    What is Paracord?
    "Parachute cord (also paracord or 550 cord when referring to type-III paracord) is a lightweight nylon kernmantle rope originally used in the suspension lines of parachutes. This cord is useful for many other tasks and is now used as a general purpose utility cord by both military personnel and civilians.
    The yarns of the core (commonly referred to as "the guts") can also be removed when finer string is needed, for instance as sewing thread to repair gear, or to be used as fishing line in a survival situation. The nylon sheath is often used alone, the yarn in the core removed, when a thinner or less elastic cord is needed such as when used as a boot lace. Ends of the cord are almost always melted and crimped to prevent fraying.
    In addition to purely utility functions, paracord can be used to fashion knotted or braided bracelets, lanyards, belts, and other decorative items. These are sometimes tied in a fashion that can easily be unraveled for use in a survival situation. Some companies use paracord in conjunction with other survival components to create everyday wearable survival kits.
    Hikers and outdoor sports enthusiasts sometimes use "survival bracelets" made of several feet of paracord which is woven into a compact and wearable form. Such bracelets are meant to be unraveled when one needs rope for whatever purpose - securing cargo, lashing together poles, fixing broken straps or belts, or assisting with water rescues. Young survivalists (boy scouts) are also taught the importance of using the paracord as a survival tool.On the other hand, the paracord is a poor choice for an emergency tourniquet as its small diameter will crush tissue without applying the needed pressure to stop bleeding.
    Additional uses for parachute cord are in the manufacture of items such as lanyards, belts, dog leashes, rosaries, and key chains. This is becoming more popular as crafters are discovering this material."

    Nice job on the video! I find it interesting how you do the core strands, as it is slightly different than I do, but the concept remains the same. It looks like your experience of tying it is similar to mine - it's one of those knots that doesn't really hold itself together until you get three or four passes down into the pattern. Thanks for giving credit, too. Happy tying!

    is that 14' for each color or 7' for each for the combined 14'?

    Nice weave, thank you for sharing. I'm working on a way to do it without the buckle. I like to use all cord and knots if I possibly can.

    Thanks for the videos. Great looking bracelet. Is the 14 ft just for the weave or does that include the 6 core strands?

      @Paracord101  Před 10 lety +1

      Thanks for asking. It includes the core, too.

    At the beginning of the video, the bottom portion of the work is cut out of view of the camera. Asinine.

    Not a fan of bracelets but I like to put them on knives , flash lights , saws etc. I would like to see these done without buckles and replaced with loops or just a dead end. Thanks

      Bryan Resch I make buckle and sinnet bracelets on CZcams unlike those that just do sinnets and those that just do buckles. Just like other paracordists, I can't do it all. Some just like wraps, some like bracelets, lanyards, etc. I would sure like to see your knife wraps you've adapted. Feel free to share at facebook.com/therealparacord101

    quick question. in the beginning you say requires 14ft of paracord to do a 7,25 bracelet. Is that doubled length for two colors, so basically 7 foot of each?

    • @ShadowDrakken
      @ShadowDrakken Před 6 lety

      I'd be interested in knowing too. Actually I'd like a better breakdown overall: separate the weave length from the core length, separate each strand length (for multi-strand projects) especially if one color in the pattern is a different length. That way if I wanted I could make longer items more easily... slings, straps, leashes, etc. Some of it can be calculated easily enough, but having a total breakdown gives more options.

    jeremy - Yes, 2 x 7 = 14 ft. If you want a two color zawbar, you will need to splice the two - seven feet sections together: czcams.com/video/ETUG_fuDYy0/video.html

      nope i got that. i just wanted to make sure i was seeing correctly before i started a project. also i was reading some of the comments, and you mention that you do a lot of projects with buckles. but several projects i see start from the sinnet? can all projects be done both ways because i'm having problems figuring out how to start some of my projects on buckles?

      xXxTOXICKINGxXx Thanks for watching! There are two main types of learners: (1) Visual and (2) Auditory. I teach how I like to learn. 100% visual. I personally find it distracting when people talk or go too slow, pause, point, hand gestures that mean nothing... However, there are plenty of paracordists out there that like to talk. I hope you find what you are looking for! Good Luck with you new hobby! :)

    question Paracord 101 is it just me or is there no sound?

    • @Paracord101
      @Paracord101  Před 9 lety

      ***** All of my early videos do not have sound. I typically turn sound off when watching other paracord videos. I find sound/music/talking very distracting. 1. I don't like their choice of music, and 2. I don't like commentary with hand gestures with long pauses. So, I made them with no sound. my newer videos do have sound/music.Some even have free PDFs to download instructions. If you have any other question, feel free to ask and thanks for watching!
