  • This was a pretty strange day to say the least...not at all what I expected, but good fun nonetheless! Always cool to figure out a new way to catch em. Drop a comment, like, and subscribe if you enjoyed the video!

    Love these videos! I am from the Adirondacks of upstate NY and we only have channel cats! I’m driving to Alabama next month and plan on stopping in dc to fish for a day.

    Cats love the artificial, especially this time of year. I caught a bunch last year doing exactly the same thing. Also caught several quillback carp too…weird. Hope you got into the red hot shad action in April. It was going off the later half of the month.

    Awesome video man! What lb test leader do you use? And what knot do you use to tie to the Braid?

    • @lastcastfishing3913
      @lastcastfishing3913  Před 3 lety

      Thanks! I was using a 25lb fluoro leader tied to 30lb braid using an FG knot. Thanks for the comment, hope that helps!

    Yoo, what line are you using? also, how hard is that spot to find? Looking for new catfishing spots myself.

      I was using 30lb braid & 20lb fluoro leader on my catfish rod, 20lb braid & 20lb leader on my casting rod, and 4lb straight fluoro on my ultralight. Braid is all Powerpro, fluoro is all Seaguar. it's a pretty popular spot in DC, you can probably figure out exactly where I'm fishing based on the bridge

    where did you park ? usually for chain bridge i park on the other side like a dummy and have to walk all the way across

    • @lastcastfishing3913
      @lastcastfishing3913  Před 3 lety

      There’s a parking lot just after the bridge on Clara Barton, then you just gotta walk to the bridge and take the ramp down

    I’m for sure going to have to try bouncing a fluke off the bottom at the spillways I catfish at. Not sure how it will work in rip rap, but this could be a game changer.

    😅when i was a noob i saw this video 1 or 2 years ago. Now that I've caught bass, carp, catfish and panfish i really wanted to see this video again but didn't remember the name just the Hispanic dude happy with the catfish 😂. I just wanted to see if the fluke was texas rig but i see is not 😢. My Potomac area has way too many trees, rocks and weeds

    What license do you need for that area? It's DC/Va idek

    • @lastcastfishing3913
      @lastcastfishing3913  Před 3 lety

      I'm fishing on the DC side so I have a DC license. But pretty sure you can have a VA license and still be fine

    Thanks for putting out this video. I recently drove from NC to Fairfax, VA (for non fishing reasons) and made it to the very same spot. Advise to visitors; Get your fishing license in VA as it was a pain in the butt to find a Walmart in DC the sold them (non - existent). I went on a weekday and it was awesome. Funny thing, only saw 3 other people casting and I'm pretty sure they were also hispanics (like me, or like in your video). Would I return? Yeap. The parking was a breeze to find, once I researched the name of the bridge on google maps. I took a telescopic rod with a spinner reel & a 5wt Fly fishing outfit, flies, worms and plastics. Overall, I had a good time, thanks to you.
