RGB Rocklight Install - How Do They Compare to My DIY LED Setup?

  • Adding a set of AuxBeam RGB Rocklights to my Jeep, and comparing them to my DIY setup. The Auxbeam kit has multiple advantages; the install was easy and requires no wiring. The color options are a cool upgrade and give your Jeep a touch of personality. I used the RGB Remote App on my Iphone.
    Rocklights: amzn.to/2ucGt5o
    Extension wires: amzn.to/2JgSDyP (I did not use these but a viewer commented and said that he used them)

    You do a great job with your videos....Instead of self tapping screws you should consider rivnuts….they work awesome and come in a variety of sizes....When you install JCR rock sliders you have to use some fairly large ones, but they have small ones for this application too.

    So I just did this on my jeep. I mounted the controller under the center console inside the Jeep and had all the wires come out through the e-brake cable so this way I would have enough wire coming from every light to go wherever I want on the Jeep and just extended the wires from my controller to my battery

    2 questions. 2014 JKU.
    If adding extension wires, would you add 3? One for back bumper and one for each rear wheel well.
    Second question, you mounted the controller inside engine bay against fire wall?
    Thank you!

    • @JKGearandGadgets
      @JKGearandGadgets  Před 5 lety +2

      Depending on where you mount the controller is what will make you need the extensions. If you mount it in the engine bay like I did then yes you will need 3, but then again I made it work without any extensions. But with extensions it will be easier to place the lights exactly where you want them

    Awesome. I don’t have this kit...I am running the Lux Lights on my JKU and even though they are very bright I have found that 6 lights per side (front, rear, wheel wells, and one under each door) work well. Maybe 2 of the 6 light kits would solve your not enough cable and more side light issues. One control box on the left and one control box on the right. What’s also nice about the Lux Lights...no drilling, they’re magnetic. Makes it easier to move the light for those night repairs.
    Enjoy your videos!!! Keep ‘em coming.

      Nah, I’ve just had a lot of people asking for me to do a video on an affordable rocklight setup. I don’t mind adding lights and stuff.

      I know exactly how lol. There’s 4 wires inside the insulation… didn’t want to waste my time splicing and extending 4 rgb rock light wires when they worked perfectly fine were they were at. Thanks for the comment.
