    I like the final reflection, God knew Bender wouldn't trust him to do anything for the monks so he would instead do it himself, but that was precisely God's plan, so he actually did help the monks, through Bender.

      it was a 3 for 1. Send Bender home, answer Fry's prayer, save the monks, all with one move. When things line up like that, you gotta do it.

    Does anyone else notice that "God" basically talks to Bender on his terms throughout the End of The Episode when he's explaining things to him, but then only stops to actually correct him, when he needs to tell him something important. I find that to be a fascinating interpretation on how Prayer kind of works, he made it so he would understand him, but also that he still knew the truth, and felt comfortable with the conversation at the end of the day, all while still using that "Light Touch". Even if he doesn’t realize it, funny enough, I think Bender appreciated that. 'Somebody who understands him'.

    This episode of Futurama has been recognized as one of the best in the whole series if not THE best episode. It was the winner of the Writers Guild of America Award for Animation in 2003.
    In 2008, Empire placed Futurama 25th on their list of "The 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time" and cited this as the show's best episode.
    Even the show creator Matt Groening has cited it as one of the best episodes of the series.

      Interesting, I have never heard of this episode being anyone's favourite episode until now. As opposed to the two commonly mentioned ones.

    Bender: so you know everything I'm going to do before I do it?
    "God": yes!
    Bender: what if I do something else?
    "God": then I don't know!
    Bender: cool, cool

    God: Yes, I saw. You were doing well until everyone died. 😂

    Between the space banditos and the space pirates, space sure does seem like a dangerous place.

      Not too bad so far. I mean, only three people have died out there. Going there, and coming back, on the other hand…

    Ah the pity! Fated to drift forever through the void as gravity’s plaything. Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned!

    “Godfellas” is undoubtedly one of my favourite (or if not my favourite episode) of Futurama, it was a very unique and interesting take on religion.

    i really loved this episode back when i was first watching on fox. one of the ones i'd turn around and watch on my tv on adult swim as a teenager instead of chatting on instant messengers or chatrooms (always have adult swim as background noise if you're a teenage boy)

      He was traveling faster then they were and they were already traveling at max speed so there was no way to catch up to him, he was already so far ahead they couldn't even see him anymore by the time they stopped.

    • @LadyBeyondTheWall
      @LadyBeyondTheWall Před 5 měsíci +8

      They would have literally never caught up with him. There was no way for them to go faster and the likelihood of Bender hitting something in space and slowing down was so remote. If you just toss something out into space really fast, there's a 99% chance it will never hit anything for a very, very, VERY long time because everything is just so far apart. So, it seemed hopeless. 🤷🏻‍♀

    • @quinna5537

      they couldn’t catch up to him even if they rubbed the engines with 🐆🩸

    • @0okamino
      @0okamino Před 5 měsíci +3

      Well, they didn’t know he had any swag, and certainly wouldn’t expect him to be willing to throw any away for the purposes of slowing himself down (and it was quite surprising that he did).
