Question - I've been a earthmover enthusiast since I was a little boy. I used to go sit and just watch them grading housing developments near where I grew up. I saw some stuff then that you never see now, and I now know was really unusual. One thing that comes to mind was this compactor machine - it had the cab of a scraper, hydraulic steering like a scraper, but where the frame piece that would normally connect to the bowl would be, it continued back and down towards the ground and ended at an axle. On either side of the axle was a big, spiked dirt compactor wheel (one on either side). Underneath that central frame piece that arced down there was mounted a blade with a hydraulic ram that could raise and lower the blade. The only powered wheels were the two front pneumatic tires that were part of the scraper cab section. The machine would work with the scraper crews the way a compactor does now. I don't know if the machine was some kind of Frankenstein hybrid or what. I want to say I saw more than one of them back in the day, but not many, and not in many years. (You'd also see bulldozers with the big towed single-axle compactor attachments that are still in use today.) I was a little kid and didn't know any better (I can't remember a manufacturer name), but I've never seen one of those strange compactor units again. Have you ever seen or heard of one?

Looks like a fine machine with many years of good service . Could use a service to check for contamination and wear. perhaps some cab , seat ,a good cleaning. To me the Best part NO Pollution control CRAP , that is WORSE then USLESS. Thank You

Worked on a 966A way back in the day. Was a sweet smooth running loader, could balance a quarter on edge while the engine was running.

Well it started on the key first crank, brakes are good, steering appears positive and the articulation works smoothly, I reckon the old gal is a good machine thats been serviced all of its life and looked after. With a few small fixes like the seat and maybe a splash of paint around the house its good to go and for a decent profit too I'll wager!

Squirt some yeller paint on er, then raise price. For a 60 yr old machine that runs pretty sweet!

You should do a build with all the parts you have in the yard! Something crazy and big!! Something that does out of the ordinary things! Just an idea 🤷‍♂️

Did that yard used to be for the Railroad because I saw Railroad tracks in the ground when you backed up the loader at the wash bay

“Pull the black knob,”. Did you hear me screaming at you? Your channel is so much fun to ride along with you, but you need a YT camera person to assist you. Makes for editing, but can generate a smother transition for us lazy viewers! Keep the big yellow iron content coming!

Why not power wash the engine compartment while you're looking for leaks ?
