The worst quarterbacked game was a cursed display of spectacular ineptitude

  • There have been tons of football games where quarterbacks look like they have never thrown a ball in their life, but when Mark Sanchez and Ryan Lindley squared off in a 2012 game in New Jersey, that blew all of those away. There is no other conclusion to reach from this dumbfounding spectacle of pure, unadulterated sloppiness.

TBF, that game is somewhat understandable as like you said, neither team was playing with a true QB in that game, so you can't really expect much in the passing department.
Slice it anyway you want, there's no excuse for Lindley and Sanchez to play the way they did but pure incompetence.

Late to this comment section, but as I learned from Alex in the Falcons documentary, the true title for most ineptly quarterbacked game goes to 1973 Falcons vs Cardinals (sorry, Cards fans), where both starter QBs managed a passer rating on the day of 0.0, the only time this has ever happened
Gary Keithley completed 2/10 passes for 9 yards, 0 TD, and 1 INT
Bob Lee completed 3/16 passes for 27 yards, 0 TD, and 2 INT
Lee's backup Pat Sullivan was marginally better, with no interceptions, but still completed only 5/15 passes for 51 yards and no scores (PR: 44.0)

Secret Base, I know I'm 2 years late late but this should've been the worst quarterbacked game.
Week 6 1998 Chargers vs Raiders
    Chargers:
    Ryan Leaf: 7/18, 78 YDS, 0 TDs, 3 INTs 13.0 passer rating
    Craig Whelihan: 3/6, 19 YDS, 0 TDs, 1 INT, 17.4 passer rating
    Raiders:
    Donald Hollas: 12/35, 101 YDS, 0 TDs, 1 INT, 31.3 passer rating
    Wade Wilson: 1/7, 68 YDS, 1 TD, 0 INT, 107.1 passer rating

As a side note, on November 14, 1976, Giants quarterback Norm Snead completed just 3 of 14 passes for 26 yards and 2 interceptions and led the Giants to a thrilling 12-9 victory over the Washington Redskins. Not a single touchdown was scored in that game, and Snead became the last quarterback in NFL history to lead his team to victory with 0.00 quarterback rating in a single game.

October 11, 2009; Cleveland at Buffalo. Cleveland's Derek Anderson's line: 2 of 17 for 23 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT; Buffalo's Trent Edwards: 16 of 31 for 152 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT. I had Bills' season tickets for 21 years and this was the worst football game I ever saw, including preseason. The Bills had 9 false start penalties...at home. The final score of this debacle was 6-3, with the Browns winning.
