@qwrt271 they most likely couldn't show Marina "too much" for reasons involving spoilers and what exactly she does. But then again, the Nintendo Japan channel released a trailer showing Marina in what I would consider a pretty "spoilery" scene, so who knows what they were doing

Splatoon's always had creepy stuff here and there, but it looks like they're leaning into that fully and i'm all for it.

I honestly love how the other musicians are starting to make in-game appearances. First Harmony, now Deadf1sh! Wonder who else is going to appear later on.

I love how the devs always surprise us with unexpected things, thank you for the effort, attention to detail and love you put into this franchise. I don't regret giving this incredible universe and characters a chance. 💖

While I am super happy to see ded1sh in the DLC, I hope we get to see more agent 4. The last we’ve seen of her was during the splatoon 2 campaign so it would be nice to see her get some much needed attention, especially considering how she was planned to be a part of the octo expansion DLC based on the concept art I’ve seen.
Agent 4 is no different from agent 3. Given that all of the agents are just blank avatars for the player, adding agent 4 would add nothing to the stories, nor even to themselves as a character. Not to mention the fact that agent 4's relevance is overshadowed by agents 3 and 8

I really gotta give props to the animation and modelling team for all the gorgeous cutscenes. And I love how in the middle where 8, pearl-bot and def1sh were in the elevator their you could see their reflections on the metal and how it distorts in streaks of colour and it looks so pretty.
Fun fact: Dedf1sh (or "Acht")'s mouth isn't animated at all! It just snaps to open and closed when she speaks

The levels look gorgeous. PERFECTLY executed those themes of over-industrialization that would’ve been mass-spread if Team Order had won.
I remember just a couple days ago hoping beyond hope that Dedf1sh would actually finally make an in game appearance and the second that elevator I squealed so freaking hard. I love the atmosphere of the DLC though! Its so beautiful.

When the message for IA3 says it brings back memories, it implies that IA3 is at least partially a memory of when they were exposed to the Calamari Inkantation. I love that, in the first wave art, we see the main character of Splatoon 3 (who presumably is the portrayal for Agent 3 as well) with their back faced to the camera, looking over their left shoulder. Meanwhile in this Side Order art, we see 8's body fully facing the camera, looking over her right shoulder. If you put the two arts together, the agents would be almost back-to-back and looking at each other. Really small but cool detail😊💕

As someone who loves Splatoon's gameplay but absolutely HATES how the multiplayer is handled, an infinitely replayable solo mode is something I've wanted this entire time. This actually might convince me to buy 3!

I love multiplayer and am psyched because it means the game will be relevant past its server deletion. We can all still enjoy splatoon 3 for decades to come :)

yeah the MP is broken imo you try to catch a few fun matches but get paired against a bunch of sweaty matching abilities outfit people especially during splatfest

on the 2nd we got eggstra work and (99% sure) splatfest theme announced on Twitter, a week later on February 9-10 is sneak peek and a 40 minute concert, another week later and we get splatfest main event and a season trailer, 3 days after that while we're still getting kits and info AN ENTIRE CAMPAIGN DROPS and then NEXT WEEK fresh season and big run

My favorite part of this is that right after this clip in the Nintendo Direct, they state that this DLC is made to be replayable over and over! The once-and-done format is definitely one of the downsides of Splatoon single-player I’ve found, so I’m excited to see how they implement that in this expansion pack!

Dedf1sh (or Acht, whatever you wanna call her.) looks exactly as they do on the Dedf1sh Album Cover Thingy, it took my brain a while to realize it was a 3D Model, that's how good it was!
Remember how in the files it talked about something about the octo whirl
That last thing in the trailer the spinning thing might be the octowhirl and on the boss in the last thing their are signs for the torpedo so maybe you throw the torpedo and it shows its weak spot then you shoot it and it damages it
So maybe it will go faster and faster so it's hard to hit it maybe their will be a palet for slowing time and it will be easier to hit it 1:41
This it, this Splatoon at its absolute peak. The change of gameplay in this dlc is GROUNDBREAKING. Im just stunned, this franchise has made it so incredibly far. And hey, maybe they can go to higher.

The DLC Campaigns have always been alot darker then the Main Games Campaigns comparing 2's Hero Mode to Octo Expansion is, and 3's Hero Mode to this

I didn't get to see this until this morning and it is AMAZING! The way they incorporated Acht was cool and the gameplay and the cutscenes had a really neat atmosphere. I wonder what the enemies in this dlc are and how they came to be. It all makes me excited for the lore and I can't wait to play through it!

@@Slushii24 Wait, there were several Hero weapons in Splatoon 1? I thought it was just the Hero Shot.
@@SaltyToad00 The Inkling Girl and Boy amiibos had challenges where you used the Hero Roller or Hero Charger depending on which amiibo it was. Beating all of their challenges rewarded you with a blueprint to earn a replica of those weapons. The Squid Amiibo functioned similarly but with timed Kraken challenges or limited ink challenges, and beating all of them rewarded you with the Hero Shot Replica.
I'm sure they'll let us have a replica of them after we beat the story or get to a certain point. They did that with the hero weapons in the main campaigns of all three games I think, and Octo Expansion gave you the Octo Shot. They'll probably let us have the Dualies too

i am unbelievably excited for this dlc, i don’t think i’ve ever been more excited for a game ever. i absolutely love the aesthetics of this dlc, and i have a feeling i’ll just immediately fall in love with dedf1sh, aka acht’s, character in this dlc. this is also giving me massive portal vibes, especially with that last shot of that spiral type thing coming from the ceiling.
Watching the trailer, got us, Splatoon fans, hyped for Side Order! Acht, huh? Dedf1sh’s real name is a different word language for “Eight”.
And we are playing as Agent Eight again…. And the theme is clones this time around. Interesting indeed

A very common genre
Usually you start at the first level with 0 weapons and abilities and as you go foward, you unlock more and more weapons and abilites. If you die you have to start at the bottom again.
Most roguelikes are randomized to keep things fresh each run.
Am I the only one that noticed that at 1:14 instead of the surrounding of agent’s eight suction cup is a different colour to her actual ink colour?

It's too early to know for sure, but Marina may be the villain and/or final boss in Side Order. Here's why:
-She's only seen once in the first trailer (the image shows her glitching)
-She's the one singing in that trailer's music
-She was the leader of Team Order in the Final Fest
-The creatures Eight fights look like a mix of Octarian Tech and TarTar's goo (Marina was an engineer for Octavio's army, and later built the shifty stations for Splatoon 2's splatfests)
-The huge machine at the end of this trailer could be something Marina created
That's just my guess, though...
i mean cans with images of her face appeared in the trailer a few times so i guess that sorta counts as being in this trailer
As a guy who liked Team Order in Final Fest of Splatoon 2, this Side Order truly does describe Pearl's chaos after she won 2's final Splatfest. This looks insanely cool and love the new enemy designs. Octolings, just face it, they have the cooler deeper stories. Agent 8, get ready for me to take on Pearl's secret chaos, because we making it out of Inkopolis Plaza with this one.
This gives off portal vibes so much. This doesn’t even look like splatoon at all. This DLC is going to be INSANE.
Would've been great to get an actual release date, but at least those that wanted Order to win the Final Fest are technically getting their wish!
This is probably the best way to do this for Splatoon onward. The winning team of the final splatfest determines the theme of the next game while the losing team gets to be the basis for the DLC story.

@@CindyHelms That said, if Nintendo does use this formula onward, does that mean the theoretical Splatoon 4 will get two DLC stories? I feel like in future titles, they should stick with the two-party set, otherwise things just get complicated. Personal nitpick of mine, the tricolor battle should have just been three teams of four in a unique stage duking it out.

I can’t wait for this to come out, Octo Expansion is one of my favorite experiences in gaming as a whole. And seeing Eight, Pearl, and Marina back gives me hope that this will be a great follow up to Octo Expansion. Also seeing Deadf1sh/Acht is really cool since she’s been relegated to the album covers which haven’t been officially translated to English yet. I hope we will actually touch on the story implications of Sanitization, and the fall of Kamabo Co.
I’m really hyped for the story, the animations and little bit of story we’ve seen so far really looks like a step up when compared to Octo Expansion. Seeing as in Octo Expansion the story was mostly relegated to chat messages until around the end of the game where it became the center focus. For most of the DLC it wasn’t even really expanded upon, we got a lot of character interactions, some hints of character backstories and the meeting/formation of Off the Hook. But beyond that the story of the expansion, one of the main draws, was almost entirely relegated to external media, and what little was there at the end was changed drastically with the English localization to the point where certain characters and motivations were almost unrecognizable. Same thing happened to a slightly lesser extent with the story of Splatoon 3 but it still got the general idea across.
And in regards to the story, if you pay close attention to the end of the trailer, you can hear the same sounds that were in Splatoon 1’s story mode before you fought a boss. I hope we can get some more information on that because it’s both creepy and interesting, and considering we’re going back to the Plaza we should be nearby Octo Canyon/Valley which is where the sounds were heard. Speaking of the Plaza, it looks so different after the Final Fest, it wouldn’t surprise me if we’re somehow in someone’s mind and are traveling through memories. Or maybe considering the presence of Acht, we could be going through the Sanitized ink and as such we’re seeing things that aren’t real.
The gameplay looks like a departure from the normal loop, with that heavily expanded upgrade system, to the new movement abilities like gliding with Pearl’s machine, and the fact that we get to see damage numbers. This indicates to me that it’s going to be a tougher challenge this time, and that we’re going to be starting out really weak to build ourselves up. Considering that Shinya Takahashi said the goal is to make it endlessly replayable, I don’t doubt that it will have rouge-like elements to it. I hope that doesn’t mean the levels will be procedurally generated, and instead that they will be something you can play in whatever order you want, something similar to Return of the Mamalians or Octo Expansion.
Another problem I would like them to address is challenge and reward, Octo Expansion has a lot of good challenging levels, but there isn’t really much of an incentive to take the challenge, you don’t get anything of real value for completing the harder levels in the hardest way. It’s a problem that carried over to Splatoon 3’s Hero Mode, one that with the way the team handles game design, I don’t know if they have any way to solve. But if this is a rouge-like, the problem might solve itself, if by completing harder challenges you get better/stronger rewards it would make it worth it to do. I can only hope the game will be challenging and worthwhile.
How does everyone else feel about it? Do you have any solutions? Or anything to add in regards to the story, and the implications of the audio they used? What about thoughts on finally seeing Deadf1sh in game? That got me really excited seeing as they’re taking more elements from external media and aren’t ignoring them in favor of something new. I also can’t help but wonder how this ties into the “Order” side of the Finalfest, and I feel like this new Spire of Order is in someway connected to the Shifty Stations from Splatoon 2’s Splatfests, considering how it looks inside, and it’s connection to Marina.

It’s so cool to see Agent 8 being officially confirmed as the playable character, this story seems to call back to sanitization. I can’t wait to play and explore this mysterious world it looks so good! Really excited!

I'm a big splatoon fan, and have been since splat 1. I'm genuinely excited for this.
This looks absolutely stunning its giving me animus vibes I cant wait to to play it and omg the cutscene animations look so good I can definitely see myself looking back at this in a few years

The fact that Dedf1sh is going to be a character in this, is genuinely so amazing to see. She's actually been a very important part of the Octo Expansion lore, and I'm so excited to see where her story goes, as i was always intrigued by her.

My bets are that it's in some container, while her brain is inside the Droid. Meaning we have to save both pearl and marina perhaps.
It might be infinite floor mode because you can see the "highest floor" here 1:15 or maybe after finishing the story
It also has upgrades for pearl and the agent 8
What actually creeps me out about the dlc is the music. In the hero modes, it was action packed, and octo expansion was the same. This music is.....creepy. It's ambient, oddly soothing, and just glitchy enough to make my skin crawl. The enemies looks super weird too. Everything feels off-putting in the best possible way.
