    Thankyou again for another informative video. I’m a midwife and breast cancer survivor. My patients are always asking me about lumps that come up in their arm pits as their milk comes in. I give them general reassurance that this is usually breast tissue, and will resolve by itself. Let your O&G know about it and follow up if it doesn’t resolve in a couple of weeks. I’m going to suggest my patients watch this video as it explains normal lumps so well.

      Love, Dr Griggs may be an Oncologist by profession. But she's also a great & talented public speaker. Does an excellent job breaking down medical terms were anyone can easily understand her. Have watched quite a few of her video's & highly recommend her. Kudo's to you Love for finding educational material for your patients. I breast fed 4 babies and had it commented that I had very Fibro cystic breasts. That was just the way I was made. Had no issues till I turned 60. So I can appreciate why breast education is so very important. Good luck in your profession @LoveLiveCruise 😊

    A timely video as I am going for an ultrasound this week for a lump. i am wondering if there are still changes in the breast tissues in someone who has already been through menopause. Say for example, monthly as one would have changes before menopause. Thank you

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  Před 8 měsíci +1

      After menopause, we tend not to see cyclical changes in the breast. If someone is early on in menopause, it could be possible however.

    Many thanks, Dr. Griggs, for this useful video! I had left mastectomy with reconstruction and lymph nodes removed in November 2022, followed by radiation and now on medication treatment (verzenio, estrogen suppressant). There was a 3mm growth in the right breast at the time of diagnosis (MRI in August 2022), some 1 week before surgery the doctors recommended to biopsy this growth, which I refused because at that point it was too much for me. In March this year the MRI indicated that growth wasn't detectable anymore. In June the MRI indicated an enlarged 1,3mm lymph node in the right breast, that 3mm growth and additional tiny growths next to it. A control MRI is recommended in January. I am Check-2 positive. Also in January we will need to decide about possible corrections of the left breast (I have slight capsule fibrosis which might need surgical removal) and what to do with the right breast. Considering the Check-2 mutation and increased risk of breast cancer, left mastectomy and the constantly changing situation in the right breast, at this time I lean towards right mastectomy to eliminate the risk of cancer in the right breast and save my life in the long run. I do understand that you don't give medical advice, but what else do I need to consider to help me make my decision on the right breast? Thank you!

      Thanks for taking the time to write. Questions to consider asking your medical team include: What are my chances of getting cancer in the unaffected breast based on the treatment I've received and am currently on? Are there other measures I can take other than surgery to reduce that risk? Is reconstruction an option for me? Will I need to have lymph nodes assessed/removed? What is the recovery time after a preventive mastectomy? Wishing you all the best. Keep coming back.

    Thank you so much for this video, I'm new here, I am very much concerned about the lumps in my, especially left breast. They have always been there and enlarge mostly before my periods and reduce after that but this time around they are a bit concerning because they have reduced after menstruation yes but they are a weird. I'm so nervous and afraid. I don't know why it's concerning this time around when I've been like this for up to ten years

      Thank you for writing with your concerns. All kinds of things can make us worry about things that have been happening for a while. It's common for worries to increase when other stressors come up, when we hear of someone diagnosed with cancer, or even when stressful things go away! Hoping that coming here and writing to us helps you feel less alone.

    Thank you, great content; straight and to the point.
    I have been getting a pimple near my areola since the 90”s. All my mammograms have been perfect to date.
    One strange thing I have noticed is that whenever I eat dairy products the pimple increases.
    Recently, i slept in a tight bra for a few nights… the pimple increased to the size of a quarter coin. It appears that there is fluid that needs to drain…
    It appears that it is now reduced to about the size of a dime…
    I do have a medical scheduled.
    Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? I know what it could possibly be. Thanks.

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  Před 4 měsíci

      Fibroadenomas do generally cause pain. However, some people find that they are more tender around their menstrual period. In addition, if someone is touching the fibroadenoma a lot, that can cause tenderness. Thank you for watching.

      @yerbba  Před 3 dny

      If you feel a lump or any unusual changes in your areola, it's important to consult with a healthcare provider for a proper assessment. They can determine what it might be and whether any further testing is needed. While at your age, breast cancer is extremely uncommon, getting medical attention is the right thing to do.

    Hi doc, my woman removed lumps from her breast three times and she wants to go for the Fourth operation. But the doctor said that her lumps is not cancerous and that it's only going to stop when she gives birth and start to breastfeed. Please how true is that cos I'm confused about the whole thing

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  Před měsícem

      Without knowing the exact diagnosis, it is difficult to provide much clarity. If three lumpectomies have not revealed cancer, it is likely that further surgery is not necessary. Again, however, it is difficult to know the underlying cause of the breast abnormalities.

    Does having mastectomy instead of lumpectomy, reduce the chances of cancer recurrence??

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  Před 8 měsíci

      Great question. We know from very large randomized trials that the risk of distant recurrence and death is not better in people who have a mastectomy who would have otherwise been able to have a lumpectomy. Removing more normal breast tissue does not increase survival. The risk of having a recurrence in the breast is higher if there is remaining breast tissue, but these recurrences (in the breast) are generally curable.

    not cancerous?

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  Před 8 měsíci

      Great question. Non-cancerous lumps in the lymph nodes are treated based on the underlying cause. Some people will have surgery depending on what is causing the lump.

    I felt a lump in my breast in 2019 and had my doctor check it and was told that’s it’s normal and nothing to worry about and i still have it but it hasn’t really changed shape or size but I feel like it gets a little bigger during my periods. I am 19 now and sometimes I just get scared. I have no family history or anything. It’s all fine right?

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  Před 18 dny +1

      Given your age and the description, it may indeed be a benign condition such as fibrocystic breast changes, which are common and can cause lumps that fluctuate in size with your menstrual cycle. However, any persistent lump in the breast should be evaluated by a healthcare provider to rule out any other possibilities.

      Any persistent lump, especially one causing pain, should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. While many breast lumps are benign, especially those associated with hormonal changes, it's important to have it assessed, especially given its size and your discomfort.
