Twelve-year-old Chad, confined to a wheelchair, puts his personal misfortune and hardship aside as he becomes totally consumed with raising and training a special pigeon. As a result, Chad is freed from his personal fear of failure and he experiences a miracle.
Synopsis
The Pigeon That Worked a Miracle is an unusual adventure story about a young boy, Chad, and Pidge, his pet pigeon. More than an adventure, it’s an inspiring story of great personal challenge and determination. Chad and Pidge are united by a very special bond, each is challenged by a handicap. A spinal injury confines the boy to a wheelchair. The doctors know that Chad has healed physically, yet, remains unable to walk due to an emotional handicap-the fear of failure. Pidge, too, is handicapped. Rejected at birth by his mother, Pidge becomes weak and frail. Chad hand-raises the peeper, who grows into a strong and very competitive bird.
As Chad and Pidge work to reach their goals, they encounter many challenges, gaining strength and determination. It seems nothing can stop them. Faced with a life-or-death situation, Chad rises to the occasion. He discovers that his love, devotion and hard work have resulted in a miracle.

Watching "The Pigeon That Worked a Miracle" prompted me to become a pigeon keeper at 10 years old in my backyard aviary. My dad helped me rehabiltate that old aviary. Mine were not homing pigeons more like pets. What a great memory seeing this again after 60 years
This is a very good movie that I watched when I was a boy in 1972. It sparked my interest in pigeons and began my life-long hobby of pigeon racing.
I never knew pigeons were such fascinating birds until we rescued one. He visits us everyday since his recovery. Amazing.

A great classic from Disney when Disney was still wholesome and family oriented! I watched this film as a kid growing up in Poland decades ago... Just had a chance to watch here just now - thank you! Now we raise and race homing pigeons with my older sons in New York. They are amazing animals!

wow... I remembered watching this movie in 1981 on a movie film projector. now that I have homing pigeons this is one of my best movies. Best movie ever
I saw this the first time in late 1975 on "the Wonderful World of Disney. I was then a kid and I still had my birds...a loft of about twenty homers.. I looked for this movie for a very long time but was unsuccessful and mirabile dictu here it is now on CZcams, so I watched it again for the second time last night. Can't believe it's been 48 years. I got out of racing pigeons about a year later. I often think about those days and start missing my birds....oh well!

I have never forgotten this movie that i seen as a little boy. At that time i had one pet pigeon already. In fact i had told my wife about it many years ago and how i wanted to see it again. At the time of seeing this movie. We lived in Phoenix Arizona. On Saturdays i remember seeing two seperate groups of pigeons fly over the house. Coming in from west to east. Must of been 350 to 500 birds each time. I wondered if they were racing birds. Now i know. Loved the sound they made flying over the house. Been a pigeon man ever since.

In the UK in the 80's this was shown as the B-Movie/supporting feature before a full Disney movie. I can't remember which - it may have even been a re-issue of one of their classics. I was about 5, but I never forgot this film. I've looked several times over the years but never knew what it was called... Thanks for uploading it.

I read that with each pigeon racing, they are about 50% of the racing pigeons won't be able to make it home...
