  • Parkinson's Dance Project is a creative movement class for persons with Parkinson's Disease, their partners, caregivers and friends. No dance experience is required. Our dance classes, accompanied by live music, integrate movement from multiple dance forms to stimulate our minds and bodies. We begin in chairs and eventually move to the barre and the center floor to focus on balance and spatial awareness. Our class focuses on developing artistry and grace while addressing such PD specific concerns as balance, flexibility, coordination, gait, and social isolation. This class is appropriate for anyone with PD, no matter how advanced. We aim to create an enjoyable social environment that emphasizes dancing for dancing's sake while having fun.
PDP classes are modeled after the Dance For PD program designed by the Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Parkinson's Group. Classes are co-taught by Torri Campbell, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist and former professional dancer and teacher and Brigid Hoag, former professional ballet and modern dancer and currently a teacher of all ages at Marin Dance Theatre.

This is inspiring! I incorporate movement and dance in my Music Matters work already. I would love to start a group like this up in Scotland!
