My reaction to hearing this for the first time: "Um, excuse me, sir?!? Where did that come from?!?!" And I thought the original version was mind-blowing!
Vocally Scott has never sounded better.

Phenomenal performance, incredibly beautiful. This deserves a Grammy nomination at the very least. It's lyrics are every bit as good as "I Will Always Love You" and others.
The choir is SoCal Vocals - the a capella group from USC. Same college and same group that Scott was part of when he formed PTX. (and where he met Ben Bram).
So no - Mitch isn't there.
I love this. I really really liked the original but this is my favorite version. It's perfection.

Thank you for reacting to Scott's Choir Version of "Mars". The person that you spoke of is Mark for Scott. Scott wrote an amazingly heartfelt message on his Instagram about what Mark brings to his life. I love all three versions of "Mars". No, Mitch is not part of the choir.

Scott has matured in his vocal by leaps and bounds since they started Evergreen. This is just so good.

I think he did a guest appearance with another group, I think 3 others and they sang hallelujah (their version, not PTX) and they all just did what Scott did and it was not fully planned out and it was overwhelming and amazing. I’m sure that inspired him. Scott was just on Meghan Trainor’s podcast “working on it” filmed months ago, but released today. It was so interesting and informative about how all of this and the songs on their albums came to be.
