The cardinals this year remind me of the packers last year. I think they finish somewhere around 8-9 or 9-8 maybe 10-7 but they will definitely be a better team at the end of the season

I like the analysis and you talked about talent but you forgot the Cardinals play really hard, they had a lot of really close games last year that could’ve gone their way had Kyler been there. Their ceiling is 11 - 6 floor 9-8

13-4 Kyler Murray becomes a MVP candidate, and the Cardinals are going to approve that they are going to be better than they were last season with the entire offense and the roster that Jonathan Gannon has built, this team is going to compete for the NFC West with the San Francisco 49ers

  • @azirish10
    @azirish10 Před 2 měsíci +3

I appreciate you're just trying to give your objective opinion. But you're not appreciating what has transpired over the last year and a half. I believe last year was the most competitive 4-13 season I've ever seen. When you do a deeper dive on their 2023 season and what they've done since, I think you would have a much more favorable opinion of them.
First off, even mentioning another four-win season is ridiculous. That's not happening. I believe their floor is seven wins and the ceiling is eleven.
Here are just a few things to consider about their prospects this year. Going into last year they had just swapped out their entire front office (GM) and coaching staff. Their franchise QB had just torn his ACL in the last month of the season (against your Patriots) and morale was at an all-time low.
The GM purged the roster and focused on youth. Their 2023 week one starting QB wasn't even acquired until after the final preseason game.
Most Cards fans were anticipating a total calamity and the first pick in the draft.
It was still a bad outcome by most standards. But the way they played and how competitive they were, especially in the final stretch, provided a huge surge of confidence going forward.
They beat three playoff teams and the up-and-coming Falcons in Kyler's first game back. Their other wins included a resounding beatdown of the Cowboys along with solid wins at Pittsburg and Philadelphia on the road in December. Five of their losses were within one score, and two of those were against the Ravens and Texans.
If there is any such thing as a moral victory, last season encapsulated it. I’ve never seen a fanbase so enthused and optimistic after a four-win season.
I agree the defense is their biggest question mark. Last year they finished last or close to last in yards allowed per game, points per game, and rushing yards allowed per game. But they had a lot of injuries, including their starting MLB and "QB" of the defense in week eleven. They just added at least five new starters and much better depth through the draft and FA.
I'm hopeful, or at least cautiously optimistic, they will significantly improve. But I don't even think they need to be a top 10-15 D to vastly improve their win total this year. I think they will likely improve to somewhere in at least the late teens in total defense. That, paired with how the offense is trending, should account for at least four to seven more wins.
It's their offense that is going to put the league on notice. Keep in mind that Kyler didn't even play until week ten when they beat the Falcons. It was only eleven months (to the day) since he tore his ACL. He had no benefit of an offseason to practice the new system, and he still came out hot to put up very good numbers.
Before week ten, their offense ranked 28th and 26th in total points and yards per game, respectively. After Kyler came back, those numbers improved to 13th and 9th. They also happened to have the #1 rushing offense in those last eight games on their way to finishing the season as the fourth-ranked rushing attack.
Then there's Trey McBride bursting on the scene. He didn't even start until week seven when they released Zach Ertz. McBride finished as a top-ten TE in receptions and yards. He had 81 catches for 825 yards in eleven starts. And most of that happened in the last eight weeks with Murray at QB.
It’s worth repeating that Kyler did not have the benefit of a legitimate offseason and training camp to learn and acclimate to a brand-new coaching staff and system.
Imagine what it will look like when the whole unit has the benefit of last year’s experience and a full offseason to get into the nuances of the scheme and practice it together.
Oh, and if you think teams can scheme to shut down McBride or the running game, they also added this guy named Marvin Harrison Jr. on the outside to open things up in the middle even more.
Consider that with what will likely be another top-five running game that just added Trey Benson to the mix, the league better watch out.
I predict they will have a top-ten offense with another top-five running game. I think they will improve their 24th-ranked 19.4 PPG by at least five to seven points - they were top-thirteen (22.4 PPG) in the last eight weeks with Kyler.
That alone should get them to at least seven wins. There’s no way the defense will be worse, so seven wins feels like the basement for this season.
If the defense can shore up their biggest weaknesses, then the sky's the limit. If they can improve to at least a top-eighteen-ish total defense, then ten or eleven wins is a real possibility.
Final prediction for me, I think they take 3-4 wins in their division and 9-10 games on the season. They should be in the running for a wild card spot going into the final weeks.
    We shall see…

The defense is improved for sure have some dawgs at Secondary and added to the D line don’t forget both LJ colier and Carlos Watkins were solid starters at the D line and getting them both healthy again as they both got injured early last season plus adding Darius Robinson the guy is massive 💪 can’t wait for the season I’ll be attending a few games let’s go cardinals !!!!

  • @ajays9936
    @ajays9936 Před 2 měsíci +5

I think you gotta look at the stats when Kyler got back. The defense can look worse when the offense isn’t good, since they get no rest. A lot of 4th quarter collapses from a tired defense.
If you look at who we lost and who we added you would have to say the team is better since we ran way under adjusted salary cap (ignore dead money) our offense is pretty stacked adding MHJ as number 1 will make McBride and Mike Wilson look better. Maybe Zay Jones who we bought off the jags returns to form after an injured campaign last year and is able to produce nicely as the #4 target as opposed to a #2 target on the jags.
James Connor was a disgustingly good back last year probably cause we moved to an offense with Kyler under center instead of spread air raid and he can just slam one cut runs. I think he had an elite PFF rush grade. Like a nick chubb like rush grade. Trey benson should mean he is more fresh.
I think you gotta seriously consider a W for the cards if they play into anyone with a weak interior D line. Look at our rush grade when Kyler got back. Looked like a baby Greg Roman Lamar offense.
Hot take I think Rams are getting swept. Aaron Donald was critical to that interior. When he came off the field it was night and day. Not sure how they get pressure without him eating triple teams.
TLDR: Cardinals run game punishes anyone who can’t answer it. Maybe MHJ adds another wrinkle if they stack the box.

the analysis was good... however I think we are very solidly a .500 team this year 8-9 (whatever the hell that is) based on the fact we were so awful last year and went 3-5 after K1 came back. IF he stays healthy there have been enough improvements this year to get us enough pieces to make plays on Def allowing our Offence to make the plays it needs to make to win the game. BTW just so you know... we have been kicking seattle's ass in Seattle and sucking something awful at home vs them for the last decade.. may want to swap those home and away picks around :)

I think Asante Samuel can do it but he's a lot smaller, and Cam Hart is the next best guy for that job but obviously he's a rookie. I also worry about the Cardinals run defense against the greg roman led running game, as well as the secondary of the cardinals and their ability to contain Herbert. All true. But only three of those games were with Kyler playing under the new coaching staff. And that was coming off a torn ACL and no preseason to prepare. The Rams have had some mystical advantage over the Cards for most of the last few years. But I think a good portion of that can be attributed to Kingsbury and Keim holding the Cards back, along with Aaron Donald being a cyborg.
When Kyler is on and the team is clicking, that all changes. I was at SoFi in '21 when they smoked the Rams. And that was the year they won the SB. It can be done. I don't think we'll appreciate the loss of Donald until we see what they look like without him. He alone killed Kyler's confidence in several games. The Rams also lost their D-coordinator this offseason. Those two factors combined with what should be a top-ten offense with an elite rushing attack for the Cardinals, the division and the league will be put on notice this year. Barring major injuries, I think they'll take 3 or 4 W's in the division this year.

      @azirish10 Před 2 měsíci

Dominated is a stretch. Sure, the Bears were up 21-0 at halftime. But the Cardinals won the second half 16-3. The Bears only held on to win by one score. And Fields actually played well.
Murray was only six games back from a torn ACL. He was playing under a new coaching staff in a new offensive scheme. He didn't have the benefit of an offseason program or training camp to prepare. The fact that he was as competitive as he was is a remarkable feat.
For some reason, it was a particularly bad game for the Cards. They just didn't seem into it in the first half. Thankfully that didn't happen very much last year.
To be fair, if I were a Bears fan I would be very excited right now. This is the most optimistic I've been for them in years. Williams and Odunze may be remembered as the greatest pairing of 1st round picks for the same team in one draft, possibly ever.
You have every right to be confident. But I don't think you're appreciating how much progress the Cardinals have also made.
I won't say I expect the Cards to win, but it wouldn't be a shock. You also have to consider Williams is a rookie. I think he'll be good, but CJ Stroud type rookie years are very rare. Most rookies, even the great ones, usually have to take their lumps. I think the Bears will be good and it should be a good game when they meet.

@@kevinmckenna5414 Thanks for the correction. I took a cursory look at the game stats and must have misread it. I just remember the Cards looked flat in that game, but they did pick it up a little in the second half.
I think the Bears will be very good and I expect Williams to at least be solid his rookie year. But that's not the norm.
It is fair, and probably a good practice, to be skeptical about the Cardinals.
I don't agree with every move and every draft pick they've made the past two years. But I do think the net result is a much more competitive and physical team, with the potential to be elite in a couple categories. Physical teams are much harder to push around and they tend to be able to keep games close when they may not be playing very well. Kind of like the Bears game.
I also would have preferred they prioritized or done a few things differently with the DL, Edge, and CB positions. But it's not like they didn't add anything. They also have a couple promising younger guys coming back from injury, and there should be a big step up for several others as they gain more experience.
They signed SMB to be CB1 and drafted three more CBs in the draft. That’s a position I expect to see several guys make an improvement over last year.
So even though I would have done a few things differently at the position, I still expect the secondary to be a much better unit than last year. SMB, Darius Robinson, and Mack Wilson should all be significant additions to help change the narrative.
I don't expect the D to all of a sudden be dominant. But I think they will make a significant improvement this year.
I can easily see them finishing in the top 15 to 20 range.
I'm usually pretty reserved in my optimism. But something about how I see things developing has me feeling bullish about what to expect this year. I've been saying I predict seven wins as the floor and eleven wins as the ceiling.
We will find out soon enough...

@@azirish10 I appreciate your fair assessment.. so many on these are just one sided.. as a fan I believe in being honest .. people get offended and say go follow another team if you don’t post on here oh they are going to win 11 games . In their over 100 years they have only got to that mark or better like 5 or 6 times 1925 and 47 including 😁.. I like realistic fans as when I grew up.. this schedule is rough and division they must learn how to adjust and win ..

Good analysis and I agree that more than 7 wins would be surprising. Kyler Murray is too short and he has lost a little speed. I think their games will be close, but that they wont be able to come up with the goods when it counts. In the 2025 draft they should take a big strong QB- 6-5" 235#, probably D.J Ulagaleilei.

Unlikely they move off K1 considering his contract unless he significantly underwhelms this year

Something tells me you haven't paid attention to Kyler or the Cardinals this off season

imma be honest, this might be the worst comment i’ve seen about the Cardinals QB situation. Kyler is their franchise guy, he also is the same height as Bryce Young and an inch shorter than Russel Wilson.

I agree with that prediction 5-12 sounds about right for the cardinals
