the production on their music videos go beyond just music but whole stories into their emotions they want shown and felt by whoever is listening.
This was BTS pre-dynamite.. another vibe including in the MV.. I think they may Comeback with that Idea now. I love this MV and I'm really happy that yoy guys finally watched the film version 💜

this MV is such a treat for ARMYs who are experts at deciphering the meanings behind every element. this is such a deep dive i can't even! the cinematography is next level & beyond top class as always with every BTS production 👏💜
Both ON music videos and the Black Swan MV were shot here in Southern California in 2020 before the pandemic took over. I remember liking that BTS was in my neck of the woods for about a month :) That’s when they attended (performed w/Lil NasX as a guest) at the Grammys, Performed Black Swan on the Late Late Show w/James Corden, did Carpool Karaoke, and then did other promo appearances in NY like Jimmy Fallon (performing at the Grand Central Station), MTV, Today Show(?), etc. By the time BTS flew home to their global press conference for MOTS: 7 album, COVID was serious so journalists were not to come in person… or was it just select few (I forget, it’s been awhile).
"ON" is BTS's best artistic Music video ever.
The explanation video made by DKDKTV is worth a look on this one, guys. It's *packed* with symbolism and biblical references!

They make the most beautiful cinematic MV. Definitely one of my favorites. Never get tired of watching this.
This is a whole ass movie like I actually was so shocked when I saw it. There’s so many biblical references and also lion king vibes mixed with maze runner I absolutely loved it
Mots 7 era got outshined by Covid. It was robbed really. The MVs that came out that year were Ah-mazing cinematic quality.

If you watch the video carefully, you will notice that there are actually a lot of bible references. Jin's dove is from the Bible, the dove is a sign of new life. RM with the animals and the wrecked ship represent Noah's arch. V laying on the ground in a crucifix pose while a little girl sits beside him is a representation of Christ on a cross while the people wept beside him (in this case the girl is said to represent Mary Magdalene who was also at Jesus' crucifixion and was the first woman to see him rise up from the dead, hence he lifts her blinds to show her the sign of "hope" aka the walls opening like the stone rolling away to see the new world)
The grass growing denotes God bringing back life to the earth after the flood and the people all gathering to enter into this new world is like Noah and his family who come back to the newly created earth. If you notice even JK's hand cuffs are like Christ's thorn crown. I am not entirely sure about J-hope Suga and Jimin's part in this video but if you take a look at the channel DKDKTV, they have a more in-depth explanation.
Also I m pretty sure the rock at the end is the one from Lion king. I guess they just love that film a lot cause if you see some of their videos, they sometimes warm up their Vocals by trying to sing that one song that we all try to sing but make up our own words too 😅

The dove is peace. The death of the bird represented the end of peace, but the dead dove was resurrected. At the end, seven doves flew by, one for each of the boys, indicating the return of peace. I don't know if you noticed, but during the dance break, each of the boys wore a shirt with metallic embellishments on it, implying that they were wearing armor. The dance during the dance break has always used fighting moves, indicating an actual battle. There are all kinds of references to the Bible and a couple of movies, Maze Runner and Lion King. Oh, and they used a real giraffe for the filming of the Noah's Ark scene. The Kinetic Manifesto film is nicknamed the dance version, since it mainly shows the choreo. This video is more BU story line inspired. There are several explanation theory videos, if your interested but, personally, I think that the most interesting one is the one by a priest, since he knows all of the Biblical references in the video. It's more of a reaction than an explanation, but the video still explains a lot of references. I'll put the link to that one in a reply to this comment, in case you're curious.

This is why I have a quandary when I tell people to watch On, which, oh heck, just watch both!! So cool both are. And the song is so good also.
Part of this mv was filmed at Vasquez Rocks Natural Area in California…the dam in the kinetic ON manifesto mv is in LA right near the freeway.

There are many biblical references in this video. From V’s position on the ground simulating Jesus on the cross, to RM in front of an “ark” surrounded by animals, to JungKook’s hands being tied by a cuff of thorns to mention a few. There are some explanation videos out there so you can check them out. When you watch it again, look out for those details.

Interesting question, "why has it taken so long to see that?" I think personally a majority of those who recommend from ARMY have pushed the Kinetic Manifesto over the music video deferring to the circus magnificence inherent to a performance over the complexities and nuances of an allegorical presentation of the Jungian concept of individuation. The music video is a complex digestion whereas the Kinetic Manifesto is comfort food. Temporally, the Kinetic Manifesto was released first which makes it seem more important to some. To me, BTS invested incredible artistry, resources, and expressive efforts into the mv creating both visual challenge and reward for the viewer as opposed to simply offering high level sensory candy. I personally wish Big Hit had elected to serve dinner before it put out dessert, but I guess they had teased ARMY with the idea of a darker album about to be released and wanted to demonstrate that the album packed much more than that. P.S., DKDKTV has a fairly thorough explanation both you and your viewers might enjoy.

For me, BTS at the White House is a "Bono-ish" moment, a foreign artist there to discuss an important issue with the leader of the land. (BTW, discussing issues at the UN also is reminiscent of the rare global credence lent to Bono's words.) It makes me proud, both for BTS and also for myself for being so invested in their expressions for such a period of time that my choice to get on the ride has yielded yet another special moment. Prejudice against Asians has been so much a part of the American story. If BTS albeit foreign can in any way influence things to promote inclusion for all in this country, I am all for it.

Hi guys...this is a theory about the meaning of this mv that I posted a while back on another post. I think it's showing their rise in fame. At the beginning the field is littered with bodies and banners. I think it's showing other Kpop trainees who never achieve their dreams. The banners are for the different companies that destroy their hopes and dreams. Up to when the gates open it's all about the haters and BTSs struggles to achieve their dream. A dove is not just a sign of peace it's also a sign of hope. At the beginning the dove with the arrow represents their hope being shot down by critics and haters. Jin is shown with other cages with dead doves at one point..7 if I count correct. When their dream is realised the 7 doves take flight leading through the gates to the top of the mountain. As you can see they are not alone at the gate...a rag tag mix of people are with them, I think representing the beginning of Army are behind them. Going up the mountain is the proof their dream is now reality...and they are heading for the top. My theory of Jung Kooks tied hands are that in most companies artists are not allowed artistic freedom. However he comes to a beautiful pool, (a new company) where he can lose those restrictions. The shell blowing signals a change, no longer tied to the old rules but free to choose their own way at Big Hit. I think the Fort where they have the dance off, is them seeing how they could have become with another company. They would be just shadows of themselves but they showed just who they had become and how strong they were. They basically blew everything up...creating a new style and a new way in the world of Kpop. For me the little girl represents the Army newbies to come, having their eyes opened to the world of BTS. Not sure if I make sense but thought I'd let you know what I thought it meant. 💜
