- The father of computer science and codebreaker Alan Turing will feature on the Bank of England’s £50 note. Thanks to his efforts to solve the Enigma code used by Nazis during WWII, the war was shortened by at least two years, helping save millions of lives.

He should be on the £5 or £10 Note. Or even on the £20 Note. Millions would have seen him on those Notes. Only rather well off UK people go around with £50 Notes. Most UK people never see them! I've only had about 3 in my entire Life, and I'm 60. Poor Alan should not be confined to a Note, that only a minority of Britons will ever possess.

I'm well aware of how many Troops the USSR put into fighting Nazism. It was a gigantic effort. However, the USA and Britain were not able to put all of their Troops into fighting Germany and Hitler. We were also fighting the Japanese in the Pacific War. The USSR had no such need to divide its Troops, as it was not fighting Japan - at all - for nearly all of World War II. Also, Wars are not just Won by Troops and Navies and Air Forces. They are many ways to fight Wars and Britain and the USA were also fighting that War with Intelligence Projects etc. Such as the one that Mr. Turing was involved in. Also, the UK and USA sent the USSR huge amounts of Military Aid in World War II. If we had not, the USSR could have been defeated by Hitler in 1941. That is a Fact. Our Aid gave your Troops the 'Tools' they needed to stand firm and fight back at the Fascist onslaught...
