Everyone there was crying and singing along, happy to have this beautiful moment to play and listen to music again at this resurrection concert after a long hiatus due to COVID and member changes.

Too old to rock but too young to die. LOVEBITES have re-vitalised me. They are awesome. I wonder what Miyako was looking at when all 4 lined up at the front of the stage. Looking forward to seeing them in June. 🤘🤘🤘

Yes, their technique is totally off the chart. All five of them. I have seen vocal coaches and serious singers that just drop their jaws at how easy Asami move around from lows to highs and how full her voice sounds. Haruna on the drums is a enigma, how do she do it? It looks so easy. And, out comes a fast stream of perfect timing and perfect placement of all cymbal hits and rolls. Out of nowhere and almost forever. And the duo Miyako and Midori, the best speed metal duo out there. Dragonforce, eat your heart out! And now, the new young girl Fami that is a master on the bass. Not really metal, but learning fast! NOTE, the former member Miho is a very good metal basist. So, Fami has some things to live up to. All in all, you seldom find so many top notch musicians in the same group.

you are correct - from a technical standpoint this is not one of their harder songs. the dual guitar solo is mostly single note picking without a lot of all the other things that they could throw in if they wanted to. The unofficial anthem of Lovebites. When they started , they were already one of the best band's in the world , and they getting better day by day , the throne for the ladies its more than fair. A band with no weak points , one by one they are top musicians as a group they have no match , and in this one Fami beated her smile record 😂

IIRC, she says something about being happy, that they (LOVEBITES) are 5 members again (after Fami joined as a new bassist), and then transitions to their anthem "We The ... United"!
Songs like "We The United" and "When Destinies Align" were hard to stomach after the departure of bassist and band leader Miho, as they had a uniting impartial message. This defines the significance of their playing here...

It's an old song, but new performance. It has been recorded live on three different DVDs. The first two featured the original bassist Miho on 2019's Daughters of the Dawn DVD, and again on 2020's Five of a Kind DVD. This is the first version to feature Fami on bass and is taken from the 2023 Knockin' at Heaven's Gate 2 DVD. They will be appearing in the US for the first time this Fall at ProgPower USA (at least as a band - Asami used to live in the US, and Miyako and Midori have both been featured artists at NAMM in California).

*Fami* is a daughter of Japanese Metalheads. She always ackowledged or even appreciated Metal excellence (Iron Maiden, Helloween...), but went into J-Pop (Animé film soundtrack covers, music education) herself. On her own, she became more famous in Japan, than Lovebites. 😂When she joined Lovebites, the Japanese music scene was _jaw-dropping surprised_ , that the young J-Pop heroine Fami would change into the Metal area. But she fits in just _perfectly_ with Lovebites, and the rest is history! Fami has to fill big shoes indeed, but she learns quickly, being a _genius_ on the bass guitar.
*Miho* (ex-Lovebites, Lovebites co-founder with Haruna) is a very good Metal bass player, having learned from the best (e.g. Iron Maiden's Steve Harris). She is now rocking with the Japanese Metal band "Chaos Control". Watch their promotional music video "The legacy within" here on CZcams, and you know where their journey is going.

LOVEBITES as a group has never been to North America. Individually, Asami lived in America for a time, Midori and Miyako were at NAMM 2020, and Haruna played at least one show in America when she was in her previous band, Destrose. If Fami has been to America, I don't know about it. Right now we know the band will be making their American debut in September 2024, but there's speculation that that'll be part of a larger tour. We'll see.

Trust us, it's not easy. Their first appearance in North America (as a band) will be this September. (Asami used to live here when studying dance, and M&M have appeared at the gear festival NAMM.
Hopefully, their stop in the U.S. will set them up for more shows.
@@MattsMoshPit1 It does seem crazy for them not to do more shows. Their summer is booked up with festivals in Europe, so additional US dates are more likely to be in the fall.

First time listening to them. And OK I'm probably the biggest power metal fan in my IRL bubble, and they are good, but not blowing my mind. Very reminiscent of the "classic" Stratovarius of the late 90s though, just listen to "Black Diamond" (the live version from "Under Flaming Winter Skies" is my go to, not classic lineup but great performance). Which sounds very cool for me. I enjoyed the guitar harmonies a lot, that was cool, too. They seem to enjoy themselves, and this is always good to see. The vocals didn't do it for me, though, I don't think she's a bad singer, but her specific voice isn't my pint of beer. Maybe that's why I'm not hooked. Yet. Who knows.
For me I love the talent of the band and how much fun they seem to have. I struggle with the vocals as well, as it’s not what I typically gravitate towards. Like anything with enough listens the vocals start to make sense with the band. I like that they are raising the metal flag in Japan.
@@MattsMoshPit1 as far as I know Japan has a good metal scene, especially power metal. People on Reddit talk about them a lot. Euro heavy and power bands like Strato, Sonata Arctica, Tarot, early Nightwish were popular over there in the 90s before they really made it big in other European countries (just realized I wrote down Finnish bands only, but my point stands :D). My knowledge about this is muddy at best, but it makes sense that a younger generation of metal musicians will be inspired by this. As always, super cool to see an all-female band.

It's a pity your audio is in mono, since the Lovebites audio on their live videos is very well mixed with a great stereo balance with Midori panned to the left ear and Miyako to the right. In mono you loose so much of the impact. Still, good reaction and support for the ladies. 🐺
