When I was in symphonic band I was 1st chair Bass Clarinet( I was the only one) And then I switched to drumline
But hey what can I say, I love to betray my sections by switching and trying new instrument. I like the section "back stabber"

+purpleapples101 Nah, we just need to play out and be confident.
the problem is that altos don't have as unique of a sound as any of the other wind instruments so it's hard to ever actually hear them specifically. And horn usually shares the same part, so they are heard instead. My school has consistently had amazing altos, so the problem isn't how loud we are playing

oh gosh I was in the 8th grade when I commented this, and now I'm a junior in high school lol. Stick with trombone, trombone is a fun instrument. If you do marching band in high school, and your school doesn't march it then you can learn baritone which is very easy!!
curlykb123, exactly. I played the baritone for three years, and it was the easiest instrument to accomplish and master. I could play every note and I was always on time. Now I'm switching over to the Alto Saxophone. I figured a little change and challenge will work. Good news, I know every instruments' notes and the types.

Haha, that's so true. I play trombone and at least we have a fun soli and harmony. Also, since there are only three of us currently, we get to play everything short of blasting. Fun song.
I played sax but we had a really small band as a private school so the saxes often played the low brass part or our own although my buddy was a trombone player I ended up playing a lot of his parts just by ear and playing along with him during shows sometimes lol. I don't like clarinets though not for like rock and uptempo and I don't know. I like the low brass and horn sections and I love our band in high school was geared more towards writing for the low brass. idea was to be a big wall of sound and also try to be like the marching 110 at OU. Ohio University way better marching band than Ohio State.

Bro I remember we were at a football game and we down 23-0 and it was third quarter then we managed to tie it it went to the fourth quarter both teams were scoring back and forth it got up to like both teams had 42 then over time they went on offense first and scored then made the field goal then we scored and decide to go for two points and it was so close but he made the touchdown that was the loudest we had ever played this sonf
