For impact don’t shoot rainbows in Black and White......but like the classic quote from Pot Black.......For those of you viewing on a B&W TV, The Pink is behind the Red 😂
In today’s digital world, the camera manufacturers are chasing and selling more and more pixels, just to get back to the quality of film. Thank you Marcus.
Number one photography videos on CZcams.
Watching this from Florida; the views and the shots, literally, took my breath away
I notice that Ruth missed the episode where Marcus showed how to put up a tripod 😃😃
Haha,, I noticed that too! he didnt factor in small female hands. I tried to turn them as advised and ended up nearly chucking the tripod over the cliff! ;-)
She also had difficulty with the pistol grip ball-head
Definitely not possible to use Marcus's technique with my hands! I was very aware how long it was taking but I wasn't in a hurry 😄.
The knowledge that we got in these videos is priceless.
Glad it was useful, Miguel.
Simply a video jam-packed with to-the-point information. Thanks!
Thanks for watching. More to come soon!
Oh my those lakes are beautiful....
So happy to see Chris! I hope he will appear regularly
Indeed!
Great episode - again. Always informative. Love the mermaid pose at the beginning Ruth 😂
I really enjoyed the video as usual everyone.
The image's of the rainbow's were absolutely stunning.
It was nice to see Chris on the show with Ruth.
It would be nice to see him again at some time.
Ruth you captured really nice image's with your time with Chris.
I take my hat off to Marcus for the time it takes to get the image of the oven, which turned out superb.
Catch you on the next show everyone.
Awesome episode guys, nothing more to say !!!! Best photography show on CZcams by a long way !!
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the superb explanations, photos and graphics for rainbow photography.
Ruth looking very beautiful in this weeks episode... lovely hair style... not sure about the guys though lol 😆
The guys purposely don’t try so that Ruth automatically looks better!
I love rainbows and have seen plenty this past summer in England! 1st time i know that double rainbow is invested 😂🌈
Thanks for watching Rashid
Congrats on your choice of photographer this week. Chris is a fantastic shooter.
We asked many other Lake District photographers first, but none were available, so Chris got the gig!
another great show! i love the bloopers at the end keep up the great work, thank you
Thanks for watching, Joe.
Lovely show and very informative. I'd never have thought of using a polarizer for shooting rainbows, in fact I'd have thought that it would obliterate it. I'll have to give it a go!
Glad it was useful, Mark. Good luck!
Great episode, so good to see Chris sale out and about.
Unbeatable show guys. Nice shots Ruth of a much loved location of mine, hope some finish up on your wall. The rainbow bit from Marcus was so interesting and I certainly learned from it, just a pity he did not tell us how to get the pot of gold at the end! Really love the large format stuff from him - thankyou Marcus.
Thanks as always for watching John
Fantastic as ever
The photograph of the oven was superb and very fitting too. I also learned a lot about rainbow's! Thanks 👍🙂
Glad you enjoyed it, Paul!
Love the contact print of the old oven. It really captures the atmosphere.
Thanks for watching
Another great show, and even better to see one of my favourite YT presenters as a guest. You couldn't have picked anyone better for this feature.
Pretty amazing how you always come up with fresh ideas and a brillant realization. Will try out a polaziser on the next rainbow, thanks for the hint.
Great to see you Chris, and a super little feature about your part of the world 😀
I always like the out takes!!
Thanks Doug.
Great blog as usual thanks. Also nice to see Chris Sale on CZcams again.
He only comes out when he’s paid handsomely!
@@PhotographyOnline 😄
Excellent as always. Makes me want to make an impromptu visit to the Lakes. A much loved and photographed location for me down the years, but not these particular subjects and viewpoints. Inspiring!
Superb. Keep the anologue coming, very interested in the film photography video guides.
Cheers Graham
Nice episode, particularly liked the Lake District session. Very informative and some great locations.
Brilliant show again. Marcus right on form. Love the old oven shots and hope you can show us more of this sort of thing, maybe digital this time.
Thanks Chris. Shooting the oven digitally would be far easier as you wouldn’t need to meter - just use the histogram. But everything else would be the same. Glad you enjoyed the show.
Loved the episode again! Beautiful locations in the lake district and also learned a lot about rainbows!
Thanks for watching Markus
Still a great show. You guys have never run out of steam. Some great subjects again today.
Thanks David
Another great show. A couple of very interesting segments from Marcus, a lot wiser about rainbows now. Also well done was a quick look around the Lake District with Ruth guided by Chris. Thank you team.
Cheers John
I love the photo of the oven..it definitley gave it an "old time" look. The rainbow tutorial was great, ill have to try the polarizer next time.....thanks for the great tutorials and the "bloopers"...
Thanks so much, Tye.
Amazing 👍
Thanks so very much for another informative and entertaining episode!
You’re welcome Jon. Thanks for watching as always.
Great show as always. Enjoyed the info on Rainbows!
Cheers James. Thanks for watching
Loved this episode
Thanks Irene
Love the use of printing out with the Calotype, Marcus! Could you share more or your process/method? My guess is Sutton, but I'm just beginning to explore this space. Thanks!
Don't shoot rainbows in black and white 😃😃😃😃..................I knew I am doing something wrong. Great advice. Thank you
Cheers Hans
Hi guys: Great video. Sorry, I haven't been around too much lately. Enjoying the warm Canadian summers but now as we enter into the fall and winter season everything will change. I really liked the session that you filmed with Chris. Ruth, you captured some wonderful images. Well done! Cheers, Keith
Thanks for watching Keith. Hope you are enjoying the Canadian winter.
Fantastic preparation for my up & coming trip to the Lake District. As always, compelling viewing with very helpful production & presentation.
Cheers, Alan. Have fun in the Lakes.
@@PhotographyOnline I had a wonderful time ! After a mammoth walk & search I found the tree photographed in your program. An amazing experience, inspired by your program.
Brilliant Show all.
Cheers Craig
Hello again from S Florida
Nice! & good use of What3words too..! 👍
Thanks very much.
Great show!
Thanks for watching
If it's "rainbow weather" where I live, there is always a bright double rainbow right behind my house. I usually catch it on my phone, but I'll have to grab my real camera next time.
Loving Analogue Insights, Please don’t replace it :)
Cheers. Don’t worry, film is here to stay!
Thanks for the battery pack, much appreciated win.
Excellent - enjoy.
Good stuff! I invite you to photograph the desert southwest of the USA, which I am pretty good. Cheers!
Hello from Texas! New subscriber here.
Welcome to the channel!
@@PhotographyOnline Thank you!
Good to see Chris Sale pop up here. I've been missing his authoritative style on CZcams.
An article I'd like to see is how you approach taking shots at one of those "enchanted forest" events, where they put on light displays in among the trees. I visited the one at Pitlochry last week with my camera, and shot in manual mode, f6.3, 1/100", Auto ISO. The shots are okay, but I might use a prime next time and open it right up (I'm planning on going to the Beecraigs one at Christmas). I'd be interested to see how you guys approach it (including choosing compositions in the dark).
Hi Dougie. Thanks for the suggestion. We’ll see what we can do.
Far Out!
I loved the show very much as always. I have one question: what is the name of the app that Marcus is using with the oven?
Abandoned homes are great to shoot. Too bad most folks don't repesct them and trash them.
Be aware, when entering old buildings, unstable structure, floors especially, asbestos can be a hazard, AGA Stoves had asbestos seals around the doors and asbestos insulation internally to the range, paint in old buildings such as you visited may contain lead, green paint and green wallpapers may contain arsenic
Would like for Marcus to talk about where he focused and how he determined F45 aperture on the stove image. Did he use an app?
Hi Steve. I focused on the oven, as that’s the only part I wanted to be pin sharp. I then just chose f/45 from experience. As the print was only ever going to be 8x10, I knew dof wasn’t going to be a major issue. I wouldn’t use an app for dof as the app doesn’t know your reproduction ratio, which is the most important aspect when it comes to dof. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Hi Mate Marcus, where do you buy this tripod king joy A86, also I like the pistol grip head, or if you can recommend other ones. Can you recommend a website? I live in CA, Best Regards Daniel
Hi Daniel. The only place we know of where you can get the A86 is from our shop. There will be other places but none that I know of. We send quite a few tripods to the USA because people struggle to find them there. We also have a few used Manfrotto 322RC2 heads for £100 but these are not advertised on the shop. If you would like to order, please enquire through Mc2Photography.com. Many thanks.
0:25 Little Mermaid spotted.
Thought that to prjw👍🤣
Love this show! Can anyone recommend a good tripod for someone with a dodgy back who struggles to carry heavy weights? I presently use a Manfrotto travel tripod but it is very unstable and takes ages to assemble.
Hi Glyn. Look at the Kingjoy C83 tripod. It’s a solid travel tripod which is compact but is easy to set up and will offer good stability in most conditions. They are available from our website shop.
@@PhotographyOnline Thanks - as a regular viewer I’d seen you recommend the brand but wasn’t sure which offered the best compromise between stability and lightness. 👍
whar tripod being used when met up with chris in the lakes
At 30:42 I saw the post it note and became worried. Oh no not again!
Don’t worry - he won’t make the same mistake twice!
What is that on the tripod that says friction on it? I've never seen something like that before
If you mean the tripod head - it’s a Manfrotto 322RC2
@@PhotographyOnline Thank you 💛
What's that app called? I've always wanted an app to reproduce the focal length of my lenses.
It’s simply called Viewfinder. It’s only available for IPhone
Lies!!! rainbows come out when thor is visiting 😜
Good show as usual, although I have to say that Chris drove me a little mad. I have no doubt that he is a great photographer, but I see photography as a creative pursuit, and that means that it should be different for every photographer. He had lots of good information to share, but I wish he'd been just a little less prescriptive, a little less like, "this is the way to take this photo." Otherwise, a beautiful location, and lots of possibilities for a variety of views, and viewpoints.
Hi Christopher. We asked Chris to take us to some of his favourite locations and show us how he shoots them. That’s exactly what he did. Obviously if you went to the same locations you would put your own spin on them, as would others. It was really just meant as providing info about some locations to explore in the Lakes but we included a bit of photo advice in for good measure. Hope it was helpful and thanks for watching.
@@PhotographyOnline Oh, I enjoyed it, and I hope my comment didn't come across as unduly critical. Chris obviously knows his stuff, and the resultant images were gorgeous! My comment was meant more as a constructive critique on approach. There is just so much beauty in the world, and definitely no "right way" of interpreting nature. I will check out the Chris Sale You Tube channel as well. All that said, I thoroughly enjoyed the "Old Oven" feature lead by Marcus. His attention to detail, and his suggestions on dealing with the technicalities of the hobby are always appreciated. Yes, all in all, a good show!
