I DJ a karaoke night & spend a lot of time on the mic. it's hands down one of the most important skills to have as a DJ if you want to come off professional.

    Hi johnathon
A brilliant tutorial as always but could you do a tutorial with say radio mics where there is a volume control on the box before it goes to the mixer.

was just about to ask the same thing. Always getting feedback on karaoke and no idea how to set the gain on the radio mic box and the mixer

Great video Ellaskins. I believe that the microphone nowadays are a bit forgotten about, especially if you are playing in clubs and play EDM. Microphones used to be the MC's go-to-tool, bit of a shame that it´s not like that anymore. I try to use it during my dj gigs but never got my head around feedback loops (or actually done a poor job investigating the cause of it haha). Thanks for bringing it up! :)

Can you please do a similar video for say a dual radio mic system where there is volume on the reciever for each mic as well as the gains and fader controls on the mixer.

Its funny jon when i started it was ALL mic work.
Then for years it was almost abandoned. Funny now in last few years its come back.
Another tip is make sure your decks are indeed BEHIND your speakers.. this also helps greatly..

I usually like to kill the low on the mic to get rid of all the rumbling from my low voice. ;)
It also makes all the P's and B's less overbearing as well as reducing overall handling noise.

Ha ha ... when a D.J talks over the tracks at a family party... and you can NEVER understand what they say... Everybody knows what that sounds like.... 🔊🎤🙉

So true!! And the funny thing is the DJ thinks he/she sounds fine, but from the audience perspective it is just muffled. A lot of that is down to the DJ holding the mic too near their mouth.

would you still get feed back if you left your sliders in the up position ?

  • @tomislavsekerija1957TN

    1st rule - cut, don't boost.
2nd rule - bass is your enemy most of the time, so cut it a bit (based on the mic You use, proximity makes it even worse

question... im using the ddj 1000 and my mic is the AT2035. is the mic the reason why it just simply isnt working? all of my settings are correct and it i just have nothing going through my speakers, maybe the mic and the deck aren't compatible?

    • @tomislavsekerija1957TN
      @tomislavsekerija1957TN Před 3 lety

Use dynamic mic. Condenser mic need phanthom power (48v mostly) that is not packed in the DJ mixing gear AFAIK.
