I recorded this video five times. Because it was a cocktail time watch, I figured that I'd honor it with an adult fizzy during the video. The first video didn't come out well and by the 4th, I was pretty lit up. hah! The last time I had a drink was months ago so my tolerance is quite low. I had to sober up and try again.
Making this video took over 12 hours now. That's what it takes. Sometimes it's super quick, sometimes it takes a while.

When I look at a watch, the first thing is the dial, then the finish of the hour and minute markings, then the hands, the bezel. Then, I will consider the movement. The 4R movement from Seiko is not bad. It has all the features like hacking, manual winding that a person can expect in an automatic watch. It's not that accurate but who cares. That dial alone is worth more than what we pay for the watch already. I am so in love with Seiko watches and a proud owner of Seiko. Whenever a friend of mine shows off his/her DW or Michael Kors or something like that, I just smile and show them mine. Such a gorgeous piece for the price and trust me when I say the camera just does not do the justice for this watch. You have to see it for yourself to be breathtakingly astounded by the beauty of this watch.

I always change the buckles on my leather watches to deployment clasps to preserve the leather. Over time, I realized that installing them the way this is installed is better. It's easier to put on.

It a great looking watch for sure, I've been eyeing it but a bit too big for my taste, if they made it at 38mm it would be perfect, IMO.

Thanks for the review and closer look at this lovely piece. That dial! Nothing quite like it anywhere. Damn it! Had to just order one now.. But, decided to go with the SARY087 with date wheel at 6 and the large sweeping power reserve.

Ordered one and can't wait but just wish it didn't have a crown gap and the date window background was blue rather than black (or no date) as it's all about that mesmerizing dial. Reminds me of the detailed dial finishing of the GS Snowflake (my grail watch). Prefer it to the cluttered power reserve indicator version.

Why oh why is it Hardlex, that's the only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger on this watch. The dial is so beautiful I would be worried about scratches..especially because it's domed. Sapphire needed!
Nick Kermode couldn’t agree with you more. From what I’ve read though making a boxed domed sapphire crystal would be very expensive, which would probably inflate the cost of the piece, putting it over the price point Seiko is trying to stick to for this line.

It's been two years since you posted this, and I was wondering if you still have it in your collection. If not why did you sell it? Did you just grow tired of the dial? If you kept it, why? Fun story time: I ordered a Hirsch leather strap, and it was due to arrive 2 weeks after. Fast forward nearly two months and it hadn't arrived yet. I message the dealer and they say it was lost in custom, and would either send me another or give me a refund. I say I want another and they message me saying it will be shipped tomorrow.
About to take a bath when my mom runs to my room and says I won't believe what just arrived: my Hirsch leather strap that I ordered two months ago and was going to receive another one.
Had to message the dealer saying "nevermind, it just came in, thanks"

Easy suggestion but obvious one: both a matte and glossy dark navy blue croc strap. The matte plays with the texture of the dial, the glossy plays with the sine of the case. Either way, Kurt, you gave me a serious horological hard-on over this one. Big ups! (P.S. - you may want to scope out the Theo and Harris shop real soon before doing the strap video. We might have something perfect for this piece incoming *wink wink nudge nudge*)

They went from the 6r movement in the old Cocktail time to the 4r movement. I wish they had kept the 6r movement as well.

That dial is stunning, to be sure. It isn't just the color, there is a depth, a texture, almost approaching a GS Snowflake.
I'm partial to bracelets myself. Wonder if Strapcode makes something for the normal Presage line that would fit this. Also, that deployant, how hard would it be to fit that on a more quality strap? The hardware looked to be of really high quality.

The Presage range with 4R35 movement is retrograde really. Besides the Presage price is getting higher as well the glass should sapphire not hardlex. Look for 6R35 movement on Presage eg SARB033 etc.
Look for Orient classics better value and better movement and about same price.
Even though it is a beautiful dress watch I do find chronograph-like minute chapter inappropriate for a dress watch.

Not too expensive, but there’s quite lot of em. There’s 3500 pcs of SRPC01, and with SARY085 there’s almost 5k same watches going around this planet. Add the power reserve model, there’s a high chance we may meet other person with similiar watches. Not really limited by total counts...
Kilo Gone Sources I'm reading say limited 1,300. Besides its not high end luxury rarity, its under $600 rarity.
While the dial is cool,it is as usual too big for a dress watch for smaller average wrists. Should have been at least 2mm smaller.
