and crying in pain, so I said when you get older daddy will tell you when you will understand better, right now daddy is hurt, so man that was a big set back for me but once I wake up with my son next to me every morning and kiss his face, and get his juice ready because we bond like me and my father do but me and my father ride, but I can't ride now because Everytime I hit a bump my back goes out, so for now I teaching my son how to ride, he's great man me and my son bond we wake up together and we watch our favorite cartoons every morning together, and mommy goes to work as a x-ray technician, she's a great mother and always been there for me, we both been together since highschool, so I'm using icy-hot alot on my neck and back or I'll lay down with a big bag of ice on my back, so I don't give up and I will recover from this surgery and take my son to awesome events like you do and go back to work Driving trucks,
But first once I settle and get my lawsuit money I'm going up to your The best of the best of motorcycle shops "The New England Motorcycle shop" I'm taking 84 East right to your shop and buying a few Gas Gas Dirt bikes like I said,... thank you Ken Sr for the awesome words of wisdom and encouragement and ken Jr and your whole family
      God bless you all...

It took me over forty years to figure out but if you do right by people, change the scenery, surround yourself with positive people/things you can minimize the bad times, the lows. Seriously you are inspiring! I'm currently having some troubles with alcohol, but watching your video's and amazing growth in the process truly bring me peace for a few moments at a time

Well said and well done! You inspire others to see the positives to do better. I myself turned it around in May of 1985 life wasn't easy or fruitful immediately but got brighter each day of being sober. Thank you for sharing

This is the best motivational speech ever! I've heard 'em all, but this one is the best! Ken Kaplan, despite his humility, is a genius. I watch all his videos, as I'm close in age and obsessed with motorcycles. I, too, have been a partier, bodybuilder, and a guy who worked hard to achieve success. I'm still endeavoring, and Ken's story and honest presentation is like adding nitrous to the motor. I'm a wordsmith, yet I find Ken's genius to be ineffable. Thank you, Ken.

This meant the world to me I lost my parents and brother over the past three years and it’s been difficult and I’ve slipped here and there but I’m trying because I know they’d want better for me then what I was doing to my self.
