- Wayne Rooney was "delighted" to bag his 48th goal for England, but insists the 3-2 result in Slovenia is far more significant.
Having missed a couple of early chances and seeing a first-half drive well-saved by opposing keeper Samir Handanovic, the England skipper remained focused before sliding home a late winner in Ljubljana.
The strike ensured the Three Lions go into the summer break with maximum points from their six Group E qualifiers this season.
"We knew it was going to be a tough game in a good atmosphere, especially going one-nil down," Rooney told FATV.
"We showed great character to comeback and take the lead. We were disappointed to concede the equaliser, but thankfully got the winning goal and saw the game out.
"The first goal was a sloppy goal and the second we could have defended better, but overall it was a good performance.
"We got three good goals and I think we deserved the win. We're pleased with the result."

I cant believe England scored that second goal, the pass from Henderson, the flick from Lallana and the strike for Wilshere, that was beautiful.

The counter in the build up for the 3rd was insane too. Jack's block pass, the through ball, the bended first touch flick to skipper centimeters behind the defender
This was at a time when Jack wilshere went 3/4 games in a row as England's MOTM yet fans still slated him just on personal preference and his injury record. Jack on his day was almost unplayable just look back to the game against Barcelona or when England played Brazil at Wembley.
People can slag him all they like.The fact is if he hadnt had injuries that boy was England's greatest natural talent since Gasgoine.FACT.

+Paolo Rolando a lot of my friends don't like him but i rate him very highly, he always seems to step it up when he's in an england shirt. That being said i not sure how i feel about taking a player who has hardly stepped foot on a pitch all season.

People want to hate on Wilshere but on his day he had the ability to be top class, maybe even world class. Sadly his injuries and fitness killed him.

I think Rooney loved playing with Jack. Maybe saw a lot himself in a young Wilshere, the same natural technique on the ball, intelligence and fiery spirit
Jack Wilshere was a fantastic player. The way he moved across the pitch with the ball at his feet was a joy to behold. A real shame how his career played out. I think he burned out. Too many games, too young. And too many injuries. He did have his moment in the sun, but it was much too brief.
That was an absolute beauty from Jack the lad

The build up for 2nd goal is world class .Lallana ,Wilshere ,Sterling and Sturridge must be in the starting XI if we want to play attractive football because they're probably our most skillful players .They know how to move the ball foward , creating space , playing one touch-football .

They were well taken goals by Jack Wilshere & Wayne Rooney especially Jack's 2nd goal for England top draw goal
Wilshire and Lallana. It's a partnership we've seen far too little of over the years. It's a shame because I think they're by far the most gifted English players of their generation. They just seemed to click whenever they played together, and those were the few occassions over the last 15 years when England's midfield actually possessed some real class and creativity.

Joe Curran Awful wasn't it! I actually think Phil Jones is alright but I have no idea why anyone would play him as a right back (or a midfielder for that matter!). There's a club career in central defence there and possibly for England, but putting him on the right isn't doing anyone any favours. And maybe ban him from throw-ins too!

@@mrtoad1408 that's what's heartbreaking for England because not only were they robbed of having someone different like Wilshere in midfield but Oxlade Chamberlain has missed many tournaments too because of untimely injuries towards the end of seasons for Arsenal and Liverpool.
