And Hope Listened is a poignant story about the aftermath of a stillbirth and how we can support a family in grief.
Two years ago, theAsianparent launched #ProjectSidekicks and embarked on a mission to achieve the following:
- raise awareness of stillbirth (WHO reports 2.6M stillbirths globally every year; over 100,000 occur in Southeast Asia, or 286 grieving families a day.)
- lower the risks and thereby give parents a higher chance to deliver a healthy baby, and
- reduce the rate of stillbirths by 10% across Southeast Asia.
At the same time, we also set out to support grieving families of stillborn babies and remove the stigma associated with baby loss.
If you're watching this, theAsianparent team is seeking your help to raise awareness of stillbirth and the three healthy pregnancy habits that mothers should follow to reduce the risks-which are to count their baby’s kicks, sleep on their side, and not smoke. Following these three simple habits will help to reduce the risks by 30-50%.
October 15 marks Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day. In some countries, the remembrance is held throughout the month; and in some, throughout the week of Oct. 9-15. This week is also a very meaningful week for us as it marks the second anniversary of Project Sidekicks on Oct. 12. To commemorate this milestone, we are hosting a series of webinars across the region. Hopefully, you can find the time to watch.
