Great video. This is something I already knew about but hadn't really considered using before. After seeing it on your livestreams I will definitely start doing this on future imaging sessions. As well as having something to look at, I think it gives you an idea of how the final image is going to look and also helps identify possible issues without having to wait until the session is over.

Nice one Luke I don't use sharpcap myself but deep sky stacker has a live stack option to but I've never managed to get it to work & the only tutorial I've found is in Spanish lol.

Nice video Luke! I've been playing with the same thing myself. If I remember correctly, because I own a license as well, the unlicensed version does have live stacking, but they watermark the image as it's stacking.

Thanks! Discovered this feature not that long ago, I find it great as I much prefer to use NINA for capturing an object. I believe that Siril has a similar live stacking feature (in beta). I haven't tried it yet, but it may be something to test when it's ready. :)
That's awesome to hear Serra! It's interesting to hear Siril is working on something similar, I had no idea!! - it'll be cool to see where that goes, but SharpCap's live-stacking is just so smooth that it'll be hard to beat I reckon! :-D

I use this when capturing with my asiair mini.
Asiair has its own live stacking feature, but it is pretty much limited compared to Sharpcap (no brightness, fwhm filter, no enhancments…)
Like you said I select the network location where asiair stores files (usually autorun or plan). With the mini though, there are some problems I run across.
When asiair stores the files, they appear on the network drive and Sharpcap reads and stacks them.
However, I noticed (at least with the mini) that asiair seems to be doing something to the files after it writes them, what results in Sharpcap displaying some weird artefacts when live stacking.
I reached out to the Sharpcap forum about this issue and Robin (Sharpcap developer) implemented a configurable delay for how long Sharpcap waits till it grabs the next file.
The feature is implemented in Sharpcap 4.1 beta and by setting a delay for 20 seconds resolves the issue for me.
Just wanted to point that out here, for the ones that use Folder monitor camera feature with the asiair mini.

Hello, i have used sharpcap for sun and moon video capture many times but now starting to learn to live stack galaxys, nebula's, i can set the exposure
Length but not sure on sub number of times x 50, x 250, ect like i normally did with the DSLR and a star adventure tracker. Dont see a selection for it or
Do i just stop recording when i want
Or us ther a selection of how many minutes or hrs i can set it for?
...and i am using an astronomy camera

Hey mate! You can just allow it to live stack as long as you'd like, alternatively you can tell it to stop, save and restart the stack every X minutes 👍

I did this and SharpCap says there are 0 frames in the folder. It sees nothing there. I've selected the folder and "All Images in Selected Folder" as well as navigated to inside the folder and "All .fits Files". Neither works. I've had so many little problems like this with SharpCap that if it didn't do such a nice job polar aliment I'd drop my subscription in a heartbeat. Not to mention ..... a subscription service! Really?!
ETA: WTF SharpCap. I had to expand the "Camera Control Panel" pane in the upper right to get it to load anything. Then it just magically refreshed itself and stuff appeared. The only reason I thought to do this was when doing a polar alignment the camera always defaults to some random default setting. Not the one I have set up and saved for that camera. So I have to load the settings or manually redo it. But when done, nothing changes! You then have to go and change some other setting to get it to "see" what you've done. So stupid.
