  • This is one of possibly many destination dispatch elevators in the city of Chicago. This one is a Schindler Port, located at 180 North LaSalle in the downtown loop. We'll ride both the low-rise (3-21) and the high-rise (21-38) by request from Sam Roman. The handicap feature for Schindler Ports goes like this: The panel voice will read through the open floors that the elevators serve and once you hear the floor you want to go to, you have to push the handicap button again and it will then assign you a car. Sometimes, the elevator door closes a bit slower with the handicap feature activated. BTW this was one of the OHC locations and the only public space at that time would be in the lower level.
    My Thoughts:
The system overall is very good. I love how the floor selections are laid out and the unique overall appearance of the panel. However, there are some minor issues that I encountered with the panel. First, when it assigns me a car that is just about to leave, it will end up leaving without me and the door won't reopen, EVEN FOR ONE SECOND just to let me in (as you'll see at 2:46), but it'll still stop at my selected floor, even when I'm not in there. What an idiot! Second, the handicap feature doesn't seem to be fully functional. As you'll see at 9:21, the voice was reading through the floors and I wanted to go to 1 (which is the lobby). You'll clearly see that I pressed the handicap button when the "1" button is lit up, but it doesn't do anything for some reason. So I pressed "1" on the touchscreen (without the handicap) and it assigned me a car. This doesn't seem to be a huge deal unless if a legally blind person wants to use the elevator. The elevators overall are very neat. The sound of the traction motor and the overall cab design are both pretty good. The ride is very smooth too and the speed feels pretty fast for both the low-rise and high-rise. Overall, these are very nice!
Got a request for an elevator/train ride in the Chicagoland area?
    Comment down below!
Some things to know when requesting:
    Only one request biweekly
Ride the Rail requests that take longer than 30 minutes to get from one station to another will take about 2 to 3 weeks to process
Elevator requests of residential complexes may not be guaranteed
If I happen to film your requested residential complex, it will be uploaded as an undisclosed location and I will not mention who requested that
