  • Back to the bench with my SCX10.3! This week, I installed a ton of awesome metal upgrades from SAMIX. I know there's some ongoing debate about whether you should add weight to your RC crawler, but this time I went full bling and installed pretty much every one of SAMIX's metal hop-ups: Aluminum shock towers, brass portal weights, steering knuckles, diff covers, shock caps and high clearance links. I think they look super mean! My rig now weights 9.24lbs (4.19 kg)!!
Huge thanks to SAMIX for letting me try out all their option parts for my Jeep!

Pretty cool set up. I do like seeing others set up their rigs, million ways to skin a cat. On my Trx4's I have outer brass portal covers and that's it. Both perform outstanding. I haven't done anything to my 21 Bronco yet, and not sure if I'm going to. I think you need to start a new series like Harley Design. He has the Trx4000 and you can build the Scx10 3000!!!🤘🤘🤘 Samix does make some great stuff.

That is one sweet rig. As far as weight distibution goes, I add a ton of low metal to keep my trucks planted but I always add a large battery and a little extra weight to the chassis to get that realistic body roll. And an aluminum rim is the most rotating mass I'll add.

the samix titanium links are actually a lot lighter/skinner than the stock links. you should swap them all plus the dimensions match up a bit better i believe. you can also get a small length on the axle thread to allow end caps

Sweet rig, but those are some seriously pricey upgades. As a 1st time RCer, what is the benefit of the Portal axle vs the straight axle, like on my 1/10 Losi Baja Rey? I still have the throttle controller set at 25% and its still way too fast to really let it loose or it likes to roll in turns and adjustments to the shocks' spring tension doesn't seem to affect this propensity. I've limited the steering as well to around 25% and still too responsive. smh
