Thanks for the reaction, man! Really happy to see the channel doing well! The Stupendium community are awesome and love supporting reactors to my work. :)
As for this track, the game takes place inside a computerised world and the character of Spamton is one of the optional bosses you can meet along the way. He is a being made up of all the spam emails and unwanted ad-ware within the computer and speaks in broken fragments of old adverts and nonsense. I tried to make my track reflect his character as best as possible by writing in half nonsense but also using it as a commentary on the cycle of toxic consumerism. The track was designed around the idea of being a sensory overload. It's a constant bombardment of muddled advertisements, just as the boss battle plays out in-game. Even the chorus is designed to be an annoyingly catchy marketing jingle.
The song's title, 'Ad Infinitum', is from the latin for 'to infinity' and is a reference to that endless cycle of consumerism but also a pun on 'infinite adverts'.
I always include an opening paragraph or two in the description that provides context on the song for people who may not have it. So that's there if you ever need it in future reactions. I generally try and make my songs approachable to anyone whether they know the source material or not but this is certainly one of my songs that requires the most context from the game. It has stumped many a reactor. :P

Paraphrasing Stupes here about this song:
They broke all conventional rules of music and song writing to create something that truly encapsulated what Spamton is. This song is meant to be a constant advertisement that only takes a pause to do something even crazier, all wrapped up in madness. Which is exactly what Spamton is and why hes such an amazing character.
So, while it isn't one of Stupes' most impressive songs as an actual piece of music, as a Spamton experience it is perfection.

  • @Spectralyzed

Quite an assault to the senses, eh? Yeah, this one is a LOT to take in, but as Stupes explained, Spamton is like a walking talking advertisement mixed with spam email and such. This one absolutely broke my brain when I reacted to it.
Congrats on the subs boost! I absolutely owe my sub count increase to Stupes as well, so enjoy the ride, you do great content, and Stupes' community is super supportive.

In this song alot of the lines are taken straight from the game.
"Woah! If it isn't a lightner!
Hey hey hey hey hey hey!
Looks like you're all alone on a late night?
All your friends abandoned you for the slime you are?
Sales gone down the drain? Drain?
Living in a goddamn garbage can?
    Hae-ahaa-hae-ahaa-eah!"
This is straight from the game.
"I used to be nothing but the email guy
Now I'm the "It burns! Ow! Stop! Stop! Help me! It burns!" guy"
From the game, he was an email program circa 1997 when millions of users signed up for free email accounts, then the spam came in.
"Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring
    You're kidding? It's for you"
Is a battle attack in the game.
The music track is the boss battle music from the game.
He is a email program, infected by spam. He wants the protagonist to get an upgrade for him as he was a person that was in the royal Court, but was kicked out. He is persuading you to brake his puppet strings as he feels controlled and can see that the protagonist is controlled by an unseen character too. But has ambition to be a BIG SHOT!.

Deltarune is a game set in what's essentially the internet made into a city, and Spamton is the personification of a late-90s spam mail folder. This explains a lot of the weird segues, as well as his tendency to end up in garbage cans (deleted mails), catch on fire (firewalls), and love of [moist delicious] cookies (tracking cookies).
Also, the attempted viral takeover of all reality to be replaced with his spam-a-riffic self.

Spamton is like an embodiment of a ton of spam. So much chaos with that ad style, which I think was well showcased in the vid. So it's fun to see how people react, but it's kinda a terrible first impression choice for a reaction since it is just so chaotic. Seen a few folks just stumped on this vid if it was their 1st stupendium experience.
If you want another track of basically another shady style of dealings. The song for red from animal crossing, rogues gallery, is basically a used cars salesman angle.

  • @SamiTheAnxiousBean
    @SamiTheAnxiousBean Před 11 měsíci +7

This is the song that requires... the most context
all ima tell you (since you should play deltarune its really fun!) Spamton is basically the PERSONAFICATION of spam emails, his character ingame straight up talks like this, his speeches keep being [FILLED IN] by commercial blurbs and stuff that is the equivalent of what he wants to say but not exact, its implied he used to be the same as the characters you see in a little jingle section, a normal type of advertisement but later on got currupted, he also constantly tries to sell you stuff and is a optional fight (as every deltarune chapter has a hidden boss) within the game
so naturally, a song about spamton would be the definition of sensory overload as he himself is like that
the rest of the game isnt as insane as he is, though the story is really good from the little we do have of it (with only 2 chapters being out atm)

Since Stupendium's songs keep getting better and better, watching them in reverse order will make it look like the quality is decreasing.
So it might be better to go back as far as The House Always Wins and move from there chronologically :)

"Shock Treatment" (not therapy), and I appreciate the comparison. That movie was a portrayal of television in the a very similar manner this song's character is a portrayal of internet-spam. This song is tackled by a lot of reactors and it's such a challenging piece, especially if you don't know the game. Don't burn out on Stupendium, but if you're making a list of songs of theirs to react to I'd recommend "A Little Heart" because the Disney references are both fun and universal. :)

Hey bro, you say we're supportive but in all honesty it's because you're a refreshing person to watch. I won't name any in particular for obvious reasons but there are a lot of people that react to this type of content and over dramatize it (Difference between over dramatizing and a slight dramatic reaction like the "I don't know if I should quit or try harder" for the humour/honest)
Honestly, keep up the awesome reaction. This may not be something that you'll continue covering forever (Stupes I mean) but from this break you have people like me that'll 90% likely stay subbed and look forward to see your content in the future!
To summarize, just keep being real bro, you're a fun guy to watch because you have fun with it, never try to be fake or over react, getting overwelmed by Stupes is fine and it's something most of us would probably find fun and enjoyable to watch (like you commenting or the fact you're waiting for Stupes to explode right at the start of the video)

Stupes said pretty much what I was going to say, but I'll also add this.
Sometimes their songs will be about the game itself, but most of the time they try to find something beyond the game to comment about using the song. So instead of writing about the events in the game, they use the game to write about something else.
REST EMPLOYED (another good one) is less about the game itself, but uses the game to make such comments like "Everything living has to die" or "Every life has a form to fill"

Nice reaction! If you enjoyed undertale then I would highly recommend checking out deltarune too ( and Toby Fox's- the creator's work in general. He is a very talented composer and developer ). Basically it's a more modern version of that game which covers a bit different topics and in my opinion has a higher potential to be liked by newcommers etc. The game is devided into chapters, 2/7 are already out and they are completly free! ( the creator is still working on the next ones ) I don't want to explain everything, all you need to know for now is that each chapter takes place in a different place where you meet new characters, learn about these worlds and the overall story. The game contains a lot of cool secrets like secret bosses ( there's probably going to be 1 for each chapter )
Other people already explained what spamton's character is so I'm just gonna add some of his backstory and other info ( you can skip reading if you want to experience the game on your own ). Spamton was once just a regular salesman but he wasn't succesful. One day he got a phone call from a mysterious figure who helped him become famous. Everything changed when the person he met suddenly disappeared. He lost his apartment, friends, started living in a dumpster and became absolutely insane. Additionally he always wanted to achieve freedom. It is speculated that this mysterious character told him he is just a videogame character meaning there's something controlling him. You also probably noticed that he speaks in broken sentences, uses brackets and has his catchphrases like "now's your chance to be a BIG SHOT!". He also has connections to the previous secret boss
