  • In this video I discuss the results of my domestic Spanish immersion process. Earlier this year I mentioned how I was feeling stuck in my Spanish progress. As as result of that, I decided to spend the past 30 days listening to podcasts, attending Spanish speaking events, and essentially surrounding myself with the Spanish language. This was a very helpful experience. I explain all of the benefits that I experienced in this video.

I've been in a English language immersion for the last 4 months, my English has improved a lot since then, I just want to say your videos have helped me to understand how acquiring a language works, they're almost like a plan or strategy that I can follow and have the confidence that the outcome of this process is gonna be positive.

Hey my man, im from Medellín Colombia, also very fluent in English, went through the same process like you, i found myself feeling the same when I hit the plateau, i didn't want to continue studying, but i also found out that this is the moment that i was looking for to be able to interact with natives with way less fear, this is the moment to live like almost native and do the things they do as far as reading, enjoying jokes, being normal in the culture, this is the moment to start interacting as a normal citizen with them, and focus on accent, hopefully this helps

I have had the same experience in improving my Spanish.. Domestic immersion is great!! I remember when you said that you were going to travel to be immersed . And I am glad that you did not follow through with that but had this experience instead. Now when you travel abroad, you will enjoy it more because it will not be a language-learning task. I experienced each and every one of the steps that you mention in this video. I have been at it since 1984 and I'm still going. Just this past weekend I gave a funeral discourse in English and Spanish at the request of the family since some of them did not speak English. Doing things like this makes my heart melt since it brought the Spanish speakers comfort also... Keep it up Mike!!

It's great seeing you wear your feelings on your sleeve. I'm very happy for you on experiencing the fruits of your labor, and getting to the point where the language is becoming second nature as our primary language does for us.

This is the method I've used when starting to learn Spanish a year ago. It's worked great for me. I've made some great friendships during the process. Native speakers are surprised by my level of Spanish.

Bro I started my Spanish journey around the same time as you. I stopped after 11 months but I’m glad to see your still learning. And talking about your experience about losing interest.
