- In part 5 of our video series bringing this high mileage E34 M5 back to life we install the hard to find throwing star wheel caps on our M System wheels, along with replacing the old, worn out engine and transmission mounts. #restoration #cars #mechanic #BMW #e34 #m5 #s38 #style20 #style21 #automobile #vulcanmotorworks
Can't wait to see the Vixen RV restoration.
@@myrmeko thanks! We’re working on that project it will be posted here as well!
Never would have guessed those wheels were original. The beauty covers completely changed the look of the wheels and the car. Awesome video.
Haha yeah a lot of people don’t know cause they look so different with the caps on it’s hard to tell. Thanks 🙌🙏
And they forged too :)
I’m not sure if these are the forged or cast versions, but I do know they came both ways!
I rarely comment. Let's keep it simple I wish you all the best that you finish this beauty to it's former glory. Wheels are great. I collected all the M wheels myself. Hopefully you never run out of money. My 540i costed me a lot to finish and i never regreted a cent. Greetings from germany. Wish you all the best.
Thanks so much for the comment! 🙏 we will do our best to bring it back to how it should be! These cars can cost a lot of money, but exactly that we do it cause it’s our passion and at the end you get a a special car that you’ve built just the way you like it. Thanks for the wishes.
Love the series, keep it up.
Thanks, will do! 🙌
Great work, I think your channel is the breath of unsponsored fresh air I needed.😅
Ah thanks! Glad you’re enjoying it! 🙌
Pressure accumulators for the rear SLS suspension on these cars have been out of stock everywhere for years if your keeping the SLS. Bought a full set of these wheels off of Kajiji in Airdrie complete with throwing stars from a E31; the kid was selling them for $80.........mind you this was about 7 years ago when things were cheaper..........needless to say I didnt haggle the price lol. Nice project; the car seems pretty solid for the mileage. Cheers.
Yes this car does have the SLS still functioning and I suspect the accumulators are shot because the rear end sinks overnight. I’ve looked for new but you’re right they are back ordered everywhere unfortunately. I found a pair of working used ones that I will try out once I can figure out how to get the stuck hydraulic lines off of them haha!
$80 is a steal and probably the deal of the century haha I wish I could find a set for that price!
Thanks for the comment yes this car definitely deserved another chance at life and we’re glad we can be the ones to give it! 🙏
Great work)))
Thanks! 🙏
where's the other parts? can't wait to see the restoration completed
Great work good content
Thanks so much! 🙏🙌
ты молодец. спасибо тебе
Nice work! I hope you will polish car later :)
Thanks! Yeah the paint will definitely be getting some love!
Props for installing the throwing stars correctly and mentioning the orientation- everybody seems to get that wrong! For E34 engine mounts, I typically just get them loosened from underneath; on all but the V8 cars, there's enough room to sneak in a flex-head ratchet get the fasteners loose. For the transmission mounts, I'll typically droop the exhaust down a bit (using a pole jack) to get better access to the crossmember bolts. Nice work overall!
Haha yeah I know I’m just tired of seeing them installed backwards 😂 for the engine mounts yeah you’re probably right I just couldn’t get an angle on the passenger side and I think someone tried removing it before cause the nut was messed up causing it to slip with my wrench. I got it eventually though. The M60 cars oddly enough I can get done pretty quickly for some reason 😂
And 100% for the transmission bolts I’ll just lower the exhaust and it gives plenty of room, but on this car someone has put an aftermarket muffler and all the hangars are butchered so I just didn’t want to touch it haha. Gives me a good opportunity to practice my dexterity lol!
is that an m3 e30 i also saw in ur garage, got to make a video on that one to. great content keep up the good work
@@rustkiy yes it’s an E30 M3 we’re S38 swapping currently. It’s a long term project we work on when we have spare time but we never have spare time haha. But I’d like to make videos on it next!
I wanted to write, that its impossible to remove the brakedust from the back of the covers, but you stopped before I could write it LOL
Haha I learned the hard way! I got it pretty clean though if I had spent 2 hours on each cap they would’ve been clean…for about 25 minutes until they’re back to dirty again 😂
1:30 also this is the factory tire ... You should change it after ~ 30 years :D
Haha I know these tires are ancient 😂 it’s gonna get new ones don’t worry!
I have 8 covers (4 left 4 right) and four wheels 8 inch wide and three 9 inch wide :D but Im keeping them, these things just raise in price and you never know when you might damage one-
Wow that’s quite a collection! I collect style 24s in those numbers for my E36! I know it’s always best to keep them even if you sell them then next year they’ll be worth more
Great vid! Keep up the good work mate😉
Thanks! 🙏
Good job Bro 👍
Thanks ✌
Not rusty at all for Ontario vehicle.
I know all things considered it’s really not that bad. There’s definitely still some life in the old girl!
@@VulcanMotorWorks keep those videos coming,my OCD really wanna see that paint polished 😁
Ah yes the hardest part of this whole project is not getting a chance to clean the car it’s usually one of the first things I do! But we have something planned for it so you’ll see hopefully soon!
Nice job. Remember me from first videos. Also buy same time e34m5. Have service manuals?
Hey thanks for coming back! I don’t have any service manuals personally for this one, but if you’re looking for one the bently manual is a great place to start!
I always use Bathroom cleaner on wheels etc it do 98% of the work on parts like that,
@@WesleyClouden thanks I’ll try that next time!
@@VulcanMotorWorks yep spray foam / blue gel less work aka let sit and it falls off like hot butter
When is a new episode coming
@@CoMpLeTeBeNJ working on it slowly. The shop has been super busy lately so I haven’t had much time but I’m still working on it!
@@VulcanMotorWorks Ahh cool 👌
