Only serve the spirit of God. And not the Spirit of Mammon.
So can we work? I save my money but I know it's not a defence. I know God is my only help and he gives me all...I was a homeless drug addict for years and my life is 180 degrees changed. I have a good savings but now I'm nervous
Luke 3:12-14
12 Even tax collectors came to be baptized. “Teacher,” they asked, “what should we do?” 13 “Don’t collect any more than you are required to,” he told them. 14 Then some soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?” He replied, “Don’t extort money and don’t accuse people falsely-be content with your pay.”
Alot of very Godly men were rich, for example Abraham and Job...
3:00 I hear preachers dancing around this. They quote that scripture where Paul said if a man doesn't work he shouldn't eat. To tell the people in the church that they should concentrate on working so that they can pay their tithes and not worry about being called into Ministry. But the truth is Paul was specifically and only talking about preachers when he made that statement about if he doesn't work he shouldn't eat
The letter in which Paul wrote to the Thessalonian church was to the entire church.
I think you have experienced modern teachings from contemporary churches. They run churches in the model of a business organization whereby they obtain money from the congregation - greed is always an issue. With the early churches, they did not operate in this way.
@@hman9581 right. The whole church was equally a part of the ministry. Ultimately the modern American church uses and abuses scripture to manipulate. Anyone THEY want to exclude they throw that scripture at. The modern idea of what it means to work is ungodly. You shouldn't spend all your energy seeking money.
@@saltandlight9068 I would agree with you. At the heart of it all is the love of money. Derek Prince points out it is the Spirit of Mammon. We can see how in this world people desire to "Buy and Sell" - this is not the mark of the Lordship of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus threw out the money chargers in the temple and mentioned they have made the temple a place of "buying and selling".
Jesus mentioned that we can't serve 2 masters. It is either God or Mammon.
In the Book of Revelation ch. 13 we see that the mark of the people of this world is "buying and selling" too.
We see in Book of Revelation ch. 18 that it will end one day this "buying and selling. And we see that the love of money deceived everyone even Christians - Money does not have power at the foot of Jesus.
Paul said whoever you present your members to that's whose slave you are
