      I think there's a big distinction between cows living under a shed roof their entire lives and cows wintering in sheds or coming in when the weather is bad. Cows should be outside weather permitting.

    Thanks Tom for sharing this video….since I’m in no way a farm girl, I had no idea that it could be too wet outside for cows and they wouldn’t like to eat wet grass! I figured they live outside a good part of the year so they’d be used to rain ( less flies maybe too) and that wet grass would hydrate them at the same time. I’ve learned something today, and I thank you. Your cows look nice and comfy inside and it’s thanks to you listening to what the cows are showing you what they need and want. Good on you. ❤️👍

  • @tucobenedicto109
    @tucobenedicto109 Před 10 měsíci

    I think that's great. It's wet the ground will get crazy hoof prints then you don't want a cow stuck. The rain will help the grass grow for more grazing. Using those values of hay is a great idea. The fact of the new shed is that you can house all of them. And it's comfy.

We haven't had a drop of rain since June10. And we've experienced 100 degree F. plus since the week after that with no relief in sight. Tom, little known switch on newer Manitou Teles is that they have an override switch (for very occasional use ahem 😜) which allows you to over ride the load indicator, very handy for getting out of sticky situations. It’s normally situated on left hand side of seat, next to DPF regen button (if it’s got a DPF). I currently have a MT1440 A (14m boom and 4 tonne capacity) and a MRT 3050 (Manitou Rotating Telehandler, 30m boom and 5 tonne capacity). Probably going to upset some but find the Manitou’s much better machines than the JCB Loadalls.

    Its also extremely wet across the ocean in Canada. In July, we had more than 300% of the amount of rain that we usually would get. Its absolutely nuts. The ground was gone dry unusually early in spring, and then it just started raining. The weather has been really wacky.

    Thanks Tom, loved the “ding-a-ling-a-ling”. Always great to know you see our comments. Keep up the great work. Amazing all the upgrades to the farm you and your family are doing (aka the Ginger Guy. Lol)

    Once we put in free stalls the cows just would go out for a short time for exercise and then they would come back in. They would not eat much when out on pasture as they preferred the TMR ration. I preferred them eating the TMR ration as I then knew exactly what they were eating each day. They would drop in production when out on grass.

    Great vlog thanks Tom, awful weather we've had around here and I really feel for you having the cows in in late July, early August. Saw you just as we were coming out of the farm shop today but you were on the phone so my beloved and I didn't want to disturb you, we'll catch you some other time. So sorry to hear about the ginger warrior getting a ticket but all, or certainly most of us, have been there. Stay well 👌🏻

    We let cows out in County Fermanagh in the middle of may and we housed them again two weeks ago for winter feeding silage for ten months of the year isn’t very productive when second cut can’t be got off the field 😂

    We're drowning here in central Ontario, Canada like you are. Hardly a day goes by without rain and we had golf ball sized hail for an hour yesterday.
