Jessica's story is great. This version is a bit odd. She tells it far batter. This narrator leaves out a lot of the details that make it personal/emotional.
And that ridiculous attempt to speak like a woman, that was incredibly cringe inducing.

this is more of a mission debrief, she told a story. odds are this side of the "story" is more accurate as well. she would have been panicking when all of this was happening. its just a normal day for the SEALs. And thats not to bring up the fact they are literally trained to remember every detail so that they can give a debriefing after the operation. and also were you there? probably not so how can you say this one is odd ad the one that came from the person hiding her face the whole time is more accurate? it was total darkness, she couldn't see anything. And this is the SEALs side so obviously there wont be a bunch of emotions in it. they do their jobs, not tell stories to make you cry

At first she didn't know her rescuers were Americans it took a few moments for that realization to sink in one interview she recounts after the SEALs identified themselves she keep saying, "You're Americans, I I don't understand you're Americans?"

I was getting ready to say that you need to watch the 60 Minutes interview of Jessica Buchanan, but see that you have already reacted to it about a year ago.
The Beesleys Jessica's version telling of her capture is much better than this one ,and would answer some of your questions you had on this one

The reason they did this was not primarily to rescue two hostages but to show what happens to Pirates and others who threaten American citizens.

you're not too familiar with how the US handles our citizens being taken hostage then. We've got a long track record of going to insane odds just to save people. This is in part why the US is one of if not the only nation to levy a tax on our citizens abroad. I do find it comical how a Canadian thinks they know what they're talking about here. Don't be jealous that our military would carpet bomb hell itself to get a citizen back where you guys would probably just call us to help.

I'm an American that's worked with everyone -- no one questions that the British SAS are perfectly on par with any group America has.
The British SAS do a lot of training with US special forces. So it makes sense they would be up there on skill too.

Pirates probably didn't hear the seals. It was likely more what they didn't hear. The approach of the assault team was noticed by wild life in the area and the critters and insects went quiet which was noticeable by the militiamen who were attuned to the enviroment

And some of this differed from her version. I can also say, he would not have told her 'were seal team 6', he likely just told her 'don't worry, we will take care of it', if he said anything
She was not just an American, she was a humanitarian helping kids.
The $100 million figure is a bit misleading. That is what was spent on the assets used. Those assets are reusable (minus the fuel and ammo expended).
A human life is priceless and the U.S. Government will stop at no cost to rescue a citizen.

You don’t see that in the US much she’s twice the size of him. That’s funny.

Navy Seals aren't to be fucked with. Their taught to ignore pain slow down their heartbeat so they can stay underwater for extended periods of time. They are badass.
I don't know what fantasy book you read that in but you might want to do some actual research.

I want to introduce a note of realism into this, so remember that the narrator said the Somalis were happy to stick it to the Americans and embarrass them [us] in front of the rest of the world when the cost of the mission was brought up, bc it was just as much about national prestige as it was to rescue a single American in deep trouble. It’s not cynicism driving that observation….its logic. It also happened the year Obama was running for re-election, and that can’t be entirely discounted, either.

The moon was right that night. It would light the sky. President Obama was told this would be the perfect night. I believe no lights were needed that night from the the rescue team. Amazing story.
Unlike the normal people, these men are trained for the situation I would like to say that they might be scared, but these men are not their ready to give their life for any American. These men are heroes whether they had or had not had to do missions like this. That’s why we’re so patriotic as Americans, so no I don’t think they were scared. I think they were doing their jobs and most of these men do not want to even be called heroes but to us Americans they are all heroes. God bless America and God bless the UK we are all human beings, and I wish we can all get along but unfortunately, this is the world that we live in. America, home and free and definitely land of the brave.

Fun fact: at 6:20 I turned on sub titles to try and understand. The subtitles didn't know either. When the video started the subtitles didn't miss a beat.

The US military can have substantial forces anywhere within 24 hours. Remember these great soliders have multiple teams ready 24/7/365. But the special teams you may not know/hear about for several years.

This is a great recruitment video, however, not completely accurate. The scene with the President and the cabinet was NOT from the Jessica Buchanan rescue but rather from the Osama Bin Laden capture. Still the video goes to show that we Americans care about each other in spite of our differences!!
