I made this for my sister-in-law since she gives us eggs from their hens! It is the most adorable chicken ever!! The shape comes together so nice and realistic. I used 24/7 cotton yarn, made a small nest, and even found some tiny brown eggs at Hobby Lobby to put in the nest. It will make a meaningful gift! Thank you for yet another great design! You are the best!
So awesome to hear! What a nice gift you made
I really appreciate how you tell what row and how to locate where to put the beak, eyes, crown, and tail. It really helps me!
Thanks for the awesome feedback!
I've done quite a few hens, chicks.. and this is by far the best. Also, easy to understand and to-the-point tutorial. Thank you so much for sharing. Love it so much! 🥰

Cute! Chickens are a year round bird. I'm making one for my daughter who has chickens on her hobby farm. 🐔🐥😊
Thk so much ❤
I’m loving your videos! Your so clear and easy to follow! Not easy to find when trying to learn new patterns, it’s so helpful for those of us that have a harder time understanding a pattern the 1st time. ❤

I never once thought of using another piece of yarn as my stitch marker lol
I'm too cheap to buy stitch markers so I just use whatever I have nearby lol
thank you so much for this tutorial! i enjoyed making a little chick. i made a bunny a while back and i’m using them as decoration for easter 🐣
Aww I"m so glad you like my tutorial!! Yay!
Great tutorial....mine turned out so cute!
This is so cute! I’m new to crochet and I’m curious if you could start with a magic loop + 8 sc instead of the ch 2?
Yes you can! With plush yarn it's recommended to do the chain method because it's hard to pull the magic ring closed (you risk the yarn breaking). But if you're using other types of fibers, startign with magic loop + 8 sc is teh same!
@@SweetSofties Thank you! :) I did find out the hard way and broke some very thick yarn I had but I was able to make a magic loop the second try while tugging slowly and holding onto the stitches firmly. Woohoo!
I still don't understand how to close a magic circle properly after 1 year of crocheting
Where Can I get plastic saftey eyes from?
Hii can you please tell me where u buy the materials? Thanks! I'm starting a business and im trying to do crochet 😅❤
Sure thing! I'll link to what I used below:
Super bulky “6” yarn in desired colors (Yarn I used: hobbii.mvk.co/2g8s4)
8mm plastic safety eyes (x2): amzn.to/3BNDa70
5mm crochet hook: amzn.to/3olyQce
I somehow ended up at 18 stitches at 17:55 I'm not sure what happened but I have a very chunky chicken now (I've been crocheting for over a year so I was caught by surprise by how wrong I got it, any ideas what happened?)
I’m sorry but I’m not sure what happened! 😫
Do you have any tips on crocheting with that kind of yarn?
Yes! You can check this post out: www.sweetsofties.com/2019/08/crocheting-with-fluffy-yarn.html
It applies to furry/fluffy yarns because they generally have poor stitch definition making it hard to see the stitches.
@@SweetSofties thank you yet again lol. I appreciate you always getting back to me so quickly.
Of course!! :)
Can u give the pattern to make the bird nest u made in the thumbnail? It doesn’t show in the video… thanks!! 😋💗
Hi! The pattern for the nest is part of the written pattern (PDF download) and that’s linked in the description! Hope this helps! ☺️

How can i see description can someone help me ps
Under the video title, click on the “…more” and you should see the description pop up!
Thank you! Next time if you could please make sure your technique is shown in the video rather than being cut off, that would be great. I don’t understand how to do the crown and tail because your crocheting techniques are done out of the video frame and quickly :(. I’m trying to figure out how to do the half double Crochet. I’m a beginner.
I slow the videos down when it goes too fast. Click on the settings (the gear looking thing) and choose playback speed. I will sometimes speed it up or slow it down as needed. Hope this helps! ❤
@@teresapoulson2558 That didn't address the original issue of the technique being cut out of the video frame so watching the video slowly wouldn't help since the technique is not visible....
