  • Cord Blood Stem Cells in the treatment of Krabbe Disease by Dr Yvonne Holt & Prof Carola Niesler (10th February 2021).
This webinar was conducted by Dr Carola Niesler and our Medical Director, Dr Yvonne Holt, on Cord Blood Stem Cells in the treatment of Inherited Metabolic Disorders: Krabbe Disease.
Krabbe disease is an inherited disorder that destroys the myelin of nerve cells in the brain and throughout the nervous system. There is currently no cure or effective treatment for Krabbe disease. Research does, however, suggest that an umbilical cord blood (UCB) transplant may help restore some degree of normal myelin production and maintenance and prevent further damage to the nerve cells.
