Andrew, you have tremendous patience and not a swear word. Thank you for setting a good example for all of us.
Well said. Speaks on this mans character. You can tell and feel the frustration. We have all had that [in business with myself] with others placing blame on the ones not at fault. And sad to say it goes "down hill". Gotta a job to do, getting it done regardless! Kudos. That nonsense is on them, And they know it. Character is innate.
Andrew Camarata still has tremendous patience.
Maybe a word or two edited out, I reckon.
Not everyone swears.
I just got douche chills reading this comment
You have much more patients with that engineer than I would have had, you built it to her design, then she decided that plan was no good.!! I would have sent her an invoice . Great job👍

Andrew, your attitude toward doing good work in the face of many changes is rare!! One of the reason I am subscribed! Thanks !!
Who pays for all these things $$$$$I as a contractor would have this in written testimony from the Health department. Make changes see my LAWYER. COUNTY CAN PAY FOR THE CHANGES. Keep up the good work...
That character trait is one of the reasons Andrew is so successful and others not. It's extremely unhealthy to be otherwise but it has taken me long decades to learn it. Shouldn't be a secret but it seems it is.
@@slawkowegrzyn2115 Unfortunately it's often cheaper just to get on with life and make the changes. Battling in court or involving lawyers can get expensive. More expensive than it's worth.

I like your openness and the fact that you have decided to have shown the failed inspection part of the septic field. Great job.

Andrew, I have been binge watching your videos for over a week now and found this little jewel you have been working on. I followed it from when you first broke ground until this final episode. Seeing the working conditions and frustration with frozen ground to frozen equipment and finally bureaucrats. If I ever wanted to show some kid what it takes to be an adult and live up to ones responsibilities this series of videos would be at the top of my list. Well done Andrew. :)
Wow!, I have a lot of respect for you. That was an overwhelming amount of work and after watching the video you pretty much did it solo. You kept your cool and persevered. I have watched all episodes of this build to this septic chapter & I am impressed w/your choice of equipment for this job. Many thanks for showing an honest video of your project. I have done many construction projects, including renovations, and am no stranger to what kind of unforeseeable problems can pop up. OMG, I can only imagine the amount of equipment and man hours this project cost/lost. The fact you completed this project speaks volumes for your personal integrity. You're definitely worthy of respect. Unfortunately, not many contractors would have gone as far as you did. Definitely top 15%, perhaps top 2%. Kudos!
I’m an excavator in the Washington state and man you guys have the coolest rocks! Those big ones you removed from where the tank is going are awesome big ole flat rocks!
I’ve noticed when you set culverts you use smaller flat rocks and dry stack them at each end giving the approach a really clean finished look!
Even though I do pretty much the same thing I very much enjoy watching your videos! Thanks for sharing your work with us!
I didn’t finish the video when I commented earlier. That job tried to kick your ass but you persevered man! You handled the field 10x better than I may have. You did well and I’m glad you didn’t edit out anything!

your honesty and integrity as a contractor are greatly appreciated as an example for others to follow. Keep Up The Good Work! The Rock steps look good too - glad the owner liked it
Being in the trades it's amazing how the engineers can seem to flip-flop and expect us to eat the changes. But we all end up eating labor for one reason or another. Just wish they were held to the same standard. Thanks for sharing the whole truth. I ended up drafting "Schedules of work to be done" for authorization. Then if changes were made, charges could be made. Architects and engineers never want to be called out for mistakes in front of their clients... You were the better party. Good for you.

You’re great. This is practical sewage engineering. I read about these when I was a civil engineering student without knowing what exactly I was reading about without seeing what I was reading about. I like it that you begin by telling your viewers what the problem is and what you are about to do. Who paid for the redo? It is good that you show your viewers the whole project including when things went wrong. I will surely use your videos to educate students and the local people when I embark on my next duty in Africa. Please keep up the good work.
I am a new subscriber. I've just seen this video and want to complement you on your pragmatic approach to fixing your problems as they arise. Your problems with the engineer shows your professionalism when you're up against it. Well done mate.
Andrew I'm declaring you a saint and knighting you simultaneously. I appreciate your professionalism and work ethic. God bless you.
"You want me to go in? I'll go in." Lol I love Andrew
"This septic system could have gone a drop smoother." What a great attitude.
Unless I missed it, I didn't hear Andrew say that he lost any money on this project, only time. He commented on an earlier video that he charges by the hour. So my hope is that his frustration was caused by having to do the work several times, rather than losing any money. The property owner should be very pleased with the work he did.
Also, as an engineer for 30 years, there were plenty of times when I admitted my mistakes, took the responsibility, and did what was needed to make things right.
In the latest video he posted he commented that they didn't pay him unfortunately.

Nice job Andrew! Those baffles in the tank are strange but make it easy! We just stub in 4" and make our own baffles with sanitary tees turned upright with a piece of pipe going down into the tank. I wish some of our operators could learn from you but we are in a completely different type of terrain. Nothing but rock!
I thank you for including the board of health rejection and your repair of your first field here. Because you showed what can happen, I'm going to watch out for these possible setbacks.
We're just in the process of buying raw land and I'm very grateful that you've documented so much of what I'm going to have to learn. Your video library will be an essential tool for me.
No nasty blame throwing except one short sentence on his frustration and then “Alright, let’s get the job done”. Keep it up👍🏻✊🏻
Nice work! You Sir have alot of patience. I would've been tempted to put the engineer under the tank and backfill it. Hopefully, it was a time and materials job and not a bid job.
Thanks.
I think there were two engineers involved, first - the homeowner's engineer who designed and PE stamped the septic system design (redesigning it two or three times from last fall) and second - a county Health Department engineer who inspects the work after installation. We all know every engineer always agrees with every other engineer (sarcasm), Andrew just gets stuck in the middle and has to eat three days of labor and machine time.
David Null, being caught in the middle is a terrible place to be. I think that tank was big enough to cover two engineers. Lol. Andrew did a fantastic job, both on the work at hand and keeping his composure. Impressive on both accounts.
Andrew is being very diplomatic in this video, he has to work with the same government departments for many years to come and also very likely he will work with this engineering firm again. He's thinking about his future doing work in the area.
Andrew Camarata yes their was f**k ups but at who's expense, you were just doing what you were told. What does that aggregate/screenings cost per tonne. Here in Australia about $30 per tonne for 20mm screenings or a 20mm rubble/road base material which we just use a scalps(non speck) is around $10-16 per tonne. Did you have to pay for all the extra material? Or did the engineer. I probably already know who.did.
My father owned and ran an earthmoving business for 30 years. Before that, he was a carpenter/house builder. He regularly referred to construction engineers as "village idiots with their brains bashed out". He would say that all the time. Now I understand why.
Civil engineers are known as the liberal arts majors of the engineering field. Residential is even worse.
He's not wrong lol
This lady should definitely be fired

Andrew Camarata, We watch for advice too!!! I've been in welding for 20+ years. It's almost always those so-called "engineers" that screw it up for the people actually "doing the labor". One of my favorites, watched a few times now. I have a diy septic system in my near future plus it’s just quintessential Andrew… Getting the job done, great camera and editing work, and perseverance.
I did my own septic system a few years ago. It took me a full week, doing it by myself( just the leach field). I was dreading the inspection and thought I failed it as the inspector kept confirming the elevation of the lateral ends. I would recommend getting a helper to do the elevation checks of the lateral. I must have got on and off the back hoe 1000 times to check myself.

Ciao Andrew. This reminded me of a job I took on back in the 70's installing a 40,000 liter fuel tank. The job site was close to being called a swamp. The fist meter of excavation water started coming in and didn't stop. I expressed my serious concerns to the owner and he insisted to proceed. As long as I was digging a 5 inch pump was running. Ok the hole was drug and the mega tank arrived. I placed it and started covering it. After 1 hour you could see it was starting to float. The tank was still not certified sound theory it could not be filled with fuel. All the lines had still not been attached. The owner decided to fill it to keep in from floating. I had 2 meters of ground above the top of the tank but it raised to almost 50 cm below ground level creating a hump. The owner created a landscaped hill design. This was a nite mare and I was so happy to leave the site!
Good job Andrew.
so if that tank runs down to half full and the rains come it will just float out with fuel spilling! Not good, it should have been anchored with concrete.

I have been basically doing the same thing over the past few months. Although here in Kentucky inspectors are not as strict... luckily. It’s always an amazing feeling and a weight of my shoulders when I get a bigger job finally finished. Good job here, and like you said it’s better you show the mistakes rather than cover them up. It helped me seeing what is allowable and what isn’t even if the inspections here are not as strict. I like my work to last a long time while keeping ground water clean around it.
