Prices start from just under £20,000 (around £21k for the car as tested including £600 for the metallic paint). Is this fourth generation Yaris the best-looking version yet? Have the sleeker and sportier looks affected its practicality? How is it to drive? Find out in my full video review.

Cant beat a Toyota! Proper tanks... i just had my 16yr old Auris written off by another driver not paying attention, prior to the accident it was running like a champ! Gave me no problems over the 16 years! Looking to replace it with this Yaris, so thank you for your review keep up the hard work!...side note, cars are SOO expensive now! 😂
No shouty commentary, no cock-eyed camera angles, no banging music, seemingly, quite a radical idea!
I loved your review and thank you for it. I've bought a new Yaris which will be delivered next week. Its the first brand new car that I've ever owned. I picked the Yaris because of the mileage, tax benefits and the warranty for eveything about the car seems to be "for the life of the car". I expect the car to last longer than me so I think its a no-brainer.
Thank you so much for your very kind comment. It's greatly appreciated. Do share! Enjoy the car - I'm sure it you'll love it!
Currently driving a 2005 Yaris with 190,000 miles on the clock...looking to upgrade to the new Yaris in the hope it'll last just as long!
Great review! I was so impressed with my Mum's Hybrid Icon, I got the new Design and was blown away with it! Off for drive! Cheers.
Great to hear! Thanks so much for the kind comment!
I have a seven year old Yaris Hybrid and despite all the so called experts telling me how boring it is, me and the wife love it! It never does less than 50mpg and is fast enough to overtake or tear down back roads, good review, keep up the good work!.
Thanks so much! Yup, it's a brilliant little car.
Very good review, well articulated. Thank you!
Thank you very much, very good review. Loved the informative content. Diana x
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for a decent review. Well done. Your telling style is wonderful. congratulations . You are the best in your field. Very noble and has a character. Such a gentleman.

@@melikaltunbas7291 love Turkey as well. As much as i've seen of it at least ✌️✌️
I currently have my 2024 Toyota Yaris HEV being made in the factory. I really look forward to when it arrives at the dealership and I get to collect it. This review told me everything I need to know especially any additional info.
Enjoyed this review. Keep' em coming
Thank you!! 🙏🏽☺️
A great review brilliantly produced. You have a superb natural likeable manner. Ive just purchased the 'launch edition' and I can confirm that the new revised cvt 'gear box' is brilliant. Traded in my Q5 to down size as just me and the missus now. The CVT box is far superior to the VA Group 7 speed auto in that you are always in the right revs for all situations. Great little car and fun to drive.
So kind of you. Thanks for the great feedback! Glad to hear you’re loving the new Yaris. All the best!
@@BrownCarGuy Look this is like an ad for women. How about saying more about f ex pluses and minuses of the hybrid system ? How to switch etc etc
Enjoyed this review, thanks.
Thanks for the great feedback! 🙏🏽☺️
Thank you for your thoughtful 'reply'.
Beautiful review my friend. I really like the exterior style of this 2020 Yaris Hybrid. It is snappy but quiet, has a nice interior and is spacious and has excellent battery range. Can't wait to see your test of the sporty Yaris model. Congratulations, bye. 😃👍👍
agree , great black interior
Yeah I can’t wait to try the GR too!! LOL ☺️
@@BrownCarGuy great 😃👍
Really good review. I like your style.
Thank you!
Have just bought the same car and colour 6 months old pleased with it apart from having trouble getting android auto installed
I test drove the same model and colour. You describe everything so accurately. Anyway I ordered one. It’s a brilliant little car. There’s a 4 month waiting list, so I keep coming back here for my fix. Thank you.
Congrats enjoy! And keep coming back! 🙏🏽🤣
@@BrownCarGuy thanks for replying. Earliest delivery date is 31st October. I’m 56 for goodness sake and I’m like a kid waiting for Christmas.
@@LesterH25Hello , I ordered one two weeks ago, couldn’t get a black roof. The salesman said I should have it by December, do you think that’s possible? Cheers, Ged
@@ged3680 mine came on Friday 8 weeks early. So it’s possible.
It’s even better than I expected. Feels like a big car, solid, quiet and the fuel economy is as advertised.
@@LesterH25Does it get very noisy if you give it the beans on an on-ramp or while overtaking on a single lane carriageway?
Thanks Shazad . Good and useful review , which will help inform our next purchase . Either 2017 3rd Gen Models or 2020+ more recent models. Doesn't appear to be much change.
I’d suggest the new one if you can! All the best and thanks for leaving a comment!
If u have not got the car already, my advise is get the 4th gen model. I got the 3rd and while it's reliable and fuel efficient, it's noisy when accelerating hard. As well as leans into corners on the smaller tyres of base models.
This new gen 4 Yaris I heard is so much better than my MK3. More power, 114hp 2020-2021, 2022 is 116hp. Higher trim level on 2022 car has 17" wheels which I think is an inch too big but I like the 205 profile tyres and together with 37% stiffer chassis from the previous gen, it's make turning into corners so much better.
I'm looking to order a new one excel tech pack from carwow for £22.5k with 42m % finance PCP.
@@MattOn1010 Many thanks noted and useful . R
Great review!
Thanks so much!
They also make a very powerful Yaris GR. It offers a 261hp 1.6 litre three cylinder engine. 6-speed manual and does 0-62 in 5.3 seconds.
Em...em...this man makes me nervous!!
I'm awaiting for the new Yaris 1.5 active hybrid in 2023 in March . I drive a seat Ibiza now , but Im looking forward to getting the new beast
Great review. I will start to follow your channel.
Welcome aboard!
@@BrownCarGuy it's my pleasure :)
Fine review, but I really wanted to see the false boot floor that can be fitted in order to give a flatter load area.
no nonsense video - thanks.
Thanks!
It is actually quite a challenge to find a review based on the Design Grade, thanks!
Is there info or feedback on the sound system?
Will you be doing a review for the Renault Clio E-Tech Hybrid? Interested to know how it compares with both the Jazz and Yaris.
Will try, stay tuned!
It has a noisy side pillar whistle on the motorway. I checked several times if the window is closed, it was.
05:25 On your edition, there are editions of the Yaris with Keyless Go function.
Hi im completely new to automatic cars and worried how i can adjust to it. How does ig work without thr need for maintaining the bite etc can it cut out? Just trying to get my gead round how it works drive mode breaking and acceleration without gear changing, getting the bute etc?
Nice review. Just done 500 miles in brand new hire car. SUPERB vehicle (apart from driver door rattle). Mostly motorway. 60 mpg. In town EV only kicked in occasionally, defeated at every gradient! Would I buy one? Probably, as a second family car.
Great feedback - thanks!
I have this very model and its averaging 75 miles a gallon most of the time on normal mode and there id economy mode and a pwr mode it picks up quiet quick as well 0 to 30 is swift
Good review, better than I've seen by other so called Motoring journalists who go one and on about figures and to be honest, that turns me off as all I am interested in is the facts on how it performs, feels and its range capabilities. Yes good review.
So kind of you to say. Thanks!
Thank you for a great review, well done. How much is the road tax for this vehicle ?
Thank you glad you enjoyed it. Not sure about the road tax, I should imagine about £150 for the year, but double check that with your local dealer.
@@BrownCarGuy Many thanks for your reply.
From Turkey with love 🤗
Hi, It's me again. Out of the Jazz Hybrid and the Yaris Hybrid, which do you prefer ? I'm considering both.
They’re both brilliant! Yaris is better looking, Jazz more practical. If it was me personally I’d probably go Honda, but there’s little in it.
@@BrownCarGuy Thank you for replying again, I agree the Yaris is better looking but as you say, the Jazz is more practical and I'm leaning towards it. My last three cars have been non Honda but prior to that I had eight Hondas in a row.
Best wishes, Geoff.
@@calibreman go for it! All the best!
It's worth noting that both the new Jazz and Yaris hybrids have a new non-belt e-CVT transmission of a far superior design to those CVTs still using a belt. ;)
Hi, it's me yet again to let you know I've bought a Honda Jazz Hybrid in Premium Crystal Red Metallic. I had hoped to collect it yesterday but unfortunately I'm waiting for a retention (From DVLA) certificate which is needed to transfer my private number plate from my current car to the Jazz.
Geoff.
That's awesome. Many many congrats! Enjoy!
@@BrownCarGuy Thank you.
Hi, you didn't cover the over-revving thing when you stick your foot down, which I think is what people refer to as the rubber band effect. It was horrendous on old CVT auto cars, but was still there on the Toyota CH-R Hybrid that I hired recently: on sudden acceleration it would hold the revs high and then the car sort-of caught-up, meaning in-gear acceleration is best done gently. It's not a problem if the pick-up is immediate, but my worry when driving a hybrid is that (and I know they're not hot hatches) if I need to overtake a dawdler, I may not have the confidence to go round them for fear of my car's drivetrain messing around for a second-or-two.
To be frank, when there's an electric motor involved this shouldn't by rights be an issue because the motor can supply power instantly, so it may just be the sound that's disconcerting. But the Clio that I tried recently also did it to an extent, and that's supposed to have some kind-of F1 gearbox technology or whatever. BTW, although I've yet to drive the new Yaris my feeling is that the Clio will spend more time on the engine vs electric power when compared to the Yaris, which is to say that I reckon the Toyota will ultimately be cheaper to run. That's just a feeling though, based partly on my experience of running the CH-R for a week.
Great feedback. Thanks! Yeah it’s not as pronounced with this CVT, they’re definitely improving, although you do get it if you put your foot down hard. The actual acceleration is not so bad though.
Not sure if I missed it but did you mention what mpg you got?
I don't think I mentioned what I actually got, and I can't remember it now. But 69mpg is what is claimed. In any case keep in mind I tend to drive review cars a little harder than they would be normally, so my mpg might not reflect what others would get.
Have you done a video on the GR for 2020

@@BrownCarGuy the model before that one
I dont think the hybrid was sold in the U.S. No Yaris model is now sold here.
You remind me of amitabh bachan Bollywood actor.
LOL. Yes I’ve heard that before. Big fan!
@@BrownCarGuy some people say i look like Salman Khan from the 90s
0-100 ? have you tried it?
9.7 seconds according to the Manufacturer
And your fuel consumption was ?
I've just asked the same question???
at least wash the tires
From outset you put me off talking so irritatingly fast. Then we had a jazzed up pronmotional film clip which left me with a feeling of having been blasted into your crash‐bang‐wallop studio antics.
At that point I baled.
Plenty of other Yaris reviews out there. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
Bailed* plenty of crappy complaining but no helpful suggestions. You shouldn't have bothered.
